Chereads / Alpha's Mismatched Mate / Chapter 8 - Her Nightmare and its Reward

Chapter 8 - Her Nightmare and its Reward

The sun drowned behind the west horizon leaving behind pinkish hues as its mark, her heart plunged deep into the dungeon of fears as she paced back and forth within the bounded walls of her room.

Her impatience clawed deep into nerves and grew dense with each passing second.

The only thing moving in her mind was the picture of Raven sitting on the back of the rocking chair.

She needed to rescue him, as soon as possible, but she didn't want to come face to face with him.

After experiencing the intensity if his stare from a distance, she couldn't dare to go close to him. Also, she didn't have any proof that he had abducted Raven. She couldn't accuse him just on the basis of her guess.

Although she had thought of a plan to go to his place and check for him. But as soon as the idea hit on her mind, it proved itself to flop.

"What if he attacked me again?"

"I will have no way to sneak out of there if I somehow manage to get in there."

"How will Dad get to know about my whereabouts, if he abducted me too?"

She counted on all the possibilities and considering them she decided to not go with her initial plan.

She stopped by the window and stared outside at the window of the house across the street. The off-white curtains covering up its mirrors had restricted her view of the inside of the house.

Ella put her finger on her lower lips and pressed it inside underneath her teeth and clenched it, as her narrowed eyes were still darted into the mirror of the window, she was sure about it that the man had abducted Raven but had no proof.

'maybe he hasn't abducted him.'

'In that case, where he went then?'

'Should I look for him around here, in the house, and in the surroundings?'

Biting on her lower lips she proceeded with evaluating the other side of the coin and decided to look for him in the house and in the surroundings.

Behind the curtains, under the sofa, in the kitchen, beside the jars, on the refrigerator, she had looked for him everywhere but there's no sign of him anywhere.

Finally, she decided to go out and look for him in the surroundings of their new place. She slipped her feet into her shoes laying on the shoe rack by the door and headed out.

The night had prevailed on the sky and turned it dark. Holding her head high she moved her orbs in all the directions and searched for him carefully. In the sky, on the branches of trees, in the weeds, on the lawns of the neighbors, behind the car of their neighbors, and under it, she checked everywhere but no sign of him was found.

After looking for him in almost all the places her eyes could reach, she returned home with her face dropped down to her chin as all grains of hope fell from the hourglass of her patience yet left it empty and hollow. As hollow as the sky above her had become and as empty as her heart left at that moment.

She stepped in and slammed the door behind her unintentionally. Throwing her shoes in her rack she went straight up to her room and thrust herself onto the bed. As soon as she buried her face in the pillow she started crying and shouting his name.

Ella already had not many friends around her, especially here in this new place she had not even one person around her with whom she could share her feelings, talk her heart, and call her friend. Though she's the reserved kind of person Raven had always been a great support to her.

She cried and cried a lot and didn't know when her soul left her body and took her to a world of imagination or reality, yet no one knows what that was.

There's a black hole, deep, dark, gaunt, and tenebrous. She found herself groping in it to get hold of the end of the rope yet there was nothing but darkness.

Ella tried to wake but the instant she pushed her foot forward she realized there was no earth underneath her feet.

"What- am I flying?" She let out a clipped voice.

She peered down to check if there was earth underneath her or not and she found a black surface below. Not knowing whether it's the color of the floor or she's floating in the air, up high somewhere in the darkest zone of the heavens.

She shouted in the grim darkness, aloud. There was no one to respond to her cries, but she kept on crying.

"Sshhh..." A shushing sound came from the other end of the darkness.

Ella got shocked, she felt as if someone just jerked her soul out of this murkiness. She gulped down her fear knotted in her throat instantly and composed her cores to ask.

"W-wh who's there?" She stuttered.

Silence.

No shushing or any other kind of vocals reverted.

She found herself all alone, once again in that black hole.

She titled her head to her right and then left as if to find a ray of light, maybe a tiny ray of light peeked in from somewhere in this darkness to lessen its density, yet she found nothing but darkness surrounding her like a blanket, and she felt herself swaddled in it tightly.

Suffocation.

She started suffocating as the amount of air she needed to breathe in was not there and she suffered inhaling it.

Suffered.

She groped with both her hands moving like she's swimming in the unfathomable oceans, where there's zero level of oxygen and she's diving deep, alone and suddenly something restricted her way.

A rock.

A huge gaunt rock and she presumed that she would find someone near it who would help her to get out of there.

She proceeded, fastening her hands and feet to reach near it.

A sultry air gushed into her, and she felt as if she had just landed in hell. Her respiratory cords burned, and her body lost the power to swim farther.

Before she could bring herself to the state to speak, she felt a sharp sensation trailing down her neck. She got a tiny bump on her skin out of extreme fear as her body shuddered.

She squeezed her eyes and brought her terribly shaking hand up to her neck to remove the sharp source running down on her neck. It only reached halfway when something grabbed it tightly.

She tried hard to free her hand but the more she forced it the more the grip tightened.

The sultriness that was blowing near her, she felt it now coming closer to her.

She couldn't help herself but let out a banshee cry.

"Ahh ahh..." She let out small cries.

Saturated in perspiration thoroughly, she bolted up on her bed and stamped her hands on it as she analyzed her surroundings.

Her room was dimly lit with the light of the table lamp and the silver rays of moon drooling in through the window. A cold air gushed into her room and tried to blow off the pearl of sweat swinging on her forehead.

Her face was still soaked in the darkness of her nightmare, she just woke up from as she looked bewildered.

She twisted to her right and approached the covered glass of water. As she took a sip from it, the water got stuck in her throat and her eyes widened, she forced it down and blinked her eyes. Twice and thrice to check that she's not dreaming.

That was not her dream.

She got out of her bed and took small steps toward it. She didn't want to thrust the bubble of her illusion. Not this time.

She moved closer, stopped, pursed her lips, narrowed her eyes, and then proceeded again.

As she reached there, Ella outstretched her index finger and moved it farther.

She didn't shut her eyes even for a second; no blink, wide-open eyes as she wanted to witness the bubble bursting.

Because it can't be real. No.

It went close and stopped.

Now straight on the point.

And

"Wonk!" A croaked voice resonated in her room drenched in pin-drop silence and shattered the horrific quietness.

"Ah..." She sighed and closed her eyes as if a sharp pain went down her body.

But no.

There's no pain.

But relief.

And happiness.

The bubble shattered and showered on her the best reward she could ever wish for.

"Oh... Raven"

She pulled him towards her and hugged him tightly.

She could not speak anything else, nor did she remember anything else at that moment.

All she knew was Raven is back.

Everything else vanished from her memory as she took him in his bosom.

(Ella found her Raven, but who knows if it was her Raven or a duplicate version of him.) Wink~
