Chapter 67 - Chapter 67

With everything that happened with the X4, Alex believed that it was about time the wolf found a home, and it wasn't going to be anywhere else aside from his fellow wolves.

According to him, the wolf had suffered enough, and although he wasn't sure what pack it belonged to, it was still one of them.

The government was keeping its cards close to the chest as regards the investigations about the wolf and how it arrived in Light town.

He didn't want to be caught off guard by everything, especially with them not knowing how long the wolf would have to stay in its animal form. It could suddenly turn and the alarm it will raise by then is not something all of them were ready for.

Having the wolf with them would help them dig to the roots of what was going on at the lab, and maybe they could avoid or know how to weather the storm that he was sure would come.

Alex calls Daniel and gives the order for the wolf to be broken out of the animal rescue center the next day. They should do it now because of the suspicions going on so that it could still be tied to the previous attackers.

"Leave no tracks," He said before hanging up

"Come in," Alex said when he heard the knock on his door

In walked Arnold holding some files "Everything is ready Sir. The driver is at the entrance" Said, Arnold

Alex was on his way to visit the Almond group, and he wasn't willing to lose. Whichever way this meeting goes, he would win. They had enjoyed profits worth thousands of millions for the past two years and that was it.

At the Almond group, a meeting room was organized for Mr. Ford. Alex had initially asked to speak with the Chairman alone, but the unruly son of the Chairman; CEO Fredrick Almond got a whiff of the news and decided that it was better for all the executives to be around.

The chairman wasn't happy, but he saw reasons for his son's suggestion. Mr. Ford wouldn't pressure them in the presence of many people.

"Excuse me, Sir, Mr. Ford has arrived" Reported the secretary

"How many people are with him?" asked Mr. Fredrick

"Ony his secretary, Sir" responded the secretary.

The smirk on Fredrick's face was creepy for the secretary to look at, so she shook her head and left.

Fredrick couldn't hide his excitement for what will follow later. The nerve of Alex coming to their establishment with only his secretary. He couldn't wait to break his confidence so that he could return with his head bowed down.

Alex was directed to the meeting room, and he was surprised to see all the people in the room. He remembered asking for a meeting with the chairman alone, but here he was, in a room filled with everyone the company could gather.

Alex looked around and his eyes met those of Fredrick, who understood what was happening. People who are in the wrong, surely know how to play righteous.

Alex wasn't in the mood to play games with anyone because the main reason that he was here was to do right by his employees who had worked their selves hard just to come up with that proposal.

According to how the company was prospering with the inclusion of the exportation business, Alex could conclude that his employees did right by that proposal. The Almond group was licking honey from a spoon that wasn't theirs and they were lifting their shoulders.

If he didn't lower those shoulders, then he wasn't Alexander Basil Ford. Arranging for a meeting with the company's chairman was a sign of respect, but he must have been the fool.

Once Alex was seated, he couldn't help but point out the obvious "Chairman Almond if I remember correctly, I asked for a meeting with you alone," Alex spoke looking at he to whom his words were directed.

Chairman Almond was a little embarrassed because of the way things looked, it could be said that he had gone back on his words, and that wasn't good for a businessman: your words carried much water.

"I am sorry, Mr. Ford. I should have informed you of the changes once they were made" Chairman Ford apologized to Alex, but didn't forget to shoot his son a warning look.

Fredrick could see his father's warning look but decided to overlook it. He saw his father as an old man who had served his purpose for the company, and it was time for him to get the reigns.

He turned to Alex with a smirk "Mr. Ford, why are you whining like a kid whose candy has been snatched? This is not Ford group where your words should be respected."

Forget about playing nice, Alex turned to Fredrick and agreed "Yes, my candy has been snatched indeed, and I know who did it"

Only the chairman knew the gravity of what was going on but decided that his son should learn to be humble and he was going to let Mr. Ford do that.

"I had come here with the intent of finding common ground between us, but as we can all see, you people had something else in your minds." Alex reminded them by hinting that his coming was a peaceful one.

The executives were puzzled, especially after learning that they had stepped on Mr. Ford's toe. They all knew of his reputation and how he kept his words with those who crossed him wrongly. He did not play nice all the time.

"Three years ago our companies were competing for a project by the government, and yours won but, have you ever wondered how you did that?"

"By presenting the perfect proposal, how else do you think?" Fredrick threw in his smirky comment

He was proud that the first project he had handled after joining the company was against the goat of business, and much to his satisfaction, he beat him hands down.

Alex looked at Chairman Almond as if to say sorry for whatever he was going to do next, but the older man only shook his head in agreement.

Chairman Almond knew who Alex was as a person and how he ran his business. He was a straight talker, and never went behind anyone's back.

"Yes, you presented a proposal, but ever wondered where that proposal came from?" Alex asked calmly. He wasn't one to lose his composure easily, but thanks to his composure, and question, he had ruffled Fredrick's feather.

"What do you mean by where the proposal came from? The Creative and Planning department of course," Fredrick didn't like Alex's way of putting things, especially the underlying reason why he would ask such a question.
