"How did it go, Sir?"
"I would like you to pull every footage from the cameras around my home," Alex instructed
Arnold looked at his boss to decipher any reason that would warranty that "Someone has been keeping tabs on my house."
Beckett's words had gotten to him despite the strong front that he had put. There was only one thought running through his mind 'Malia.'
"Of course, Sir. I will contact Amber to help out,`" answered Arnold
"Don't call her, do it alone. Maybe Cross and the others could help. I wouldn't want Luna finding out; she is still fragile."
For as long as all the wolves were concerned, the paparazzi included, no one had the balls to spy on Mr. Ford. So who is this? After watching how Mr. Ford almost bit off Dr. Henry's ears because of Luna's situation despite it being none of his fault, Arnold could see the person's fate from where he stood.
"Of course, Mr. Ford" Arnold couldn't wait to catch the stupid fool
"To the office, Marcus."
"Why is that brat's car still parked at the entrance?" Beckett asked his subordinate.
He had hoped for a reaction from Alex when he mentioned a doctor going in and out of his home, but the man kept such a straight face he wouldn't draw out a conclusion. Or maybe it wasn't anything serious?
Despite keeping a spy around Alex's home area, Beckett didn't have solid evidence to say he got something. All he saw was a doctor and sometimes a nurse 'Was Mr. Ford hiding a woman in his house?'
"I am not sure, Sir. Could it be that he is watching you too?" Black answered
"What do you mean watching me? That man isn't all that" Having wounded someone so deeply and still not getting a reaction out of them for ten years is nerve-wracking. Carter Beckett has watched Alex struggle through a loss for the past ten years and still manage to claim a throne for himself beating all the other business moguls in the country.
"You shouldn't have provoked him, Sir, because if he were hiding something, he would do anything to hide it further. I bet he is finding reasons to counterattack." Black did fear for his boss because one shouldn't make enemies of everyone. Maybe anyone, but not a strong man like Alex Basil Ford. The guy was a beast to his enemies.
"Oh, please. The is a coward" Carter Beckett would never buy into the whole Alex is a dangerous man who could make his enemies disappear. If it were so, why was he still moving around?
"Contact that girl and set up a meeting away from everyone's eyes." instructed Beckett.
"The minister is ready for you, Sir" After Alex riled the minister up, he needed time to calm himself down.
"Of course. Lead the way" The secretary bowed in respect and led Carter Beckett towards the minister's office.
Alex returned to the office to finish the day's work because he still had quite a lot to do. He also sent Arnold to his house to work on the assignment.
"Marina, bring me the document with the agreement with Mr. Malcom." Alex requestion through the intercom.
With her efficiency, Marina brought the file over immediately "can I anything else, Sir?"
"A cup of coffee, please" It was already past lunchtime, and Alex couldn't get himself to eat with the knowledge that someone out there could be having information on his mate.
"Yes, Dawson?" Alex answered as soon as his home line had called.
"It's not Mr. Dawson." came the beautiful voice of his mate, and just like that, a smile adorned Alex's face.
"Yes, baby. Anything wrong?" he asked calmly.
"Nothing is wrong. It's just that I am bored, and I miss Amber. I would like to go and visit her."
Alex didn't want to say no to her, but with the information from Carter Beckett, he wouldn't want to take any risk.
"I understand how you feel, princess, but the Dr. hasn't cleared you on outside engagements. Could you wait a little bit, maybe a few more days? Okay?"
Silence from the other side of the phone. Alex wondered what she was thinking. Was she angry? He would take her anger any time, any day, as long as she would be safe.
"Okay. Have a nice day." And with that, the call was cut.
Alex removed the phone from his ears, his thumb hovering over her name while he debated on whether to call her back, but decided against it because what he did was the right thing at the moment.
"Baby, you will understand one day" He picked up his coffee cup and sipped. Marina had brought it while he was on the phone as quietly as possible.
