I was shaken awake by Elise and healers were were around me casting healing spells but it was silent too silent so I asked what happened.
"Is everything okay? what happened?"
Elise looked at me and spoke.
"We...won"
I looked even more confused had I slept through a long bloody battle? so I clarified what she said.
"We won how? how many of us died? what was the battle like?"
Elise made me stand up and what I saw was shocking a battlefield with corpses littered everywhere and not a single person had serothor's armour I looked at Elise and she explained.
"When you passed out we mistakenly thought you were dead so many of us were quite viscous.
Even though there were a lot of them only the mages and the commander were actually strong and the mages were all exhausted and me, kyle and Reginald took down the commander"
I was speechless but she continued.
"10'050 dead enemies zero casualties on our side except for 30 minor injuries"
That was when I realised what I had done I had trained thousands of common people to use weapons, run long distance, cast basic magic, and refine there bodies by manifesting aura I had created an army of monsters.
•••enemy commander pov
I had at ordered my army to attack but what came out of those doors was a hoard of enraged people.
Once I looked at them I sensed aura coming off of each one but that would be impossible it takes years and years of practice and study to awaken aura.
Despite the feeling like they all had aura on them each one looked like they were avenging their families.
They cut down my men with ease and trampled out of the city gates like starved and crazed animals.
I saw my mages being slaughtered with simple spells and each person that excited that gate looked more sadistic than the last.
That's when three people walked towards me I could tell they were strong a woman with blood red hair and icy blue eyes was running towards me with explosive speed carrying short swords aimed at my abdomen.
A young man with normal brown hair and eyes but he held a one handed sword that was coming for head as if it was being pushed by fire.
Then there was an older man with the air of a veteran holding a long sword coming straight for my neck.
I could only speak my last words.
"fucking monsters"
••• back to normal two days later.
No one celebrated I had them gather all the bodies and burn them everyone looked horrified at this since cremation wasn't a normal thing in this world but it was necessary having 10'050 resentful spirits with bodies would definitely be bad later.
I had everyone rest for the day after the battle then today we started the body clean up now it would be at least half a year until the great empire reaches this city which also made me remember I needed to send a messenge to the empire.
I had someone bring me a some parchment and ink and I wrote a letter.
[addressed to Emperor Xenam Tudilus the 3rd
I prince Zeth of Serothor would like to enter a allegiance contract with your empire on the condition that we remain independent and my royal family has full rein of the kingdom.
though our army is ours if you agree we will support your army whenever you need I personally can foresee the future and so can be of help.
please consider this deal]
I called for a fireflute a special way to send messages I just burnt the letter in the fire and the emperor should receive a letter.
On average it takes one month for a fireflute to send a letter and serothor was a 3 week journey from the empire horse back so it would take a while to receive a reply.
Right now I needed to prepare the city I have changed the story and I have no Idea what will happen to serothor in the coming months.
We needed to make defenses and traps around the city and we need to get the royal castle up to scratch as a last bastion in case enemies break through our walls.
Without the benefit of knowing the future I needed to set a patrol roster and constantly send scouting parties to investigate.
By the time the protagonist gets here he will probably be a squad leader since it will still be pretty early in the story.
I am expecting the dust kingdom to attack again soon since their forces didn't return but it would most likely be their main army.
The army we fought was probably just a small force to get rid of serothor since we are only a small city state.
Actually now that I thought about it serothor's total territory is goes out for 10 kilometres so it should actually have some villages but for some reason it doesn't.
I could probably make use of the large amount of empty land by building forts, a few castles and forts would actually be very useful later on when there will be hoards of "people" attacking.
I walked to the training grounds and started to practise my staff fighting I wouldn't be able to be weak in the future this world is viscous and each calamity would be worse than the last.
The staff felt like an extension of my body now I should probably get an actual staff to replace this old broom handle haha and start working on my fighting style.
Next time I wouldn't pass out before the battle I will help and fight alongside my army I have been training hard for months to be able to survive a fight if I can't do it now I never will.
I manifested my aura and absorbed it back in I would activate my aura by the next battle no matter what even if I have to cut my lifespan to do it.
