Chapter 23 - The Mysterious Golden-Haired Man

"Why did you marry someone you never met?"

Felix growled angrily. His eyes lit up, and his jaw tightened. His fists clenched tightly, and he tried not to hit the wall.

Holly was shocked to see his reaction. "Isn't that normal for a lady?"

Felix frowned. His eyes were sharper. "You can't. Why didn't you tell me you were almost married?" Felix snapped at Holly.

Meanwhile, Holly was confused by Felix, who suddenly got angry. "Why should I say that? You didn't even tell me you were married?" Holly fought back. She didn't accept being yelled at like that.

"It's just political marriage!"

"Me too!" Holly sighed. There was no point in responding to Felix's anger.

"The king arranged the marriage, but my father has not fully agreed. He wanted to find another man. But everything was messed up after what he did back then." Holly explained in a calmer voice. If she got emotional like Felix, this discussion wouldn't end.

Felix still looked angry. He approached Holly. He made her tremble, cornered between Felix and the window. If she was not careful, she could fall out of that window.

Felix grabbed her waist to secure her from falling. His eyes fixed on her with anger. "You chained to me, and now you can't marry anyone other than me." His voice was so deep it gave Holly goosebumps.

[What's wrong with him? Why does he act like this out of a sudden?]

Holly couldn't think straight. His scent got stronger than before. Felix lowered his head, bringing his face closer to Holly. She held Felix's shirt for support.

Felix seemed to have two personalities. Sometimes he was friendly, like the ideal man who could charm women. But a second later, he could turn into this, cold, fierce and intimidating. No matter how smart Holly was, she would never understand him.

Holly pushed Felix gently to get him away. "I'll find something we can eat."

Holly made an excuse to go out of this room, and Felix didn't stop her. He stood there with clenched teeth, trying to maintain his anger.

Holly rushed to go downstairs. There weren't many people in the inn. Still, Holly remained cautious. She passed the guard at the front smoothly, exiting the inn onto the bustling street. Holly knew it was a bad idea to wander around this road without Felix. But she couldn't stay with him too long when he was like that.

Holly was looking for anything to eat. This street was just filled with luxury shops. She forgot to bring Felix's gold, and her money wouldn't be enough to buy a piece of bread. Holly sighed in frustration. What can she get from these few silver coins?

Holly decided to find a quieter location. There might be cheaper sellers off these fancy streets. Holly's stomach growled. She hadn't had time to eat since earlier.

Suddenly a man hit her on the shoulder. Holly almost fell backwards, but that man caught her quickly.

"Be careful, My Lady," said the man.

Holly's hood was open. Her face was clearly visible in front of the man.

That man kept smiling at Holly although he saw who Holly was. Oh! Holly knew that face! Holly would never forget his red eyes. It was the man that Holly saw at the last royal banquet in the palace.

The man finally let go of his hand from Holly after helping her up. He fixed Holly's hood covering her face again.

"It's such a shame you have to hide this beautiful face."

Holly got goosebumps hearing his voice. That man's voice was less intimidating than Felix's, but Holly's instinct told her to be careful.

Holly just realized that she was in a deserted alley in the narrowest of circumstances like this. It was only her and that man in this place. Another man showed up at the end of the alley. He wore a cloak, and his face was covered with a hood, like Holly. However, Holly could see some golden hair sticking out of his hood.

The red eyes man smiled at Holly and bowed slightly. "I should take my leave. I hope we will meet again, Lady Reloux."

Holly wasn't surprised that the man knew her name. It wasn't the first time they met anyway.

[I hope we won't see each other again.] Holly doesn't want to meet such scary people. Maybe she just got lucky because that golden-haired man came.

The red eyes man walked away, leaving Holly towards the golden-haired man who waited for him with folded hands.

"Don't touch her. I've warned you." The golden-haired man said.

Holly froze. That voice... Even though Holly couldn't see his face, Holly recognized the voice very well. Arthur!

"Wait! Arthur!" Holly shouted.

She ran after the two men, but they had already walked away.

"Arthur!" Holly shouted again. She thought the golden-haired man was her brother.

Holly suddenly stopped running. She looked at the man's back with wide eyes.

But there was no way. It couldn't be Arthur.

Arthur was dead. And that was because of her.

"Arthur? Is that you? I'm sorry." Holly said very quietly.

Holly's legs gave in. She fell to the ground and began to sob. Her chest hurts like being stabbed by a thousand needles. Her guilt for Arthur hit her hard. She barely spoke nor breathed.

That golden-haired man stopped. With his back on her, he said, "Stand up. His Majesty wouldn't be happy to see you like this."

Holly stopped sobbing. She looked at his back in disbelief. He knew about Felix? Was he really Arthur?

"Do you really want to run away?"

Holly jumped to hear Felix's voice from the opposite direction. Felix appeared with an angry face, but he looked surprised when he saw Holly on the ground.

"What happened? Are you hurt?" He immediately approached Holly and helped her up.

Holly turned her attention back to those men. But they are gone, only she and Felix were left there.

Suddenly Felix froze. The look on his face was furious. "I smelled a wolf. Did he hurt you?"

"No. I'm fine." Holly's voice was soft and quivering. She was still confused about where the two men had disappeared.

Felix suddenly raised one of his hands and commanded his knights to come out.

A knight came out of nowhere, bent down upon him.

"Find someone who was here. I smelled a wolf and..." He paused for a moment. "And a slight Justin scent."
