Phoebe went on to run. She didn't even know what had given her the unending energy to keep on running. She stopped, only when she had sighted a taxi and was about to board it and then suddenly she realized, she had no single dime on her. The damn money was left in her backpack!!!. She sobbed louder in anguish and frustration. She just - -, she just felt like- - -, she didn't know what she felt like. She felt her heart slowing withering in pain.
She walked slowly while having her teary eyes and her running nose, cleaned, she didn't want more attention on her pitiable self. It seems luck was on her side, she saw her mother's best friend; Aunt Catherine in a floral shop as she was buying a lot of flowers. A thought occurred to her, pushing her to go ask for money from her because she was already exhausted from running, but she declined. Her mother wouldn't be happy that she had begged others for alms.
Phoebe took a left turn heading to the forest with clumps of large trees, fallen leaves and uneven ground. It was the same place where her bf, no!! no longer her bf, her ex-boyfriend and her ex-best friend had gone for a picnic.
She wanted to cry over there, she wanted to writhe in pain, letting out her sorrows to the air. She wanted to tell out her frustrations. She was so suffocating from trying to curb her emotions.
The deeper place in the forest she was heading to was deserted. Not many woodcutters found their time to wander deeply. She let herself fall on the damp ground when she finally arrived in the forest, breaking down to sob loudly.
She was a fool and a coward. Why didn't she go over to those idiots, to slap Ava and then knee-kick Logan in his groin? Why didn't she? But instead, she had run off like always. She had always run away whenever she encountered bullying, scolding and the rest of them. She had never, ever stood up for herself.
She didn't have to blame him though, she was just a poor girl; a girl without a class on a scholarship to the luxurious and prestigious university and truly scruffy-looking and dating her was enough to humiliate.
And Ava? Ava was a beautiful and jovial girl with brown curly hair and charming eyes, not an introvert and had rich parents, unlike her.
She broke down in fresh tears. Her mother had warned her from dating Logan but she was so infatuated that she had disobeyed for the first time.
She felt hurt, loneliness, jealousy, social anxiety, shame, guilt, embarrassment, sadness and anger creep into her. How was she going to face her mother and others at school?.
She wished she had never dated Logan. She wished she had never accepted his proposal over social media. She just wished, she could turn back the hands of time or probably erase the minds of the people, who had witnessed her cry and be shamed in school.
And if she ever had any superpower, she would have taken Ashley and have her roasted in fire, a million times. Have Ava's long curly hair cut and then burnt. And Logan? What was the most appropriate punishment for him?. She wondered, trying to rack her brain for an appropriate punishment.
While Phoebe was trying to fetch an appropriate punishment from her imaginary punishment books, the ground behind her was been imprinted by invisible creatures with two pairs of two-toed footprints, one in the middle is larger than the rest, slowly striding to where the girl was sitting; lost in thoughts.
"You sense her energy?" One of the creatures asked.
"Yesss- - -, look her in thoughts and I smell her sorrow but she smell different- - -". The second creature paused, taking in a whiff before shaking its head. I can't senssss it no more- - is gone". The creature's tongue slithered in out and out, while it frowned its face in confusion.
" It strange well". The first creature concluded. They were both speaking in broken English.
Phoebe who was still lost in her world and then sniffing and hiccuping felt something was whispering behind her. Was it the trees? There was no way the trees would crouch down to talk to her ears or could it be the wind? Or was she suddenly having a mental breakdown?.
The first creature shut its mouth, it was about to open as if it realized something, nudging the other one to shut up too. "She hear us?" The second creature whispered.
"I do not think, she hear us..."
"But see, she stopped her cry, she sensing us". The second one insisted, stepping back to hold the first one.
The creatures paused in their movements and statements to see if the girl was truly able to see or hear them.
Phoebe was instantly shocked, as she stopped sobbing, her heart beating faster. She was certain, she heard something say, she could see them. Who were they?.
Turning quickly to see what it was, she faced the most hideous creatures, she had ever seen in her entire life. She saw them tilting their heads as if in confusion, wondering what she was and what she was about to do.
