"So, you got a way to revenge on me, eh." Asher muffled half wet with the cold water her newly formed mother had just thrown on him to wake him up.
"What did you just say?" She asked, her voice was quite lively and the fear that he had confronted in her voice the first time he had a face-to-face interaction with her was lost.
She was wrapped in her nightgown as her hair was tied up into a bun on top of her head.
"I said, I hate you for this," Asher replied in a frustrated voice.
"Oh, well you'll love me for this if only you bother yourself to check what time it is." She said as she reverted toward the door.
"I am going to make breakfast for us. If you don't want to miss it, come down within two minutes." She said while turning the corner.
Asher huffed as she became invisible, he tossed aside the blanket and got out of his bed.
As he stood beside his bed, he leaned forward and pressed the power button on the side of his phone. Its screen flashed and showed the time 7:45 am.
"Shoot." He said as he pressed the button again to turned it off.
He was not an early morning person especially since he moved in here, he never woke up this early.
Moreover, that college-going thing was surely not his cup of coffee.
Being a wolf, he was accustomed to a lifestyle in which they hunt, eat, sleep and repeat.
Studying was surely not his thing. Never.
"How many crackers a wolf has to blow to get his mate." Asher said as he headed toward the bathroom.
It took him 10 minutes to freshen up and after exactly ten minutes he came out of his bathroom, semi-naked, draped in a towel.
He headed straight toward the mirror and started dressing his hair, he had to look charming and dashing. After all, he's not going to attend college for the sake of knowledge just like other students do.
His mission is different than theirs. He's going there on a mission, to find his mate.
He put on his dress pants fitted on his thighs which made him look classier and chicer.
As he buttoned his black shirt, he glanced at the mirror and admired himself for a good time.
"I'll surely be going to take the hearts of so many young, virgin girls today." He smirked.
Puss fuss, on the hands and around his neck, he perfumed himself heavily and headed out of his room.
He was excited for this day.
"I'm going to meet my mate today.
I'm going to take her hand in mine today.
And I'm going to kiss my mate today."
Asher sung her heard out as he walked straight into the kitchen where a table was already set for breakfast.
"Umm... Pretty much good stuff you have cooked. Thanks."
All his aggressiveness flew into the air, and he was happy and excited for today.
His first day at college.
Excited.
Asher had his breakfast and was heading out when he heard a voice coming from his back, straight from the kitchen.
"Have a nice day." She shouted.
"Ugh... Don't behave like typical parents," Asher said in a hoarse voice.
He didn't wait for her to ask another question in response to his reply and headed out quickly.
Asher slammed the brakes of his car outside the huge metal gate and parked his car in the parking lot near the gates.
He threw a stare at the huge board of the college and then averted his gaze at the girls walking around him.
His heart bloomed.
So many girls.
And one out of many of them was her mate.
Asher's mate.
He walked through those gates and on the road to the main block lined with pine trees.
He could feel the gazing orbs of girls observing him, admiring him as he walked through the corridor.
The envious expressions probed on the faces of boys when they found their girlfriends swooning over him.
Pride and arrogance on being admired by so many girls wind up his veins as he entered the classroom filled with students both girls and boys seated in their chairs busied in laughing, and talking as Professor Bell had his head occupied in some notes.
He moved silently toward the only two seats unoccupied and sat on one of them.
He looked around him, carefully observed the faces of each one of his fellow and then the professor.
Everyone was involved in their own talks as he kept on analyzing each girl in the room. From head to toe. Sitting either with a boy or girl because he didn't care if his mate to be had a boyfriend, she'd be gonna end up with him if she's his.
The mark.
A line from the letter hit on his mind which said his mate had a mark on her the back of her neck.
Asher beseeched his lips as his eyes narrowed, he was lost in thoughts.
How he'd find that is a new task for him.
The expressions on his face grew dense, deep, and more thoughtful as if he was planning to undress all the girls present there in the room and check whether anyone of them had that mark or not.
In case no one had that mark, it's completely pointless for him to even sit a single second there.
"Be patient." He whispered, calming down his exciting nerves that want a mate immediately.
"Hey! newcomer?"
A voice came from his back, shattered his self-talking session and he turned back.
A boy tucking his hands in his jeans stood behind him, his left shoulder slightly bent due to the bag he was carrying as a red cap was hiding his blonde hair which can be seen from the part of his head left uncovered by the cap.
"Yeah." Asher flaunted his answer and turned straight because he was least interested in interacting with any boy right now.
The only thing working on his mind was a girl who'd be his mate.
No boy. No contact with boys.
No.
No.
Not interested.
"So, it's your first day, right?"
The boy seemed more interested in Asher than he. He moved now in front of him and extended his hand towards him.
"I'm James, you can call me Jim, Jam, anything you'd like."
'Why would I even call you?' Asher muddled in his thoughts.
"Okay." He said roughly.
He didn't want to prolong this conversation with him as it would waste his precious time which he supposedly should use in looking for girls around him.
James stood there, looking down at him, perhaps he was expecting something from Asher's side too.
But no response. No comment. No further words from his side.
He tilted his head towards the professor who was still engrossed in his notes as there's still five minutes left for the class to begin.
"Can I sit here with you?"
James said pointing towards the empty seat.
"No." He gave a quick answer to that.
He couldn't let a boy sit with him. It wasn't part of his mission to get friendships with boys.
"Look for somewhere else. Go." Asher added to his abrupt no and again averted his head towards the professor.
James was shocked at such rude behavior of his. His face showed as if he were about to cry. Without saying another word, he moved from there and sat in the row next to him.
The chair remained empty. Asher remained alone seated on his chair, staring at the professor as if after exactly four minutes the class was going to start, and the professor was most likely to reveal the name of his mate.
Unfortunately, this was not going to happen but just before one minute, something happened which shun him to his cores.
