Chapter 6 - | The Real Reason?

Starting at the ending of "04 | Stupid - Hurt"

Stefan spat the mix of blood and saliva at his mate, the liquid landed on his white shirt causing the material to turn a fading red color as it spread. Ade looked up from the red stain to his mate with a glare, the only thing stopping him from forcing his mate into submission (using his alpha voice) being his wolf.

"Fuck you, Ade." He spat, slamming the door before walking towards Eze who had been waiting at the entrance. Ade watched him with a cold glare, everything about the smaller male seemed to bother him and what really pissed him off was how disrespectful he was.

Despite being mates Ade tried not to seeing him as one and part of not seeing him as one would be not allowing him to speak however he wants, and yet, he can't bring himself to use his alpha voice on him. If any other person had cussed him out his wolf would've been clawing to get out and tear them apart, but this time his wolf was clawing to get out for another reason. Their mate.

Ades' fist tightened on the wheel as he watched both his mate and sister walk into the school before pulling out the crowded parking lot. The ride home was quicker than usual and quieter as his wolf refused to speak, upset at the fact his mate had been hurt.

Ade stripped his shirt off as he exited the car, the liquid already semi-dry and becoming a giant blob of light brown. As he entered the kitchen he made sure to toss the now ruined shirt in the garbage.

Ade quickly climbed the steps to his floor and made his way to his room, he could tell as soon as he stepped into the large room that it had been cleant. He hated when pack members were assigned to clean his room, he didn't like knowing people had entered without his permission and it was something he would have to bring to light at the next pack meeting.

He went into the restroom attached to his room and started the shower. He put his already braided dreads into a bun, and as he start unbuttoning his pants he heard the creak of a door being opened. It was quiet and a normal person wouldn't have heard it, especially not over the sound of a running shower; Ade made his way to the restroom door, already knowing who it was as soon as he caught a whiff of their scent.

The alpha leaned on the frame of the door, watching as his youngest sister cautiously peeked inside, "Ja, Ku? (Yes, Ku?)" He questioned, causing the young pup to jump at the sudden sound of his voice.

He spoke in Afrikaans to her because since the beginning of their packs creation it had been a rule to speak to pups in only Afrikaans until their 5th verjaarsdag (birthday), the elders wanted the pack to keep Afrikaans as their first language, it didn't seem like an important rule but they continued to follow it nonetheless.

The rule had been brought to light at many pack meetings before, the main focus being how confusing it was for the pups to grow up with one language and then all of a sudden be spoken to in a different one but no matter how many times the topic was discussed the rul had never been abolished.

Ku entered further into the room, taking slow steps as she made her way to her eldest brother, "Pappa het gesê hy moet met jou praat. (Daddy said he needs to talk to you.)" She rocked back and forth on her heels as she spoke, looking at nothing but the ground.

Ade groaned at the mention of the former alpha, already knowing what he wanted to speak about, "Ek sal na my stort gaan (I'll go after my shower)" he answered, backing back into the restroom once again.

"Wag! Bubba, kan ek tv kyk? (Wait! Bubba, can I watch tv?)" Ade looked down at the small pup as she gave, what he assumed to be, the best puppy dog eyes she could muster. Ade sighed before walking into the room and grabbing the remote, he switched the tv on and flipped through multiple channels before stopping on a random kids channel.

He turned the tv up a little more before handing the remote to his younger sister, watching amusingly as she had to use two hands just to hold it "Dankie, bubba! (Thank you, bubba!)" She beamed, smiling from ear to ear as Ade rubbed the top of her head before making his way back into the restroom.

Ku happily watched tv as Ade took a shower, making sure to be as quick as possible to prevent causing any issues that would come with making his father wait too long. He dressed in sweatpants and a plain black t-shirt before swiftly putting his dreads into a bun that hung messily right below his shoulders

"Bubba." The alpha stopped as he heard the tiny mumble of his younger sister's voice, he glanced back towards Ku who was now no longer sitting and now standing right behind him. Ade watched as the small pup stretched her small arms upwards, making grabby hands as she silently asked to be picked up by him.

Ade sighed, hiding a small smile as he lifted the small girl into his arms, slightly tossing her in the air and causing a small squeal to leave her. He stayed silent as he walked them towards their fathers' office, only letting her down once they had completely entered.

Once she was on the ground Ku immediately ran over to the older alpha, struggling to get on his lap as he watched on amusingly, allowing her to fail a few more times before finally helping her up. "Kyk pappa ek het hom gekry! Net soos ek gesê het, sou ek. (Look daddy I got him! Just like I said I would.)" She beamed with a proud smile.

He glanced up at his eldest son who still stood frigid at the door, before looking back down at the giddy pup, "Ek sien, dit lyk asof jy my weer verkeerd bewys het (I see, it looks like you proved me wrong again)" he replied, hiding his smile behind a frown.

Ku sat up, giving her father a few pats on the head "Dit is oukei Pappa, miskien is jy volgende keer reg (It's okay daddy, maybe you'll be right next time.)" Her expression was semi sympathetic as the older alpha looked down at her with squinted eyes and an arched brow.

Meanwhile, Ade stood quietly at the door, silently watching the two interact with one another. Despite the conversation not being the least bit humorous the older wolf still managed to laugh as she told childish jokes no one over the age of ten would find funny. Ade crossed his arms as he awkwardly watched his father beam at his younger sister, watching his father smile irked him and causing a bubbly feeling to rise into his chest.

When he was younger his father was strict. No smiles, no hugs, and no hangouts. He was the alpha of a huge pack and to him his pack was his priority and the only thing that truly mattered, so the pack usually took up all his time. The only interaction they had growing up was during their private training sessions meant to help him to become a fitted alpha for the pack he would soon be taking over.

Most days were spent with his siblings and their mother as she tried explaining why their father preferred playing with the other pack pups instead of them. The older alpha always claimed to love all his kids the same but it was very hard to ignore the clear difference and the way he acted when they were growing up compared to now.

Ade turned to the side, coming face to face with his mother as she walked into the office; She looked to her mate before glancing down at Ku, their father sighed as he immediately recognized what his mate was telling him. "Haai prinses, kan jy bietjie buite gaan? Mamma en Pappa moet met jou broer praat. (Hey princess, can you go outside for a little bit? Mommy and Daddy need to talk to your brother.)" Ku immediately shook her head no and wrapped her small arms around his neck, hoping it would be enough to stop him from kicking her out.

Koje reassuringly rubbed her back as he leaned down towards her ear, "As jy gaan, kan ons die hele dag kuier.  (If you go then after we can hang out all day.)" he whispered.

She hesitantly looked up, "Beloof? (Promise?)" she questioned, into his shoulder. "Beloof." he replied back as she finally let go of his neck. She stayed silent for a little while, visibly upset at being kicked out before mumbling an 'okay'.

Koje helped her off his lap, "Dankie prinses (Thanks princess)" he said before kissing her forehead and sending her off, she sadly walked over to Esther with a pout and gave her a small hug around the legs before leaving the room.

Ade watched as his mother made her way towards the desk, taking her spot behind her mate, "you needed to talk to me?" He questioned, finally leaning off the wall he had been slouched on.

Despite the question being directed at his father Easter answered, "We just wanted to know what was going on between you and Stef.." her soft voice trailed off as her face showed her concern.

Ade quirked a brow at the nickname but didn't say anything as he walked towards and took a seat in front of the large wooden desk, "Nothing. Nothing's going on between us." He answered truthfully.

This time his father was the one to reply, "You haven't mated or marked each other yet." he said bluntly, his eyes not leaving his sons. "Why?"

"I'm not going to mate with him... or give him my mark."

"Like hell you aren't." His father growled, sharpening his glare as his eyes flew a faint golden color. Ades' jaw clenched as he forced himself to remain silent and instead watched his mom as she placed her hand on her mates' shoulder, slightly calming him down before leaning down and beginning to whisper in his ear.

After a bit of back and forth whispering Koje leaned up in his seat, grumbling under his breath as Esther turned back to her now irritated alpha son, with a calm smile the complete opposite of his fathers' angry frown. "Why haven't you and Stefan mated yet?"  She questioned, re-asking the same question her mate had just asked.

"I'm not going to mate with-"

"Saying that is not answering my question." She answered, cutting him off as she took a step closer, "Why?" She questioned again before raising a hand when he opened his mouth to answer. "Adebiyi Kyto Ibrahim, don't you dare lie to me." she warned.

Ade stared between his parents, his eyes squinted in a threatening glare "I don't think he'd make a good Luna." He grumbled under his breath, knowing they could hear him regardless of how loud he chose to speak.

"praat harder. (speak up.)" His father growled, looking him in the eyes as if silently daring him to do something wrong. Ade sat up in his chair not breaking the eye contact as he once again repeated what he had said but louder, "I don't think he'd make a good Luna."

"Why?" Esther questioned, unintentionally breaking their invisible fight for dominance. Ade finger tips danced on the arm of his chair as he looked to his mother.

"Because he's a guy." He answered, internally rolling his eyes when he heard his wolf, Denzel, growled at him for bad mouthing their mate. He ignored his wolf's cursing as he continued on, "Luna's are supposed to be caring and gentle, they're the glue that keeps the pack together and the ones that keep everything organized. How can a man do that?" He asked, looking at Esther with squinted brows.

Her face remained neutral as she stayed silent, staring at her son as she tried to figure out what he had just said, "So the only reason I'm a good luna is because I don't have a penis?" she questioned.

"That's not what I said." He answered back, defensive as he looked between her and his father.

"No but it's what you implied." she kept a calm composure as she replied but her tone hinted she was feeling anything but calm. "I worked hard to be a good luna for this pack."

"Ma I-" Ade tried defending his previous statement but was cut off by his mother's sharp glare "Adebiyi, I'm talking right now." He immediately shut up at Esther's words.

"Nobody is taught by their parents how to be a luna, like how you and other alpha's are taught by their fathers how to be alpha's." Esther took slow steps towards him as he pridefully looked away "Son, The Moon Goddess knows that you're an alpha, and she knows that you need a mate that will make a good luna." she put her hand on the side of his face, forcing his gaze to meet hers' as she smiled down at him. "I know I only talked to him for a little bit but I can already tell that he is a very generous and caring person, pretty funny too." her smile growing wider as she let out a small quiet laugh.

"Just... just give the mate bond a chance, please. I promise he'll be an even better Luna than me." She moved her hand away, leaving her son alone to think about everything she had said. The thought of Stefan being his luna was something he didn't even want to entertain, let alone give a chance at happening.

In his mind no one could be a better Luna than his mother who has always been the most kind, beautiful, and selfless person he'd ever known. She's a strong women who despite knowing her body wasn't supposed to survive childbirth still decided to give birth to him and his two sisters, in his eyes no one could or would ever surpass that level of selflessness.

The pack thrived because of his mother and if he wanted to be as good of an alpha as his father, he would need to find someone just like her, even if they aren't his mate. "You're excused." His father spoke, breaking him from his thoughts; He immediately got up and went to the door, wanting to leave as quickly as possible "Son." Koje called, stopping him in his tracks as he looked back at them both, watching as Esther made her way back to his side. "Only a few people are blessed with finding their soulmates." he said, turning to smile at his mate who in return smiled back. "Don't lose him."

"The moon goddess doesn't give out second chances."
