Maria stood beside her father, the cool night air hitting her as she watched silently. The men scurried all over the yard loading weapons into the vans. She couldn't believe her eyes when a few of them rolled a bazooka into one of the vehicles, what was she about to witness?
Luca walked up to her with his infamous smirk that always seemed to be on his face, "Here, you'll need this."
He handed her a bulletproof vest and a gun and she shook her head in disbelief. It was funny in a way, the last time she held one of these was for target practice and now look, tonight was the real deal. Luca noticed the petrified look in her eyes and said, "Don't worry, I'll hold your hand throughout."
She glared at him, how could he be so casual about this? The possibility of them dying tonight was very high, yet they were all calm. She could never get used to this.
