I felt like the entire house was filled with cold air. And I had a feeling that someone was looking at me.
(In her workplace)
Soo Ryeon- "It's been a while since you moved. How is it like to live alone?"
Ga Eun- "Well... I think my house is a bit strange."
Soo Ryeon- "Really? What is it?"
Ga Eun- "I'm not sure if it's just my feeling, but I feel someone is in my house when I'm at home. You know that strange feeling as if someone is staring at you? I even have nightmares these days. I'm scared to death."
Soo Ryeon- "Is that house haunted by any chance?"
Ga Eun- "Hey, I'm being serious."
Soo Ryeon- "Perhaps it bothers you more because you think about it too much."
Ga Eun- "It's not like that. Something is really strange."
Soo Ryeon- "If you are the only one to hear that sound it could really be a ghost. If other people also heard it, it's only a noise. Ask your neighbors about it. They could complain together if it's the noise from the karaoke."
After work hours when I was about to enter my house I decided to ask my neighbor about it. I walked up to the next door and was about to knock, suddenly I noticed that someone was by the door from inside the neighbor's house even before I knocked. It was scary as the neighbor might have already been looking at me so I just didn't knock and immediately came inside my house.
I was afraid to visit the next door to ask about it because I didn't even know who lived there.
And at dawn on that day, I came to witness what the horror was with my own eyes.
I couldn't breathe well. My body was frozen with fear as some man was trying to stab me with a knife. When I woke up I realized it was a terrifying nightmare.
And there was a strange sound that seemed like a continuation of that nightmare. The sound that had bothered me was coming through the wall of the next door. Suddenly a man came inside my room and struck me with a hammer.
'Bzzzt bzzzt' The alarm rang and I woke up from that nightmare.
What was that dream yesterday? I couldn't even distinguish which part was a dream and which part was reality.
And that day, I found out the disturbing sound was. I had just arrived home after work I saw people gathering Infront of the building. When I entered the building I heard...
Detective 1-"Make sure people won't come in here."
Detective 2- "Okay."
Detective 1- "Gosh. What's going on here?
The cause of this commotion was....the next door.
When the detective saw me..
Detective 2-"Can I help you?"
Ga Eun- "I live in this building. By the way, what's going on?"
Detective 2-"Well."
Detective 1- "Hey, Detective park. What are you doing? Come over here."
Detective 2-"Okay." "You can go inside."
He didn't answered my question and just left then my phone rang. It was Soo Ryeon.
Ga Eun- "Hello?"
Soo Ryeon-"Where are you now?"
Her voice was shaking.
Ga Eun-"I just got home. But I think something happened next door."
Soo Ryeon-"Did you see the news?"
Ga Eun-"What?"
Soo Ryeon-"Hurry. Turn on the news quickly."
Ga Eun-"Okay, I will."
I hunged up the phone and turned the news on.
("Yoo Young Chul, the suspect who killed and buried 19 people, mostly women in their 20s and wealthy elderlies, is arrested. Until five days ago, in only ten months, a total of 19 people were murdered by Yoo Young Chul. A studio near Sinchon Rotary where nine women were killed.")
The place being shown on the news and the place where the serial murder took place was the studio apartment I lived in.
The news continued...
("He called women to this studio apartment and murdered them brutally. Mr. Yoo mutilated the bodies of the victims in his bathroom.")
I could finally clear up all the doubts that had bothered me until then. A serial killer was living right next door.
