Chapter 64 - Chapter 64

When Malia left the kitchen, she went over to doctor Henry and asked to speak to him. She led him to Alpha Ford's home office hoping that they could speak separately.

"Yes, Malia, what is your mind?" Doctor Henry asked as soon as he had shut the door behind him.

Malia, who thought that she had picked up enough courage to speak to the doctor started fidgeting as soon as he faced her. She didn't know how to sound her thoughts to him and still be on the good side of Mr. Ford.

Doctor Henry looked at her and saw her hesitance to speak "You can talk to me, Malia. I don't know why we are doing this behind Mr. Ford, but we are in his house."

"It's just that I am scared" Malia voiced the demon haunting her thoughts.

Doctor Henry left the door he was backing and moved to the seat next to the fidgety young lady. "You know that the babies you are carrying are both of your responsibilities right?"

Malia had not seen or thought of it that way; her only fear lay with her old wound that still hurt although they were pushed a little down within her.

Deep down within her, Malia knew that Mr. Ford wasn't as selfish as her dad, but when she saw him, and how sweet he was, it reminded her of her father before she was born.

"Do you think that Mr. Ford ever bails on the babies if something was to happen to me?" The question poured out of her lips with a drop of a tear.

She had scratched the scar that had refused to heal despite the many years that have passed by. Every year new year got her wondering whether the cycle would pass, and she didn't want the same for her babies.

Living like you are constantly gasping for air is not something she wished on any child, especially her own, and that is why she asked why she had doctor Henry in the study room.

"Is one month enough for me to get healthy enough to carry the twins to nine months and still have a normal birth?" Malia finally asked

She raised her head and found both Alex and doctor Henry looking at her with different expressions.

Alex could feel her pain, but a little hurt that she didn't get through to him first, and doctor Henry could see the fear written all over her.

For all that it's worth, Alex knew that this wasn't his moment to go all Alpha and hero, and decided to let her open herself, either in his presence or alone with doctor Henry; that was her call to make.

"I am sorry that I interrupted your talk, but I didn't see you at the dining and got worried, so I decided to check on you" Alex explained his presence.

Just as Doctor Henry put it out, the twins belong to both her and Mr. Ford. So, she might as well, involve in him the little loops lagging in her mind.

"It's ok, Sir. It was wrong of me to try and hide it from you. I mean it's your house and the twins belong to not only me but you too."

Her statement melted the ice that had started to solidify all around Alex. He might have not shown it, but her opinions about him mattered so much; he was scared of being on her wrong side.

He walked from where he was standing near the door to moving next to her. Doctor Henry moved to sit on the seat opposite them. Seems like it had turned into a consultation now.

When Alex sat next to Malia, he hesitated but still held her hand "This house belongs to me, the twins, and the twins' mother. Ok? He clarified while looking her straight in the eyes.

Doctor Henry looked at the two of them and how they were lost in each other's eyes, and decided that it wasn't what he had signed up for when he had agreed to speak with Malia.

He awkwardly interrupted with a cough and pulled the two who were lost in each other's eyes to break eye contact.

Malia felt embarrassed but was saved by doctor Henry who decided to answer her question "To answer your question, Miss. Thatcher," Doctor Henry started but paused to look at Malia as if to make sure that she was looking at him "Being in the induced coma would boost your body strength, and the nutrients that are going to be provided during the time will be for the babies and your body to strengthen. To make it clearer, we can avoid the extra activities that could share some of the nutrients and energy"

"Does that mean that I will be a strong mother by the time I wake up?" Her smile was a little to hide, but that didn't rule out her doubts. She was hopeful.

"I don't know if it's in my place to ask, but is there a specific reason as to why you asked that question? Is there something that I should know as your doctor?"

Doctor Henry knew that it wasn't his place to ask that, but he wanted to rule out all the possibilities.

The question was rattling a little for Malia and with all the facial expressions that were going through her face, Alex wasn't taking it well.

Doctor Henry could see the protective stance that he was taking, and he signaled for him to go low with the whole Alpha stance. He could see Malia willing to open up to him with the way she had raised her head. Looked like she was willing to extend a tiny piece of that leaf.

"My mother died while having me. I don't know much about her situation, but her death threw some weights my way, and still carries them till now"

After saying that, she stood up, and told the two gents that they needed to head out and have breakfast.

Both doctor Henry and Alex agreed, and then followed her out of the study room.

"It was about time that the guests got some attention in this home" Amber spoke as soon as her sight had landed on Malia walking towards them.

She apologized for having neglected her friend, and Mr. Denis. Breakfast was served, and as they sat down to have it, Mr. Dawson came in and turned on the tv screen.

The news spoilt the mood for all the four people in the dining aside from Malia who didn't know much about it.
