I can't believe this.
Hugo, he's here. I almost didn't recognize him. His voice has significantly changed, becoming considerably deeper than the last time we've seen each other.
A loud squeal tore my throat and wrapped my hand around his neck, hugging him tight and careless about the people surrounding us. I could feel Edric's eyes gawking with utter bewilderment, but I just didn't care.
"Oh good, Lord! Hugo," I exclaimed soon as he set me down, but his hand went to my waist, holding me still as though I would disappear any moment from his sight.
"Lady Vereena, how?" Hugo brushed his gaze down on my frame, taking note of my ramshackle dress as well as my disheveled appearance. Worry gripped his face. "What happened? What are you doing here?"
