Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

So here we are, silence evading the whole room as they all stood around it and stared at me. We had needed an introduction to happen but the Northern guy and his look alike, they are twins by the way, could not agree on whom should go first. Twins, am I right?

"Ok, let the elf man start since he seems to be the oldest." I said, trying to break the ongoing stalemate. The all looked at me weirdly, like they knew something that I didn't which was obviously the case. I looked at the elf man and watched his various facial expressions as he gathered the courage to get up and introduce himself. Emma, on the hand, was busy throwing constant gazes at him but he seemed to ignore her.

"I am Alva of Nevizt. I specialize in armory and ...." he said before being interrupted by Emma.

"OMG! The crown prince of the elven world!" She shrieked. I was shocked! Emma, though childish, is the calmest person I had ever met. Either Alva has a number one fan or Emma's crushing hard. Looking at her heart shaped eyes, I'm thinking number two.

Wait, crown prince?!! He's a freaking prince? Oh, my gosh. Wow! Am I a magnet for trouble?

"Why do you look constipated?" Alva asks facing me and ignoring Emma.

"Why won't I be constipated? The crown prince of the elven kingdom is standing right in front of me acting like the world has no meaning!" I said, almost yelling.

They looked at me like they had rather be anywhere but here and then I realized a crucial piece of information that I had skipped. Why would the crown prince of the elves be here, in my room, talking to me about the weather and my health? (I am not exaggerating. We really did talk of these things. I just can't say as it is irrelevant.

Also, why would the crown prince of the elves be here and not in their goody-goody world? And why was he with a rag tag bunch? I pretty soon got my answers.

"I am Elena of Azteph!" Said the lady with a warrior's aura.

"Oh, oh, I know her. She's the warrior queen!" Exclaimed Emma with childish excitement.

"We are Reify and Rife, Twins of Rom, the Southern planes. We are jacks of all trades!" Said the twins, together, at the same time, while having mouthfuls of food. Imagine the mess!!!

They had asked Emma for some mashed potatoes and stew, a dish that's not common to us few. Imagine them spewing food out of their mouths! It went flying all over and Alva looked like he would hit the two in the head! Luckily, they had a sense of self-awareness making them watch their table manners.

"Yeah, jacks of all trades but masters of none." Said Alva and I couldn't hold back the snicker that escaped my mouth. The twins looked so shocked that their mouths were wide open and food was dribbling out of it. This killed the mood and I felt very disgusted.

"You guys should learn some manners." Said Elena with a scowl marring her pretty face.

"Please proceed." Said Alva. He is definitely their leader.

"I am Lux Gazer of Spry." Said the lady with a gentle aura. Wow, even her name sounds gentle.

"She is a fairy." Emma said with excitement as her eyes sparkled.

"Ok, um, nice intro and stuff but I need to know why you are here all ghost like?" I said really tired this time round.

I've come to realize that it's only around this group that I "come alive". They all had an energy around them that made me want to live to see tomorrow. Also, their names sound familiar. I think I've read of them somewhere.

"Well, you are a black witch." Said Alva, earning him a smack to the head. I turned to see that it was Elena who had hit him.

"Can you be a little more sensitive? She's just a little kid. You got to drop the news more lightly." She said and I got irritated. I hate being left out or do things just because of my age.

"If you don't want to say anything then please, feel free to leave. I have never been one to sit around and do nothing when I have unattended to projects." I said. Yes, I was being a little rude and stuff, but no one is allowed to look down on me.

The all kept quiet for a little before she saw Emma run up to Rife and explained what was going on. He nodded with a serious face on and turned and told the rest.

"Sorry for calling you a child. It's just happens to seem to fit." Apologized Elena. Ok now I feel bad.

"It's alright. Just treat me as an equal as I do the same." I said, smiling.

"Ok, so you are a black witch that was growing up with white witches. This is why your family is being hostile towards you." Said Alva.

"How long have they known?" I asked with my head bowed low. My chest felt stuffy and it itched, an itch I couldn't scratch. I felt my vision flicker and my focus get lost as a dark and ominously feeling enveloped me. Fighting hard to stay awake, I bit on my lip and listened.

"Not long actually." Answered Reify and I was now really confused.

"Let's put it this way..." added Lux as she waved her hands around, leaving a trail of a bright and shimmering substance floating around.

"Just like a cat can know a dog or a buck can know a doe, same with black and white witches. Without knowing their real nature, most families that have a black witch for a child start subconsciously avoiding the kid until it's proven before...." she explained.

I felt the black river surge once more and my emotions became unstable. I could hear people calling out to me, but I simply couldn't move. With the constant flashes happening before me I didn't know what was fiction or reality anymore.

I felt it calling out to more and finally I was submerged deep within it.
