"No way… who are you? What are you?" Hazel was mortified when she remembered that this strange man could read her mind. Her gray eyes widened.
"I am a lycan and you are my mate," Micah replied simply. He looked her in the eyes and could easily tell that this fact baffled her. "And I am not a dog. You can tell that I am a wolf, actually."
Hazel opened her mouth and closed it again, trying to form a question in her mind as she once again forgot that the man in front of her could easily read her mind.
Meanwhile, Micah was amused at the way her mind worked. He missed moments like this and would like to keep things this way for some time, because once Hazel learned how to mask her thoughts, she wouldn't let him listen to whatever she was thinking, unless it was to tease him.
In the end, brushing aside all the questions that bothered her as she couldn't voice them out, she chose to make a declaration. "No, dog… wolf… same thing. There is no way a human can be an animal."
"Of course, there is a way, my love, there is always a way."
Hazel bit her lips, wondering why her heart fluttered whenever Micah called her with that endearment. She liked it, but then she felt she had gone crazy to actually feel so attached to this stranger.
"That's impossible." Hazel was being stubborn now.
"You have to broaden your horizons and you will be surprised to find how we are always surrounded by so many impossible things." Micah couldn't help himself, as he leaned over to kiss her lips briefly. After all, hearing how her mind was working right now, coupled with all the thoughts about him in her mind weren't helping him either.
She was trying to determine whether to be afraid of him or not, since, strangely, she didn't feel any fear toward him and how hot she thought he was. Well, the last one kept nudging her mind most of the time because Micah stared at her intently, which she tried to brush it aside.
However, her mind froze when Micah kissed her on the lips. She blinked twice before she brought her hands to cover her mouth.
"You can't do that!" she shrieked. "You are not allowed to kiss me!"
Micah chuckled, because he knew what worried her the most was not being kissed, but because she just woke up and not yet brushed her teeth for God knew how long.
"Okay," he replied simply. "I will not kiss you until you ask me to."
Hazel frowned, as she mumbled behind her hands. "What makes you think I will ask you?"
Micah stood up from the bed and then looked at her warmly. "You can say that I know more than you can imagine about you."
That was true. Micah and Hazel had been together for seven years before that day happened, the day he lost her and all hell broke loose. And now, he would make things right with her.
The furrow between her brows deepened. "You are a creep. Are you a stalker?" Hazel couldn't remember if she ever met this man before this. She would have remembered him if she did meet him before. This man was not someone that you could forget easily.
But, she could swear that they had never met before this, especially when she knew that he was an animagus, who would forget something like that?
"I am a shifter, not an animagus," Micah corrected her thought and watched as her gray eyes became fiery, she was understandably surprised. Once again forgot about the fact that she was not safe in her own mind.
"Stop reading my mind, you pervert!" Hazel was furious. She got off the bed, but since she moved too fast she felt this rush of dizziness, which made her vision turn black for a moment.
If it was not for Micah's great reflexes, she would have bumped into something and hurt herself, but Micah caught her right in time and steadied her.
"Are you all right?" Micah tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear, which made her body jolt, then he saw Hazel close her eyes, trying to shake off her dizziness.
"Do you feel that?" Hazel lifted her head and looked at Micah with bewilderment. "It happens every time you touch me. Or did I actually turn crazy?"
Micah knew exactly what she was talking about. She was trying to understand the spark between them, every time they touched each other.
"Of course not, you are not crazy, I feel it too."
"Really? Why?"
"Because you are my mate," Micah said. He looked at his mark on her neck with satisfaction. He caressed her neck, the spot where his mark was glaring red on her pale skin. It would look better in a few days after it formed its shape.
Hazel would love to show off her mark, she would intentionally tie up her hair to display it.
"Don't touch me," Hazel said, her voice hoarse, as she gasped softly when Micah touched the mark and he knew exactly what effect it had on her. He just wanted to tease her.
"Okay." Micah stepped back and gave her some space. "I have prepared a warm bath for you and you need to take it now before it becomes cold."
"Why should I need to follow your instructions?" Hazel crossed her arms in front of her chest, looked at Micah, while pouting her lips, displeased.
"Because today you have to attend the hearing of your grandfather's will." Micah remembered this day.
"How do you know?" Hazel immediately checked her phone and looked at the date and time. He was right. Today was the day.
And before she could hear his answer, she had rushed toward the bathroom.
However, Micah counted to ten before Hazel appeared again, she was furious. She stomped her feet. "You left a kiss mark on my neck!"
"That's a love mark, my love, a different thing," Micah corrected her.
