Layla struggled to believe the man that David made Henry out to be. Did he really not socialize with the wolves of his pack that often? Could it really be because he thought that he was above them? David had no reason to lie to her, but Layla just couldn't imagine that what he was saying was the truth.
Not after what she had seen of Henry in the Silva forest. He hadn't had any problem socializing with any of the wolves there, even the betas, even Jake who tried to challenge him so many times.
But maybe it was different here in the city, Layla allowed. Maybe Henry had to keep a little bit of a distance, to keep everyone safe. She knew that was why he had asked her to stay in his apartment those first few days, he had been afraid that something was going to happen to her. Maybe Henry kept away from his pack, or kept from socializing with them too much for the same reason.
