Chapter 5 - The Phantom's Despair

The violet hair girl stood at 160 cm and wore skimpy light armor, which made it easier for one to maneuver efficiently.

She reminds me of an assassin class avatar from an MMORPG with armor that leaves little to the imagination, I wonder if she has the high agility like the assassin class if so this could be tricky. Aran pondered

"Leon drop back and support me from a far distance I will get in close," Aran ordered.

Ever since the fight with the Goblins Aran's stats had risen tremendously due to the Hero effect which gave him confidence, he also asked captain Colet for some martial arts and weapons training so he could be more useful.

Special Hero skill: Clear Plan

Thanks to the Enhance skill I should be able to go toe to toe with even a seasoned soldier, just must finish it within the time limit.

Aran unsheathes his blade reflecting a sky-blue color as it shone from the afternoon sun.

Arrows flew toward the girl as she elegantly dances around them, in quick time Aran attacks from her blind spot but she parries his attack, and the cracking of roof tiles rang through the air.

"Just what I expected your awareness of the environment is top-notch, why don't you join the kingdom's army you would be pardoned from attacking the princess." Aran offer in a witty tone stepping back.

There was no answer but a cruel stare with a sly grin on her face.

"It is no use Aran she is under a dominion contract; you can tell from a mark just below her chest," Leon explains.

Aran and the mysterious girl clash blades as sparks flew, reluctantly for 3 minutes with no break in sight.

I have about two minutes of Enhance mode left, I have to find a way to finish this quick.

"Hey, Leon quick how could someone be able to break the dominion contract?"

"The only way is to have the contractor release her or use a valuable void ceremony on the crest mark which the royal family should own."

"If so let's use move 3," Aran instructs as Leon shakes his head in agreement.

Sync and Eagle Vision combo!!

Aran shares his wide vision as he charges the violet hair girl from the right as Leon fire four arrows horizontally on her left leaving little room for her to dodge, but she does so with precision.

"Chain bind!!"

The moment her feet gently touch the ground chains sprout from the ground as they constrict her movements.

"This bind will be strong enough to last until we reach back to the castle it's a move I am immensely proud of." Leon grinned

"This is one of the reasons I recruit you to join the special unit I am forming, I will go, make sure Princess Mira is fine."

In the ally way under Aran and Leon's feet, two men in cloaks loiter.

"Should we go after them, sir?"

"No, she has already served her purpose for us, what could they do with a girl trapped in such despair, Let's return there are some merchandises that need to be sold."

Aran walk around the commoner's area before stumbling upon an orphanage where a familiar little boy was sitting on the front stairs.

"Excuse me you're the boy from earlier right, if so, do you know where Princess Mira is?"

The boy's eyes were puffy and red as his lips quivered slowly, allowing words to proceed from his mouth.

"She is inside surrounded by 5 shady men." he groaned.

Aran's heart skip a beat at the sound of his word, rushing into the orphanage in a panic state startling all those present in the main hall.

"What!!"

The Mira stood over the 5 men who are unconscious as she held a confident smile while cracking her knuckles as if she has finish a hard day of work.

"Why do you look so worried about, didn't I say I can handle myself."

"Yes, but wow are you sure you did not kill them."

"I think so, they came in here demanding I come with them if not they would burn down this orphanage and that pissed me off." Mira asserted as she scowls at the men.

I better make sure I don't tick her off to the point she gets violent, but to overpower these men who are built sturdily is something else.

The children gather around Mira as she comforts them.

"It's time we get going Princess Mira before Elliot starts worrying about us, and reporting what happened to him" Aran urged.

"Okay, bye everyone, take care."

The duo exited the orphanage, as they walk along the princess's limping became more apparent.

"You can lean on me for the rest of the way," Aran suggest as he stopped in his tracks.

"What are you saying I don't need you to support me, I am strong enough to walk the rest."

"If you don't accept I will feel bad for leaving you on your own, so please let me do this for you."

Mira with a flustered expression reluctantly accepts Aran's support.

Why do feel something like this has happened before no it never could have. Mira debated in her mind.

"Thanks for showing me around the city today, Princess Mira."

"You can drop the princess and call me Mira, it has started to become a little stifling, plus I didn't get to show you everything."

"Maybe another time you could show me everything."

Little did Aran know that time would have to wait as the following days would bring him closer to striving for his wish.

"Is the ceremony finished yet Elliot?" Aran asks as he eagerly awaits the interrogation.

"Yes, it just concluded we can go ahead and start the interrogation."

The girl sat with her hands bound behind a chair while Aran and Elliot take their seats on the opposite side of the table.

"Why am I here, what are you going to do to me." The girl trembled as her eyes resembled one of prey that has been caught by their predator.

Her demeanor is completely different from when she was under contract.

"We are not here to hurt you we just want to ask you some questions, you know what..."

Aran moved around and untied the girls' binds from the chair, as he called for something for her to drink as they ask her questions which she happily answered for the next hours.

Her name is Lyne, she was sold at birth to a slave company due to poverty which forced her into a dominion contract and ruthlessly trained her to become an assassin to kill those who went against her master, but when I asked her who her master was, she just started to sob intensely what kind of monster are they.

"What is with the intense stare Aran sir is the meal not to your liking." A blue hair boy dressed in a butler outfit inquires.

"No, it's not that, hey George is slavery a big operation in this world?"

"It is sir, with many groups around the city using this trade to make money, satisfy lust, or train killer the slaves stay in the poorest of environments while the traders live a lavish life."

I can't imagine being in that situation, the despair Lyne must be feeling is unimaginable, and she might not be able to overcome the mental and physical trauma, but if she can overcome it she could be a force to be reckoned with.

(Ailatha Kingdom- dragonkin territory)

"How are you this strong, you human's won't get away with this." A man with wings on his back and a spear pointed at his opponent.

"This is the absolute power of the empire all will bow before it, haahaa!!" Xander dictated as he menacingly suppress his opponent.

"Sarra, you must go and Deliver this letter quickly to The princess in Meedale city in haste."

"Understood father." The girl replied.
