My eyes were filled with tears long after the talkie-walkie stopped cackling. It was really my brother. He wasn't dead!
He was alive!
"I was right!" I whispered to myself.
Zula had only created those images to scare me. None of them was true. My brother was alive.
I dropped my eyes to the device in my hand and I tried to tune it around hoping to get reception. It had to work somehow. It had to.
"You are wasting time."
I raised my head as my heart skipped a beat at the sound. But it was only Diane.
"Diane!" I yelled almost dropping the only thing that connected me to the real world. Seeing her brought more tears to my face. We could both find a way out now.
"Diane, my brother —my brother called!" I sobbed happily as I showed her the walkie talkie.
She smiled at me. "Your family members love you very much. They didn't know a lot of details but they left a lot of hints for you..."
