After Lady Weber explained her behavior, Susan accepted Lady Weber's good intentions.
As Susan had said before, she was neither clever, pretty, nor intelligent and had nothing to offer but a little seamstress skill. If Lady Weber wanted to seduce ministers with beautiful girls, there were plenty of better options than her. And they would undoubtedly be more tame and obedient than she was.
Susan sat back in her chair. Lady Weber continued to work on her hair.
Susan heard Lady Weber whisper, "That woman taught you well."
"Which woman?" Susan was silent for a moment.
Lady Weber did not answer directly but said something specious: "Some things are born in the bloodline. A mouse doesn't become a swan even if it wears white feathers."
"You're absolutely right. So I'll just stick to normal dresses."
"I'm not talking about you. Lady Weber interrupted Susan, "You... you're not like them, not like everyone."
