Chapter 10 - Gathering of Contracted Killers (I)

Few hours ago...

Ethena after flying for hours above the clouds at a speed that made her seem like a furious lightning bolt, finally landed in the city that Aerracles accompanied both Jake and his mother, Sharon to.

But she did so in a place that no one will see her land, which was the peak of a towering mountain that stood so tall in a particular mountainous valley that was really far away from the city. And this she did by swooping down really fast to the mountain's summit as a streak of white light and landing with both softness and gracefulness, simply implying that she had great control over her flight ability.

After landing with a pride smile appearing in her face, and her beautiful white gown which looked elegant and glamorous on her, fluttering in the wind that blew past the mountain peak, she actually leapt off the peak of the mountain to the ground that was approximately four hundred meters below.

Then immediately employing her powerful sense of hearing which simply allowed her to hear sounds of almost everything from hundreds of miles away, Ethena began to walk, following the sounds of the humans that she heard to the source that they originated from. Now, her plan was to get to the massive city found in this region and start afresh, since her identity back at that other city had been blown simply because she wanted to help. However, if she was asked if she regretted her action, she wouldn't and will definitely do the same thing again if time was rewinded.

...

In a bustling wide street called Sterling street, was a particularly enormous building that seemed so imposing and magnificent, giving the feeling that an astronomical sum of gold coins was used in setting up it solid foundation and erecting it to that height which was precisely sixty feet above the ground. Then enveloping this grand building and the vast land that it was erected upon, were really tall and solid fences that hid away a colossal garden which had myriads of colorful flowers that added to the resplendence and beauty of the mighty, awe-inspiring building and constantly emitted these pleasantly-smelling scents that will soothe and relax the body of anyone that will walk on any of the wide, tiled footpaths that led round the enormous garden.

Furthermore, the building had a wide and thick gate far in front of it that possessed this fascinating pattern engraved on it gilded surface, while large solid doors that seemed to be formed from pure gold and glittered under the bright illumination of the sun far above, had several hefty-looking men dressed in uniforms standing gallantly in front of it. This, without surprise, was the grand and majestic noble home of Young Master Williams Sterling.

At the moment, in a large rectangular hall that had a ravishing throne formed from gold which was also embedded with polished, priceless gems and was placed against a wall covered with marveling murals of Deities and Divinities, could be seen a middle-aged man seated proudly in it.

This man had long dark beards and had narrowed eyes that shone with both shrewdness and astuteness. Besides, from the way that he moved and carried himself, one will immediately realize that he was a businessman that will certainly do anything, either mildly or aggressively to get his way around anything that he set his mind upon. Furthermore, from the aura encompassing his entire body, one will get the feeling that he had great wealth and immense riches and was capable of buying the king's crown and authority for himself.

"What did you say happened again? Explain slowly so I may understand" The middle-aged man seated on that throne with his legs crossed and was called Benedict by name, said with budding anger in his voice, since he was someone that wouldn't tolerate anyone laying their hands on any of his family members, most especially his one and only son whom he tried to spoil in every way possible, and even painstakingly taught to be crafty like him when dealing with business matters so that he could get more and rake in much more profit for himself.

"A wizard attacked me today at a particular stall at the trading ground. I wanted to use the method that you taught me on the owner of that stall to get her fruits and pay much less for it. But I was stopped by that damned wizard that was with her." Young Master Williams said as he recalled the events that took place at the trading ground.

He then said further with the vexed tone in his voice intensifying and his two fists closing tight in madness for the great embarrassment that he was caused, "He used this mysterious power on me that I believed was embedded in his voice. The words that he spoke to both me and my guards were heard by no other and yet quaked in seemingly boundless anger like lightning in both our ears and minds, and flung us flying away like useless shreds of paper caught in a fierce wind gale."

"I was really embarrassed today and want you to send your finest contracted killers to avenge me, Dad. I want that bastard caught and tied to a rope, dragged against the ground for hours and then beheaded in the most vicious way possible for the terrible humiliation that he caused me today at the trading ground. Then when everyone hears what happened to him, no one will dare to do anything of that sort to me ever again, or even try as much to recall the event that transpired between me and him." Young Master Williams said with his eyes now blazing in great, matchless anger.

"Wow!" Benedict uttered loud.

The words that had come out from his son's mouth surely took him by a huge surprise. He just couldn't believe what he just heard.

Then to confirm what he heard his son previously mention, he asked again, "You want me to send contracted killers to that man you call a wizard so that they could kill him just for the embarrassment that he caused you?"

"Yes dad. Or is it too much to ask for?" Williams replied and asked bluntly with a raging and vicious look now surfacing in his face as he stared at his father who seated with his eyes narrowed in thoughts on that throne.

"Well, yes. I won't use my contract killers just like this. It's a waste of money and a really poor use of both their skills and effort. However, that man or wizard, or whatever he is that actually dared to do such a thing to you will not go unpunished. So, instead of killing him and allowing him such an easy and quick exit from this world, he will be captured and slowly tortured till he gives up the ghost. By then, he would have certainly regretted the action that he took against you and definitely wouldn't try to do that to anyone else in his destitute and miserable next life." Benedict answered many moments later as he gazed at his son who seemed to strongly dislike his idea.

"No dad. I don't want that. Let's do it my way." Williams said with a hint of irrevocable determination in his voice.

He then said further as he glared at his dad who only looked warmly back at him, "Dad, this is the first time I am asking you for any favour. So, you should please try to fulfill what I asked from you. After this, I won't ask for any other favour from you."

Huuuuu!

Benedict inhaled deeply.

He then gazed lovingly at his son and said with his lips curling into a bright smile, "Alright then. I shall call my contract killers down here right away for you. And don't think of this as a favor, just see it as an obligation of a father to his lovely, temperamental son."
