I'm not sure how long I had been running, but I eventually managed to find to a road! Well, 'road'. Though considering this is a fantasy world, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the road is just packed dirt. Alternatively, it's a fantasy world, so it shouldn't be too hard to use something... more impactful for the road. Though it would mean it would be more difficult to maintain...
I walk along the road, lost in my thoughts. I stopped using magic to enhance my speed once I managed to reach the road. And since I have no idea which way is which, I just started walking.
No idea why my general knowledge hasn't kicked in yet, maybe I need to encounter the town to get the knowledge?
'Whatever. I guess I'll find out when I get there.' I look up and down the empty road. "Unless this is a road leading to some kind of ancient haunted ruins ruled by a lich! Ooh! Or maybe it's a city where everyone is controlled by some kind of body-snatching parasite! It could also...'
I lose myself in my thoughts as I walk, coming up with more and more scenarios as to why I haven't encountered anyone on the road yet. But then, it happens.
I meet someone!
It's the cliche old farmer riding on a cart! And he's heading this way from the direction I'm walking! This should be a good chance to get some ask about where I'm going, and hopefully trigger my general knowledge gift.
I open my mouth to ask, but then I finally notice what's pulling his cart. It's not horses, or any kind of fantasy style equivalent, like I'd expected. But a giant demon chicken!
My mouth stays stuck open as I stare at the beast. Standing a good six feet tall at least, its feathers are a dark red, similar in color to dried blood. On its head are a pair of horns following the curve of its head, the points resting just above its eyes.
As the farmer approaches, he gives me a look over. A very lecherous look over. "Hey girl. You better close that mouth before someone takes it as an invitation to stick something in it. Though considering what you are, you'd probably enjoy it like the bitch you are! Gehehehe."
I immediately close my mouth and give the farmer a dirty look. Of course, me being me, the first thing out of my mouth is, "That's dogs. A female dog is called a bitch. Shouldn't someone of your EXCEPTIONAL age know something like that? Or wait, maybe you're going senile? In that case it would make sense for you to start getting confused. Poor old man." I shake my head in mock pity before stepping off the road to avoid the man's demon chicken and cart.
To my surprise though, the man pulls on the reins and stops the cart. Having a bad feeling about where this is going, I *Identify* him.
*Name: Kyle
Race: Human
Class: Farmer
L.V: 14
Health: 250
Mana: 200*
Not good. A quick check of my own stats confirms that I'm sitting at full for mana and health.
As he stomps over to me, his face turns red. "Listen here you little demi-human filth," he spits out. Literally, I can see spittle flying off his lips. Gross. "the only use any of your filthy kind have is as slaves, or as f*ck-meat. Got it?" He gives me a threat filled grin. "So as an apology for being so disrespectful, how about you get on your knees and do your duty. Since I was in such a good mood before I met you, I'll only use your mouth before I'm on my way."
My face quickly turns more and more disgusted as the scum in front of me continues to speak. The whole time I'm repeating a mantra in my head. 'Don't attack the old man. Don't attack the old man. Don't attack the old man.' When he starts to untie his pants though, I lose it.
I quickly jump at him, extending my claws as I do so. He freezes for a moment, as if surprised at how quick I am to turn to violence.
That moment costs him.
Before my swing can reach his throat, I manage to infuse my claws with a wind enhancement to make them sharper. Afterall, I can't be certain that they'll be sharp enough to pierce his neck.
But to my surprise, they go right through. The way a hot knife goes through butter is the only way I can think of it. They go right through his throat, one side to the other, and I'm stuck.
I'm in shock as I watch him raise both hands to his throat, trying to stem the flood of blood flowing out. His eyes are wide as he stares at me in shock. It looks like he tries to say something, but I seems that I cut through his windpipe as well. Soon enough, he drops to his knees, his hands falling from his throat as he topples over to the side.
I watch as he falls. As the light leaves his eyes. As the pool of blood spreads underneath him. Then I stare at my right hand, still in the same position as it was after it left his throat. At the blood dripping off my claws, adding to the growing puddle.
The area is silent except for the shuffling of the demon chicken, and the sound of the dripping blood. The scene is interrupted a few minutes later by the sound of a notification.
