Maria had to hold back her laughter at the sight that was laid out before her. It had been a long time since anything had made her genuinely laugh, but this definitely took the cake.
Who would not be moved by the sight of Antonio on his knees, his trembling hands holding the edge of the crib, and his reddened eyes focused on his sleeping son?
"He's not a bomb, you know?" Maria mused as Antonio's head snapped in her direction; the action was so fast that Donna wouldn't have been surprised if his head came rolling out of his shoulders.
The young father rose to his feet before rushing up to Maria and grabbing her by the shoulders. He spoke in a hushed tone, "Ssh!" Don't make a sound; I only managed to put him to sleep a few minutes ago! "Any sudden noise will wake him, and that will lead to another hour of endless weeping!"
