Chapter 16 - Breakfast With The Royals

"Can I have my breakfast now, Kimi?" Lela could get used to someone serving her breakfast in her room. She was grateful she didn't have to eat with the others, who knows how long ago they would've caught her if they found out she ate like a hobo and not a princess. Lela smiled inwardly.

Kimi nodded, bowed, and ran out of the room. I laid back on my bed, smiling like all those Disney Princesses did when they woke up. So this is what that felt like, almost everything you wanted at the snap of a finger? Well, Lela was at an "I need this please," but it wasn't anything different, because she still got what she wanted.

Fate and Order had known what they were doing, taking her to a life that was the polar opposite of what her life used to be. Lela's life before was so tragic that she never saw any attractive people around her, everyone looked like they were suffering, even the ones that claimed to be rich and had nothing to worry about other than taking care of themselves, but here, everyone looked so good, so attractive. Was it something in the water they drank? Hell, even the Princess, who had the same body as Lela, looked ten times more attractive than her. It was sad. Maybe. But Lela had decided that she was going to enjoy her life in Oswind whether she was a princess or not. The owner of the body had died, and though her coming into her body was to make sure she made decisions that would help her in her future life, she was going to enjoy it nevertheless.

Kimi pushed the princess's door open, her face in a knot. Her lips were pursed in a pout, her eyebrows furrowed and her eyes dim. Worst of all, she was without Lela's breakfast.

"Kimi? What happened to breakfast?" She asked her, pushing herself up from the soft bed. Kimi cocked her head to the left, not saying a word. She didn't need to because Head Maid Magdalena followed after her, that stoic smile on her face as she bowed to Lela. It was Lela's turn to cock her head to the side, eyes darting from the older woman to Kimi.

What's going on? Her face seemed to ask, but Kimi didn't say a word.

"Good morning, Princess. How was your rest?" Head Maid Magdalena asked. Lela forced a smile on her face as she replied, saying her rest was good.

"The Queen has commanded that you resume eating at the table with everyone else since you are fully recovered now," Lela stared at Magdalena, surely the older woman was pulling a prank. Her eating arrangements had never been a topic of discussion before, so why was it now? And what? With everyone else? Everyone, like the King, the Queen? The First prince? Did they want her to die for real this time? So Lela laughed, one hand covering her mouth, the other hand pointing at Magdalena, who blinked a few times as the Princess laughed.

"I didn't know you were capable of telling jokes," Lela laughed.

"That was a good one, right Kimi? That was a good one, she almost got me," Lela didn't stop laughing. Kimi bit her lips as she watched the Princess's display. Why was she acting like this now of all times?

"No, Princess. She is serious. The Queen ordered you to eat with everyone, and they are currently waiting for you at the dining area," Kimi's words felt like a betrayal. They were serious. Lela had just expressed her happiness for being able to eat in her room, away from the prying eyes of the other royals, but he had spoken too soon. Too damn soon.

"I-" Lela started but Head Maid Magdalena cut her off. "It would be best to get going right now, Princess," Her lips curved into her signature smile.

"I will take care of the princess," Kimi offered and ran to the princess's side, tugging on her arm.

"I will leave it to you then," Magdalena said and left the room.

"Kimi, what in heaven's name is happening?" Kimi stared at her. Heaven's name. She had never heard that one before, but there were more pressing matters than what the Princess had said. She had to prepare the princess.

"I can not draw a bath for you right now since everyone is waiting. I will clean your mouth and get you a more presentable dress to wear," Kimi hurried to the Princess's closet and picked out a light blue dress that had little dark blue flowers on it. The Princess had loved that gown so much at some point.

Kimi helped the Princess into the dress after cleaning her mouth, then brushed her black hair and put a small black band around it, packing her hair into a low ponytail since she didn't have enough time to style it better. Lela loved it.

"We have to get going Princess, we have wasted enough time," Kimi rushed, pushing the princess out of the room. Lela took a deep breath and let it out through her mouth. She could do this. It was just breakfast, she could have Kimi sneak her lunch and dinner into her room, but she had to have this one meal with them since they were already waiting.

"Kimi, what if you tell them that I'm suddenly feeling under the weather? That my head hurts and I fainted?" Lela turned to Kimi, her clammy hands grabbing Kimi's hand, her puppy dog eyes, begging Kimi. Kimi shook her head.

"I don't think I can do this? See, I'm shaking," Lela tried again, but this time she was visibly shaking, but Kimi shook her head, standing her ground. Kimi usually had her back, so why was she refusing to do this one thing?

Kimi too was nervous, but she was trying to hold back because the princess was out of control, they both couldn't be out of control like that, it was risky.

"Calm down, Princess. You know, you are just as royal as they are, your father is equally a king of a huge kingdom. I do not think your nerves should be all over the place," Kimi placed a smile on her face. Lela nodded. It was true, she was supposed to be the princess of a huge kingdom too, a princess who was used to things like this, there was no reason why she should be scared, but that was the exact reason why she was scared because she was going to pretend to be something she has never been before.

"You have met the King and the Queen also, and I am sure you know they do not look intimidating," Lela closed her eyes and took in a breath, then she released and nodded her head.

"What's going on?" Lela couldn't forget that voice, even though she had just heard it once, she had heard it enough. It was Cora. Lela plastered a fake smile on her face.

"Cora," Lela blinked.

"Forgive my manners, good morning Princess, how was your rest?" Cora asked her, a smile Lela could swear was fake since it didn't reach her eyes, plastered on her pale skin.

"I rested well, how was yours?" Lela asked. Cora nodded and opened her arms, the sleeves of her white dress flowing after her arms movement.

"As you can see, I rested well also. Are you having trouble going to the dining area?" Cora asked, her fake smile turning into a mischievous one. How did the Princess stay friends with her? How was it possible that the princess didn't pick up on Cora's fake acts? Or did she pick up on it and decide to act just like Lela was doing?

"Why would I? I'm heading there right now," Lela raised her chin, pushed her chest out, and then turning to Kimi, she said, "Let's go, the King and Queen are waiting," Then she walked past Cora, leaving her standing there, shock evident on her face.
