Arden flew closer and stepped onto the window frame. He looked down and sat there beside Runa, who was still standing leaning against the window. Arden's wings had disappeared, and so had his scythe.
They stared at each other in silence. It was long enough for Runa to feel her own heartbeat, which was flowing as the clock ticked by.
"What else do you know?" asked Arden. His hands rested beside his body.
Even though all of his attributes had disappeared, the light that had overshadowed him earlier seemed to still linger, surrounding him like a halo.
Runa could finally look away. She looked ahead, into the thick forest around her house. "Not much, actually." Her hands were clasped as she recalled the information she got from Ethan's book. "You're not an angel," she muttered. "But you're on par with them."
