"Isn't it weird how we've been living in this school for a week, yet we haven't had any classes?" Lin asked Nana, "Anyway, make sure to sleep well for tomorrow, class starts at 7:30 AM, don't be late."
Nana took of her slippers before getting in bed, climbing under her blanket and fluffing her pillow up. She sighed. It'd be 3 days since she last heard the voices, but with it gone, she feels something was wrong, something was missing. Regardless, she closed her eyes.
Nana found herself in the exact same place she'd found the book. The sounds of water trickling down the walls of the cold damp room could be heard, the altar sitting ever so quietly and peacefully in the middle of the room, surrounded by a moat of calm water at its base. The book sitting atop the altar. "Why am I here? I thought the voices stopped." Nana walked towards the altar. She picked up the book and started flipping through the pages. "Ah!" A large pain spiked through Nana as she dropped the book into the water. On the open page of the book there was a drawing of her in charcoal, only with a singular horn on her right. "What is this, wasn't I asleep, is this a bad dream?" She bent down and picked up the book, suddenly, she felt hands wrapping around her, pulling her away from the book. She grabbed the book in a hurry and the darkness started to envelop Nana.
"Wake up! Wake up! Nana it's literally 7:28, class starts in 2 minutes, we have to hurry." Nana was awoken by Lin, "We can't be late for the first day of class, the teachers would hate us."
"What day is it?" Nana awoke in a cold sweat, breathing heavily.
"Not this again, its the 18th, do you have short term memory? C'mon, there's no time to get changed, just run to class." Lin pulled Nana out of bed and grabbed her hand. He'd pull too hard and shoved Nana into him. They both fell on each other. They both stared at each other in the eye as Nana laid on top of Lin. "Y-you have n-nice eyes..." Lin stuttered.
Nana stood up quickly and turned away from Lin. "Let's never speak of this."
-----Scene 2-----
"Good morning everyone, my name is Magi, you guys can call me Mister Magi." Magi stood in front of the class, "Congratulations on being accepted into this school, I'll be your homeroom teacher for this year. Now, why don't we start the year off by introducing ourselves, starting with your name, why you're here and 1 interesting fact about yourself."
The guy in the first seat stood up. "Good morning everyone, my names Rel, I'm-"
"WE'RE HERE! WE'RE ONLY 2 MINUTES LATE!" Lin shouted as both him and Nana barge into the class, "We did well on running to class in just 4 minutes, the classes are far from the dorms here."
"Awfully early aren't you? And what are you guys names?" Magi pointed at Nana. "I like your pajamas."
"Uh my names Nana, I want to earn my license and I like boy bands like 'One Way'" Nana said nervously.
"And my names Lin, I came to this school to show to my brother that I am truly worthy of being a Loyd." Lin said proudly.
A student in the back raised their hands. "What's a Loyd?"
"Well you see, this world is run by 4 major clans, the Yeans, the Kotoru, the Agusses and the Loyds." Magi added.
"Yeah, whatever he said." Lin replied.
"Well why don't you early birds have a seat? You get the seats closest to me for being extra early." Magi said sarcastically. Nana took the seat closest to the window.
"Well, looks like we're running behind schedule for introductions so let's just start on the main topic for today. You guys might not know this but in approximately 10 days, you'll be taking your wizard license exam, so to ease us into learning about magic, today's lesson is going to be an introduction on Magic." Magi drew a stickman on the blackboard. "You see this amazingly drawn human? This is you. And this chalk that drew the human is magic; the source for all living things."
Nana stared out the window and thought about what she had dreamt. The book. She needed to find out what was the relevance of the book.
"Hey teacher." Nana raised her hand. "Can I go to the toilet?" She left her seat and walked into the hallways.
The water from the tap trickled down into the sink, forming a whirlpool into the drain. She's wiping her face with the water when she feels something on the top of her face. She lifts her hair and there's the stump of a horn she had dreamt of.
"Yo, new girl." Johan walked into the toilet, past Nana into the opposite wall, "Want one?" She took out a cigarette and offered it to Nana.
Nana quickly put her hair down and covered the scar. "No, I don't smoke"
"C'mon, you're 18, that's old enough to smoke." Johan replied. "My names Johan with a H by the way, the H is silent. Nana was it? You've got a lot of nerve coming to class late on the first day. Not like I care about school anyway. I just came here so I can take my license exam and hopefully be able to earn money."
"I want to get my license so I can help others when i become a real witch, not for the monetary gain." Nana replied, "When you're helping others it shouldn't be for money but from the kindness of your heart."
"Yata yata money can't buy happiness, I've heard it all rich girl." Johan rolled her eyes. Nana studied her, she was wearing a revealing crop top with a large dragon tattoo on the side of her hip. "Still don't want a ciggy, rich girl?" She took a puff.
"Why don't we head back to class, Mister Magi is gonna get angry if we're in the toilet for too long." Nana gestured to leave the toilet.
"Don't you think Mister Magi is cute? He's got abs, muscles and large arms. What a lucky wife." Joana said as she blew a puff, "But yeah, we better go rich girl." She took the cigarette, rubbing the burnt end on the wall, placing it into her pocket, "Can't waste any."
Nana walked back to class and took her seat. She placed her head on her table, Mister Magi was talking, but she didn't hear him, Nana just blanked out, facing the window. Her eyelids felt heavy, she closed her eyes.
"You've got to help! The students are still trapped inside the building! We've only managed to save 7 so far, but there's still atleast 20 others that are still trapped in the burning building!" Nana stood infront of the school as it was burning, the bright ambers reflected in her eyes.
