Dysabella's hands rubbed together. Mattias' touch stung her like a bee sting, and the sensation lingered. What happened between the girl and the red-robed prince is a mystery to her. Skin-to-skin contact creates a problem. Mattias could have used his magic on her. Dysabella, on the other hand, felt powerless when she saw and heard King Michael's crown prince whimpering and stroking his hands.
Dysabella was jolted out of her reverie by the sound of thudding objects. She could hear a muffled voice from behind her parents' bedroom not long after. The blue-eyed girl sprang out of bed and out of her room without thinking. She was taken aback by the state of the living room, which was already a shambles.
"Who are you? Please don't harm them!"
When Dysabella saw Jonathan and Amely kneeling with their wrists tied and mouths covered, she couldn't keep back her sobs. Furthermore, the entire room is like a sunk ship. The table tumbled over, and the parents' room was wide open as some of the items fell and smashed. Dysabella could see Jonathan's shambles from her vantage point, Amely too.
Dysabella took a look at the three people in front of her, all of whose faces were unfamiliar. One was a lady, while the other two were men. Jonathan and Amely were bound by two men dressed in black sleeveless leather armor and high boots. The woman was dressed in a green robe and black boots. Dysabella appeared to recognize the woman from somewhere, but where?
"I didn't believe we'd see each other again, weepy girl," the woman smirked. Her aura emanated such a commanding presence. Several daggers were visible hanging over his belt from beneath his coat. Dysabella finally recognized who she was looking at.
"Are you the green-robed lady? The one who rescued me."
"Yes, Kid. Exactly! That night, when you were going to become food for those filthy troops, I was the one who saved you." Dysabella was concerned Merapi would hear the woman's laughter because it was so loud. "You are the Last Rain ain, I didn't realize. I've been hunting for this Binturi for a long time."
Dysabella and her parents' eyes widened in amazement, and they couldn't hide it. How did she know? Even Merapi is unsure who was responsible for the forest's destruction, the deaths of two of its members, or the identity of the Last Rain. Alternatively, the information may have already circulated. Everyone was aware of her whereabouts, and the entire Dzkarda army planned to apprehend him and put him to death in front of a large audience.
She is a stunning woman. His complexion was brown and shined in the faint light of the lanterns and moon, she was tall and ideally, body tucked on the back of her robes. Her wavy brown hair was a contrast to her razor-sharp brown eyes. Her brows were heavy and long, and she had a ferocious expression on her face.
"What did you do to my parents? What exactly are you looking for? You're mistaken, I am not the Last Rain. Allow them to depart now."
"You still want to avoid it. I'm not letting your parents go since I'm sure the two elderly people will talk too much." The lady gave a small laugh. "At this point, nothing matters more than the world's and people's safety."
Dysabella couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the woman. "I'm sorry, but I don't get it."
"Dysabella, please come with me."
Where does this woman know Dysabella name? "What do you want from me?"
Dysabella became numb as the woman drew closer to her. Dysabella was eyed expectantly by the green cloak. In the brown eyes of the woman, there is a big hope. "This is something me and everyone else have been looking forward to for a long time. The Last Rain. Come to me, Dysabella."
"I told you, I'm not—"
The woman interjected, "Please don't dodge again. Now I know your identity."
For a long period, Dysabella was silent.
Dysabella was surprised when the woman grasped one of her hands. "This is not a safe environment for you to be in. You are our only hope, the world's only hope, and your own country's only hope. Everyone, including all the creatures residing in this world, will benefit from your presence. Dysabella, please come to me for the world."
"Where to?"
The woman remained silent and turned to her two companions. "Leave Jonathan and Amely free. I need them to hear what I'm saying."
Even she knows Dysabella's parents' names. Jonathan and Amely have been set free. However, the two of them remained silent, as if everything was alright.
"You haven't responded to me yet," Dysabella stated. "Where to?"
She continued softly, "Exploring the ability and magic that is within you."
"What?"
"You are the Rain Clan, and you can put an end to the drought and the long-running water problem. You can also put an end to Dzkarda and the Fire Clansmen's colonialism."
"What exactly do you mean when you say that? Would you like to take our child?" Amely remarked.
The woman grumbled angrily. "Shit, why did I let her free."
"And so it goes, old mother and old father," says the woman. Between Dysabella and her parents, the woman walked towards the center. "You can no longer deny who your children are. And do you realize what Dysabella can accomplish for the world?"
Jonathan and Amely exchanged glances. "What?"
"Dysabella can call rain and water. The Rain Clans' most powerful spell is that." says the woman. The lady went on to explain. "It also has the potential to address the long-standing global water crisis. Dysabella represents the world's best hope."
Jonathan couldn't understand what was going on. "What makes you think that? Is that possible?"
"Obviously can, if he wants to learn." The woman exchanged glances with Amely and Jonathan. "It is not something that can be taught by just anyone. Not you, not me, It can only be taught by those who understand it. And I know of who it is."
Amely walked over to her and took her daughter's hand in hers. "My child, will not be able to defeat Dzkarda. They're ruthless and powerful."
"Yes," the woman replied as she approached Amely and her daughter. "There isn't much, yet some members of the Rain Clan are capable of exceeding their limitations. Amely, I'm sure your daughter can. She can help us, everyone in this world."
"How does the example look?" Jonathan inquired.
"Because you're over fifty, you've probably heard of Morva, a Rain Clan-only settlement." Her hands were clasped in front of her. "The island sank and drowned by his people. Few Rain Clans are capable of doing so, but I'm confident Dysabella can. Dzkarda maybe can be drowned by her."
Dysabella and her parents, understandably, were astounded.
"However, Dzkarda is vast; after decades of colonizing neighboring countries, he has already succeeded in increasing his dominion," Jonathan added. "Beating them is quite difficult. It's an excessive number."
"That's all I can think of right now, so late. I'm confident that I'll be able to find allies willing to fight beside me." The woman appeared to be convinced. "Right now, the most important thing is that Dysabella wants to join me in exploring and learning her powers."
Dysabella was the focus of Jonathan and Amely's attention. "We entrust the answer to our children," Amely explained.
Dysabella seemed perplexed as she examined the woman. "How much longer must I study till I can sink Dzkarda?"
"I admire your drive, Girl." The woman burst out laughing. "At least fifteen years."
"WHAT?!" Dysabella and her parents were both taken aback.
"That was just too long," Jonathan remarked. "I was concerned Dysabella would be apprehended before sinking Dzkarda."
"Nothing is simple, Jonathan. Your daughter is the Last Rain, a survivor of the devastation. It will take a long time to put the world back together since it is too broken," firmly stated the woman. "Dysabella must master the art of conjuring rain and bringing water. And filling parched rivers, and dry oceans, and all will take a year. Dzkarda can only be drowned if there is water nearby."
"The duty is enormous, and the responsibility is enormous. The more rivers that are filled, the more magic there will be in this world," explained to the woman as she drew the sentence to a close.
"What do you think, Honey?" Jonathan rubbed Dysabella's face as he moved up to her. "Baba and Ma have given you the whole trust, honey," says Jonathan.
Dysabella pondered for a minute, the room was still until the girl finally responded, "Yes, I'd want to do it. For the sake of my country and everyone else, I will study. If I can't drown the land of fire, I can at least put an end to this water shortage."
Dysabella was hugged by a woman who smiled. "That answer makes me happy."
The woman took a step back and let go of her grip. "Your name is familiar to me, but it is unfamiliar to you. My name is Selena Narantama, and I'd like to welcome you. I am Binturi, from Yogo's. I'm Earth Clan, an earthbender. It's wonderful to meet you, Last Rain."
Dysabella gave her a friendly grin. "I appreciate it," she says.
Dysabella gave a kind smile. "Thank you, Selena."
"What is it for?"
"For the night," Dysabella said. "I haven't gotten a chance to thank you yet."
