Susan entered the room and stood in place for a while before her eyes gradually adjusted to the light in the room.
Unlike in the hallway, the floor was covered with a thick carpet and there was almost no sound to walk on. The furniture in the room looked like dark figures, as if someone was hiding in the shadows. There was still the smell of lanolin candles in the air as if the owner of the room had just left.
Susan stood there hesitantly, looking around. She saw two exits with wooden doors on a nearby wall. Between the two doors was a fireplace. Susan approached the fireplace and bent down to look, only to find that the ashes in the fireplace had been swept clean. The fireplace should not have been used for a long time.
Above the fireplace hung a huge portrait painting. From the way she was dressed and the crown she was wearing, Susan guessed she was a queen, in her twenties, beautiful but melancholy.
