Chapter 22 - The God and The Second Son

"You know...you could be a little more kind to the lady. In the back of your head, you know for a fact she has your best interest in mind." Sylphs remarks, gazing at Double with an indifferent, bored expression.

Double looks up at Sylphs, his face showing nothing but frustration.

"I owe nothing to her, all she's done is cause us problems. Even you have to recognize that without her Kazu wouldn't have got hurt." Double states, a grave expression etched across his face.

"Are you really going to blame her...for things she can't control? What's happened to you Double? You are the same one that continuously preaches about changing the world, and bringing everyone together. Right now...you are pushing someone in need away." Sylphs asserts, wearing an irritated expression on his face.

Double's expression twisted into one of smoldering anger, his eyes ablaze with intensity. Across from him, Sylph maintained an unwavering gaze

"In need?! Are you serious? How the hell is she the one in need? She made it out of there just fine. If anything...we are the ones who are struggling now, and were in this bad predicament because of her!" Double yells, a furious look now written across his face.

"You still aren't even listening...this woman has lost her father, and she lost pretty much everything that she has. Does she even have anyone else to go too? Is her father all she knows? We know nothing about her, except for the fact she is someone dealing with loss." Sylphs declares, his expression growing even more serious as he addresses Double.

Sylphs response had an effect on Double, causing a rush of memories to flood his mind. Amidst the cascade of emotions, vivid recollections of his past emerged.

"The fact you could stand in front of me...and ridicule that woman...when you can't even fathom what she's going through mentally right now. I have nothing more to say to you." Sylphs declares, purposely avoiding looking in the direction of Double.

Sylphs ethereal form began a gradual retreat into the confines of his orb, Double remains immobilized, a statue amidst the moment. His lips part, yet no words escape

'Sylphs...I'm sorry.' Double thinks to himself, not being able to voice it with words.

As Double reaches his hand out, he opens his eyes and wakes up from his sleep. He wipes his eyes, noticing a tear drop that had formed.

'Sylphs...I completely forgot, you were only formed after I had lost my brother. You don't know that I too understand what it means to lose.' Double thinks to himself, balling his fist in frustration.

Double stands up out of his bed, and begins to walk towards the bookshelf next to him. The small room given to him by Seikatsu was small, and he didn't have room to do much.

"I guess it would be nice to read, but what could these books even contain? Who would have the time to write something like this?" Double inquires with a curious expression.

Double grabs the first book on the bookshelf, and he begins to open it. He begins to read, and as he reads it, he notices something within the pages.

'The man who had longed for freedom clinches his sword. He leaves everything behind, and claims himself as a god in front of the second son.' Double reads in his mind, confused on what he had seen.

As Double reads this, he begins to think back.

"When Seikatsu called Joki the god of technicality, Joki's response gave off a feeling of uncomfort. This book...wait is the god they are talking about related to..." Double whispers to himself, his voice trembling with emotion.

Just before Double can finish reading, he hears a knock on his door, which catches him off guard. He goes to open the door, and notices that Reima is standing in front of it.

"Reima? What are you doing here so late?" Double asks, his eyes widen at the sight of her.

"I wanted to apologize...I was wrong to approach you the way I did. That's all I came to say, I will leave now." Reima remarks, quickly attemping to turn away.

"Wait!" Double hollers with a composed demeanor.

Reima stops, and turns around to Double, who had a smile on his face.

"You can come in...I don't mind it at all. We should talk at least anyways." Double states, not making eye contact with Reima.

Reima has an astounded look on her face, but proceeds to slowly walk in anyways.

They both took a seat, and as Reima glanced around, her eyes caught the sight of a book resting on the table. It was opened with a stick serving as an improvised bookmark, holding a place within its pages.

"You never really took me as the reading kind." Reima says, laughing under her breath.

"Oh that, yeah...It does get kinda boring in here when you're sleep deprived." Double remarks, his eyes fixed on the book before him.

Reima looks over at Double, and as he says that. She notices the red in his eyes.

"Why haven't you been getting any sleep, if you mind me asking? There's a lot that we have to do...so it's best not to be exhausted." Reima utters, a concerned expression etched across her face.

"Oh no, it's fine. I've always been like this. It's hard for me to get much sleep, because my thoughts are constantly racing. Reima...you don't have to apologize as well, you did nothing wrong." Double states, a nervous look on his face.

Reima gazes at Double, her face a canvas of astonishment.

"No I did...It's wrong of me to try to act like I'm even apart of anything. I just wanted to help the best I could because of what I caused, but I did too much." Reima says, her voice trembling with hesitation.

"What you did was right...it's just that I'm losing myself." Double utters, sadness being heard in his voice.

Reima hears this, and looks down with a sad expression on her face. She reaches into her pocket, and pulls out some sort of necklace.

"Here...I didn't think I would have any kind of use of it, especially since I never really had anyone to give it too." Reima says, reaching her hand out to Double.

The necklace reads Helios, and as she hands it to Double. A smile begins to form on his face.

"Helios...it's kinda hard to see the writing with how small the necklace is, but thank you Reima." Double says, his voice now sounding like a excited kid.

Double's words and his smile make Reima smile herself. She begins to walk towards the door as she yawns out loud.

"Oh yeah...it is getting kind of late, isn't it?" Double remarks, looking at the clock in the room he was given.

"Yeah, I'm glad we were able to finally have a conversation Double. Thank you for letting me in." Reima says, smiling cheek to cheek.

Before Reima can leave, Double gets up and quickly grabs her shoulder.

"Reima...we are friends." Double states, his face wearing a grave and meaningful expression, but a smile nonetheless.

Reima smiles, and a tear drops from her eyes. She closes the door gently. Double's expression changes from a smile to a slightly serious expression.

"Now...just who the hell is the second son?" Double questions, continuing to look through the books he saw.

(The Next Day)

"Welcome to our training grounds everybody!" Seikatsu yells, a excited look on his face.

Double, Reima, Kazu, and Joki had been standing in front of six men who had all given off an intimidating feel about them.

In front of those men had been Seikatsu, who had been standing in front of the men with a smile on his face.

"Nestled in seclusion and veiled from prying eyes, this is a hidden training grounds area that exists as a sanctuary for those who seek to hone their skills beyond conventional boundaries. While usually it's used for training the Migaka...you four could use some training as well." Seikatsu observes, an intrigued expression etched on his face.

"Sir...shall we introduce ourselves to the newcomers?"

Seikatsu turns around, and looks at the man with long black hair, a very skinny physique, and a plain white shirt.

"Yes Messorem, you should introduce yourself first. You are my right hand after all." Seikatsu says, waving his hand signaling Messorem to come forward.

Messorem proceeds to walk forward, and with each step he takes, a feel of sorrow starts to pour down on the four of them.

"My name is Messorem, I am the first Migaka, and right hand to Seikatsu...I would like to know the names of all of you as well." Messorem utters slowly, his voice ever so soft.

With determined strides, Double moved forward, each step purposeful and resolute. He extended his hand, palm open, toward Messorem. Joki, Reima, and Kazu stood frozen, their expressions a mix of shock and awe.

Kazu looks toward Double, and notices a necklace that he had now been wearing.

"Hello! My name is Double. It's nice to meet someone like you. The aura...no the Reiki that you give off...it gives me a sorrow feeling, but when I look at you, I don't see anything that makes me sad." Double states, keeping his same smile on his face.

Messorem's eyes widen in astonishment, he looks up at Double, and a smile forms on his face as he shakes Double's hand.

The rest of the Migaka walk forward, Double still holding Messorem's hand is now up close with the rest of the Migaka.

The second Migaka, Ishona. A buff man with an afro who wears a headband with Mongkol written on it. Prajioud armbands that carry a lot of weight behind them, and plain black shorts. He is a master of Muay Boran, a fighting style that was passed down through his family.

Third Migaka, Ardor. A short man with a masked cowl that allows him to enhance his visibility manipulation and provides vital information about his surroundings. Gloved gauntlets, and streamlined leggings with hushed footwear.

Fourth Migaka, Vanus. A man with a lean physique who wears a tailored, flowing coat made from a shifting material that changes color and pattern depicted from the emotion he gives off. He is a mysterious and cunning man gifted with the extraordinary power to set traps that transport unsuspecting victims into his alternate dimension.

Fifth Migaka, Seraph. A woman who wears a fitted, matte black leather bodysuit that molds perfectly to her form, and allows her unrestricted movement in combat. Over the bodysuit, she wears a flowing midnight blue cloak that billows dramatically as she moves. She has the power of teleportation, and can teleport at will depending on her stamina.

Sixth Migaka, Mofina. A woman who walks through life with a heart shrouded in secrecy, her emotions, as vivid as the moon's phases, are hidden inside as she fears showing them. She fears the world's misconceptions would eclipse her true essence. She is able to illuminate others with the power of the moon, and more abilities she has not unlocked yet.

As they all stand next to Messorem, looking into the eyes of a fearless Double. Double slowly lets go of his hand, and smiles at each one of them.

"So...the intense Reiki I sense coming from all of you, and the intense stare you are all giving me. I'm gonna assume that means you want to fight." Double declares, confidently wearing a cocky smile on his face.

As Double finishes his words, Reima begins to slowly walk forward in an attempt to stop Double from picking a fight.

Suddenly, Seraph proceeds to teleport and put her foot on top of Reima, putting her on the ground as she screams out in pain.

"Who is this we have here...a lady who cares about her appearance and moves gently." Seraph murmurs, a serious expression gracing her face.

Before Seraph can move, Double appears next to her faster than she can perceive and takes the sword out of her hand.

Seraph's initially cocky smile turned into an expression of profound surprise. With a quick change of demeanor, Double seizes the sword, his movements almost instinctive, and hurled it across the space to the waiting group. Ishona catches the airborne sword and gently places it on the ground.

"If you value your life...I would recommend taking your foot off of her quickly." Double declares, his face wearing a combination of seriousness and fury.

"Well...I guess you aren't weak after all. You are way faster than I thought boy." Seraph says, laughing in the face of Double.

After removing her foot from Reima, Double quickly lifts her up, carefully carrying her towards a secluded spot. Gently, Double settles her down, providing a supportive space for her to recuperate and regain her strength.

Meanwhile, Kazu walks up to the lady. She notices Kazu, and proceeds to walk towards him, looking him in the eye.

"So...you possess the ability of teleportation. We should spar sometime, and you can show me how you handle your ability. I assume if you are among them...someone like you can't be weak right." Kazu states, attempting to mock Seraph.

"If you came to that conclusion quickly, you've got a keen eye. What are all of your names?! Present yourself respectfully among us." Seraph exclaims loudly, attempting to capture the attention of everyone present.

Kazu gives Seraph a look of frustration due to her bossy attitude, but before he can speak. Joki quickly jumps in the way, and looks at seraph.

"My name is Joki, his name is Kazu Michikazu, the ballsy kid over there is named Double, and the girl you so rudely stepped on is Reima." Joki says looking at Seraph, unphased by the bossy persona she puts on.
