9:00 pm city bridge
A black car is parked on the bridge away from the eyes of the public. A bodyguard was the only person standing a few steps from the car to keep away unwanted attention.
After about five minutes, the door opens, and a female emerges with a scarf wrapped around her head and shades adorning her pretty face.
As soon as the bodyguard enters the car, it drives off into the dark. Tina turns to look at the car driving off and smirks "I guess some people are more reliable than family." she says.
She says this about her father, who had turned his back on her.
Inside the car that had driven away, Carter Beckett is ecstatic, judging by the rumbling laughter in his chest. With a cigar in his hands, the old man was already celebrating a victory he wasn't sure he would get.
If it's Beckett, anything to raffle the Alpha wolf's fur would get him smiling. With a cigar between his fingers, he clouded the inside of the car with smoke.
"Boss, you should cut on the smoke."
"I am old, not sick, Black. I am only happy" he took another drag and smiled.
"Not yet sick, but you will be dying at the rate at which you are going," mumbled Black
"Did you say anything, Balck?"
"Of course not, sir"
Carter Beckett had been keeping tabs on Alex for some time now, and there had been a constant. A doctor who was in and out of his home for over a month.
Mr. Ford seemed to be hiding something, and Carter wasn't going to stop till he found out. It would be a lie if he said he wasn't scared. Over the past ten years, he had waited for a reaction from the wolves, but nothing came.
The more he waited, the more he got anxious. The anticipation had given him nightmares because he wondered what Alex was planning.
After he had sent his son Christopher to infiltrate the Ford group, he hoped for more information to strengthen himself against Alex, but his son took it as an opportunity to turn his back on him.
The whole thing had angered Carter Beckett, especially since his son picked the enemy's side. Christopher had cut the string his father had tied around him to control his life. Knowing Alex was the greatest thing to ever happen to him after his mother. He wasn't willing to use his own hands to destroy it. So, he extended the losing end of the stick to his father.
Because he owned a telecommunication company, Carter Beckett had spied on the Ford group and was able to get the proposal information. With the help of the X4, the whole proposal fell into his hands. The greedy father-daughter dual passed it over to the Ford group's competition.
Everything had played out smoothly without anyone from the Ford group knowing. Carter Beckett had hoped for a reaction from Alex or the company, but nothing had come out from their side. He was disappointed when nothing showed up on the media: only something about the Ford group not participating.
He was shocked to find out that three years later, the company was still following the issue. Of course, Alex wouldn't let their hard work waste, especially not to his competition.
He needed to get something to use against Alex, not after him separating his son from him. He needed something to use against him, and who better to get it than an "innocent" woman?
Carter Beckett had kept his son as a retirement plan, but watching him Take the enemy's side makes him regret not killing all the wolves when he had the chance.
"Can I ask you something, Mr. Beckett?" asked Black
Carter Beckett nodded in response, grateful that he was pulled out of the dark pit his mind had fallen.
"What will you do after finding out what Mr. Ford is hiding? Of course, if there is anything to hide."
Carter looked at Black wondering why he was asked such a question "ten years ago, I cast a dark cloud over the heads of the wolves thinking that it would bring me peace, but" He rubbed his thumb in thought. "nothing fills peaceful especially if I have to have nightmares from that fateful night. They didn't have to seek me out, but I have paid with sleepless nights."
Carter explained in sadness.
"Shouldn't that be reason enough to let it go?"
"Then I wouldn't be a hunter, would I? My father almost destroyed this legacy when he signed some stupid document."
Black was silent with nothing to add, so he looked ahead as he drove.
"I hate the wolves, but I know of someone who loathes their mere existence. I wouldn't have to do much because of that person, who will be concluding it for me.
