Chapter 10 - A Night With You

"I will."

There's a wind that blew, as Felix said that again. Holly could see the sincerity in his eyes. The corners of his lips lifted, his sharp eyes looked at her warmly.

"I did not make you as a Queen to be a puppet. You are still my wife as long as our agreement goes on. You can make decisions as a Queen. And as long as your decision does not harm my people, I will support you."

Holly's stomach tingled. Her heartbeat was faster, as if there was a rose blooming in her chest.

The sunset became an orange background behind Felix. The afternoon wind blew her hair. Wildflowers around him made Felix look more splendid.

"Thank you." That was all Holly could say.

However, Holly was very grateful. This was the first time someone had said that he would support her.

Holly turned her face away bashfully. She tried to turn her attention elsewhere. She didn't want Felix see her blushing face. She was lucky. A stray dog was around with her cubs.

Holly approached the mother dog and her puppies. At first, they looked scared. But Felix raised his hand behind Holly and signalled the dog to calm down.

"Sorry, did we bother you?" said Holly politely. She was afraid of her presence and Felix disturbing the dog family event.

Meanwhile, Felix watched from behind with a confused face.

"Ah, I'm Holly. Nice to meet you." Holly bowed slightly. Even though she would be a Queen, Holly still wanted to pay respect to others.

"Do you live in the village too?" Holly was still friendly with the dog and her cubs.

Felix stifled a laugh behind Holly. "What are you doing?"

"I'm just trying to be close to your people, Your Majesty," said Holly.

"I appreciate your effort. But they just dog."

Holly was wide-eyed. She pointed at Felix and the dog in turn. "But you can change..."

"Not all animals can change. They're just dogs passing by. But you're right. They are still counted as my people."

"They aren't weredogs or something?" Holly mumbled quietly. If there were werewolves, there could be weredogs or werecats. At least, that was how Holly thinking.

Felix tried hard not to burst out laughing now. "No. There's nothing like that."

[I feel stupid!] Holly covered her face with her palms. She must have looked so stupid in front of Felix. Her face and ears were very red with embarrassment.

Gently, Felix took Holly's hand and lowered them from her face.

"It's okay. Here, try this." Felix offered some berries to divert the atmosphere. He couldn't bear to see Holly humiliated by her own action.

Holly hastily picked up the berries out of nervousness. But her eyes sparkled when she realized how delicious those berries were.

"I can't believe these berries still exist in this era." Felix also ate several.

"I never saw this." Holly was still mesmerized by the sweet and sour taste of the berries.

Felix turned his attention to Holly. He was stunned for a moment. Holly's lips were red from the berries she ate.

Felix's hand lifted, he rubbed the remaining red on her lips. "Red suits your lips."

Holly didn't understand. She just nodded innocently.

"I can't wait to see you tomorrow," Felix said again.

"You haven't explained what my duties as Queen are. Except being a Goddess."

Felix chuckled. "Actually, not many. You just need to listen to the people's pleas and pass them to me. And if I lose control, I need you to stop me."

Stop him? How to stop a wolf? Holly felt weak every time she remembered that she was only human.

"Can I stop you?"

"You can." Felix wanted to tell her that she got absolute power over him. Felix was not stupid. He knew since the first time Holly said he smelled something sweet on him.

They were meant to be mate.

But that didn't make sense, even for him. No human had ever mated with a werewolf like him. Moreover, he was a King.

Even the late Queen was not destined to be his mate.

He was an Alpha. He needed an omega, not a human. But the fact that Holly could wake him up was an actual proof that they were meant to be together.

Indeed, telling Holly was the worst idea. They barely knew each other, and Felix doesn't want to get too attached to her.

[I'm only responsible for involving her. That's all.] Felix was still repeating that spell in his mind.

Besides, Felix doesn't want Holly to know that she has the power to control Felix. She could tell Felix to do whatever she wanted, and Felix wouldn't let that ever happen.

"Why are you suddenly being nice to me?" Finally, that question came out from her lips. She had been holding it since yesterday.

Felix took two steps back from Holly. "I'm not. And I will never be nice to you," he said. His voice sounded heavier than before.

"What you did to me was considered nice, Your Majesty."

Felix shook his head. "Don't expect too much from me. I'm a person you shouldn't trust."

Holly knew that. She never trusts anyone, not even Cass or Gilbert.

"Don't worry, I don't trust anyone."

Felix sighed. If Holly wants to stay alive, then she must not trust anyone. Even Felix, who knew his people so well, still kept his distance from others. Anyone could be a traitor.

The sun was going down soon. Holly was a little worried because this place would soon be dark.

But sure, Felix wouldn't let them sit still in the darkness, though that was not a problem for him. He approached the lake, with his hands, he made small splashes.

Right at that moment, a blue light suddenly appeared from the water. These were flowers! Blue flowers were blooming and glowing in the water, making the lake shine brightly.

"Light flowers. You have to move the flowers to make them glow." Felix explained.

Holly's eyes sparkled at the beautiful scenery. What was in front of her looked unreal.

"I witnessed many magical things these days. Everything feels like a dream. Those flowers, the castle, the curse, and you."

Their eyes met. Felix smiled slightly.

"I can't believe you weren't human," Holly said again. She got this strange feeling every time she looked into Felix's eyes.

"Are you afraid?"

Holly couldn't help but nod. She didn't lie. In fact, she was afraid of the wolf.

"You have to get used to it. May I?"

Felix was right. If Holly wanted to live with them, she had to get used to the wolves. "You can do it, Your Majesty," said Holly without hesitation.

Felix stepped back, leaving enough distance between himself and Holly. Within seconds, his body bent and enlarged. Black furs appeared on his skin, his nails tapering into claws. And finally, he turned himself to be a black wolf.
