Holly put the fruit basket she had gotten on the table. She had to come up with a plan. Even though she couldn't believe the old woman yet, she had to confirm what that woman knew.
Holly lay down on the sofa, looking in the mirror. She looked at her reflection. Her skin looked shinier, and her hair wasn't as tangled as it used to be. Her life had been really better since she met Felix.
Holly stood back while posing in front of the mirror. Her body was fatter than before. "Looks like I have to eat less."
She came from starvation to overeating. Moreover, they kept giving her meat. Every time Holly skipped the meal, Adda must come to bring food to her room.
"I don't want His Majesty to nag at me because you're not eating enough, Your Majesty." Adda always said that.
Holly smiled remembering how Felix always reminded her to eat even though he didn't eat with her. Thinking about him, Holly hasn't talked to him anymore lately. Felix seemed busy with his plan and Holly couldn't be of much help.
At the same time, suddenly there was a knock on Holly's bedroom door, Felix poked his head out, asking if he could come in.
"You called me?" Felix asked.
Holly had asked Gilbert when she could meet Felix. However, she did not expect that Felix himself would come to see her.
"I'm sorry, I'm not intending to be rude. I was about to meet you…"
"It's okay." Felix sat on the sofa, Holly immediately followed and sat in front of him.
"So, what's wrong?" Felix asked.
Holly bit her lip. She had no particular reason to meet Felix. She just wanted to see him, but she didn't expect Felix would come. Now, she had no topic to talk about.
"How good is your nose?"
Felix titled his head. "Excuse me?"
Holly regretted her question which sounded very strange. "Sorry, I mean, can you smell something and track it?"
Felix thought for a moment, figuring out how much he was capable of. "I think I can. But if you mean tracking down Arthur's scent, I've tried it. I sent some knights to track him down but we lost him. I don't know he cover his scent."
"If I go, will you be able to track my whereabouts?"
Felix nodded. "Of course. As long as you don't use a suppressant. It's easier to track human odours because the suppressant doesn't really cover their smell. But you didn't smell like other humans. So, it won't be easy."
Holly thought of something. Likely her plan would go well.
Felix narrowed his eyes. He sensed something fishy from Holly. It was unusual for Holly to call him over just to find out about this.
"You're not planning to run away, are you?"
Holly was taken aback by the question. "Running away? Where? There's nowhere I can go."
"Right. You can only be safe beside me," he said to himself.
They fell silent again. There was a big mirror behind Felix, Holly who sat in front of Felix can see her reflection. Seeing her reflection with Felix like this reminded Holly of someone who might have been beside him in the past.
"Do I look like her?" Holly suddenly asked.
What that old woman said became a burden to Holly's mind. She often wondered whether she was better than the late Queen or she was even worse than her. How about Felix, did Felix like the late Queen more than her?
"Who are you talking about?"
"Your ex-wife."
Felix frowned every time Holly mentioned her. He was uncomfortable when that woman was referred as his ex-wife. He never thought of her as a wife and neither did he think of himself as her husband. That term sounded weird, but he still couldn't deny the fact that they were married.
"Not at all. How can you think like that?"
"I heard from someone. She said I'm brave like her."
"No!" Felix immediately denied it. "You are not the same at all. Not one bit." Felix raised his voice.
Holly was startled at his reaction. "Sorry if I offended you."
Did Felix not accept that his wife was equated with her? Holly began to think all kinds of things.
"It is not like that. It's just that I don't want to equate you with that ugly witch."
Holly's eyes went wide. So it wasn't because Felix didn't accept his wife being equated with Holly, but he didn't like Holly being equated with his wife. Same words different means.
She might be rude by doing this but Holly couldn't hide her smile. Did she look good in front of Felix? At least better than his ex-wife.
"Just because I married her doesn't mean she's a good person. She is responsible for making us fall into this terrible situation." Felix clenched his fist remembering his ex-wife. His hatred for that woman was more than anything, even more than his hatred for his father.
Holly wanted to ask further, but Felix's expression made her guts shrink. Felix looked very angry.
[Does he have a grudge against his wife?] Holly thought as she squeezed her dress.
"Let's not talk about her. You are better than her, much better. You shouldn't compare yourself to that devil."
Holly nodded obediently. She thought Felix was saddened by the death of his ex-wife but he seemed to have a grudge against her. Holly didn't dare to ask more even though her curiosity made her chest tight.
Felix took a deep breath to calm down. But his nose moved when he smelled something strange. It was just a slight smell but his nose still caught it.
"Did you meet someone?" Felix asked.
Holly gulped. How could he know?
"No. I'm here all day," Holly lied. She still considered that woman's threat to hurt Arthur if she told anyone about it.
Felix stood up from his chair. Holly thought Felix must have smelled the old woman's scent from the fruit she brought, but Felix actually approached her. He bent down, bringing his face close to Holly's neck while Holly remained tense.
Felix sniffed her neck. His breath hit Holly's neck, giving her goosebumps and nervousness.
Felix turned his face to Holly. Those black irises stared at him intensely.
"I hate a liar."
