Chapter 32 - At the junkyard part 2

A few days ago, he was taking the parts away by himself late at night.

'HONK HONK HONK HONK'

One of the car alarms went off noisily. He thought that someone might have entered the junkyard and pushed the car or something but when he approached the car he realized, it was the same car with the piece of the scalp falling off.

The car was in an accident. So he told me that he simply thought that the sensor might have been broken.

He got into the driver's side to turn off the car alarm. He pressed the buttons but the alarm didn't stop. Unexpectedly, his eyes saw a phone on the floor of the car's in front of the passenger seat.

He bent down to pick it up and when he straighten his back, in the windshield he saw a woman crawling up covered in blood.

As soon as he finished his story, I broke out in another fit of laughter.

"Haha, what are you talking about? Did you have a nightmare?"

"Haha, that is ridiculous. There are no ghosts."

"I am telling the truth. I saw that woman for sure."

"Okay, yes. There are ghosts here."

"Remember that hair from the other night? I think it belonged to her."

"Okay, sure."

Till then both him and I thought that it was just a simple coincidence back then.

But that night, he ran inside. As soon as he saw me, he let out a deep breath.

"I saw that woman again."

He told me he was dismantling the car a moment ago. He was staring into the bonnet for a while. After he closed the bonnet, he leaned down on the ground to close his toolbox when suddenly he heard someone mumbling something.

When he turned his head, he saw that a woman was crawling on top of the bonnet. She was mumbling, "Not here.. Not here.. Not here.."

It looked like she was looking for something.

To be honest, I thought he had gone mad because I didn't believe in ghosts. And it was December 31, it was the night before New Year's day. We decided to have a small party, even though it was only him and I in the Junkyard.

"Let's take a photo." He said.

"No, I don't want to take a photo." I replied.

"Hey, hold this."

"What is this?"

He handed me some firework sticks and said, "Taking a photo with this is cool now. Here, I will light them for us."

"When did you get this?"

He lit the firework sticks and told me to stand a bit ahead to take a photo.

"In 1..2..3"

"Okay, last one."

He took some photos of mine with a digital camera. I got the digital camera from him and checked the photos he just took.

I checked the first two and on the third one...

"But what is this?"

There was a vague image of a woman smiling from ear to ear in the background of the photo.

I turned around to show him the photo but apparently he wasn't there. He had disappeared. He was right next to me a moment ago. He handed me the digital camera.

'CLANGG..CLANGGG'

I heard a loud sound of metal dropping on the concrete from afar the junkyard.

I called him multiple times. Suddenly, I saw someone hiding behind one of the cars.

"Is that you? Stop goofing around."

I was about to look behind that car when a car horn went off of a car behind me.

"Come on! I told you to stop goofing around!"

"That's enough!" I yanked open the door of the car which had its horn going off.

I was startled to say the least when I opened that door.

A man was bending over the floor of the car as if he was searching for something. He was continuously mumbling, "Not here.. Not here.. Not here.."

When I looked at his face properly with my flash light. I realized it was none other than my friend.

He was acting like the ghost he had told me before. I was trying to comprehend what was happening when he stormed off opening the door of the car on the other side.

He hid himself behind one of the car.

I slowly approached him. I saw him laying down on the ground. When I ran over to him, he was unconscious.

I called his name over and over when he woke up.

"Are you alright?"

"What's going on here? What am I doing here?"

He had no idea what had happened to him.

"You crawled here like a madman. Don't you remember that?"

"What are you talking about? That woman came after me."

A while ago, he gave me the digital camera. After that, he left to use the toilet. But the woman showed up again. Up until a moment ago, he said he was hiding behind the car to hide from her.

But suddenly I started to feel as if all the puzzle pieces were coming together. The spirit of the woman who died in the car accident possessed his body. That could be why he was walking around the junkyard every night.

I couldn't really decipher why would that woman torture him like that.

A perplexing night had passed. I couldn't see my friend from then on. He said he couldn't work at the junkyard anymore. He quit the job. But..

After a few days, a man came in the junkyard.

"Hello."

"Hello"

"How can I help you?"

"On the 19th of the last month, a car was scrapped here. But I lost something in the car."

A family member of the problematic car's owner came by. It was the victim's father.

"Did you find a watch when you were scrapping the car?"

"A watch? Hold on."

"Are you sure it was inside the car? Sometimes, things get lost at the scene of the accident."

"I am sorry. But can you please check it once again in your records? I really have to find it."

"Hold on."

The watch was a wedding present. And he was desperate to find it. The people who died in the car accident were a couple who was soon to get married. After picking up the watch, on their way back the accident had happened.

The bride died on the scene. The moment I heard that story, I ran over to the dorm. I went directly to the room which that friend had been using before quitting the job.

I frantically went through the drawers in his room. As expected, inside the drawer there was a watch. Then it all made sense.
