Steele walked through the mayhem. Oblivious to the massacre, to the screaming and the blood. His focus solely on the unconcious girl before him. He knelt down and gathered her in his arms. He could feel her heart beating softly, and his slowed to match. Her breathing was shallow and slow, she needed medical attention. He stood and studied her body, and her face, memorizing every feature, lost in the magic of the growing mate bond. "would she feel it too?" he thought.
"Steele!" Kamerons voice broke through the trance.
"We should leave now, more people might be coming, we have to leave."
"burn it." Steele whispered his eyes not leaving his mates face.
"What?" Kameron asked shocked.
"We can leave no trace, no clue that there are other werewolves. Burn it all."
The Warriors carried the haybales decorating the outer ring of the arena. They broke up the bundles and spread them around the tent, covering the bodies of the now dead Ringmaster and his men. "Grab the tiki torches from outside." Kameron ordered one of the warriors.
"No need." One offered as he pulled a couple lighters out of his pocket. "I figured we'd need these." He passed them around, each warrior went to a different spot and lit a few different fires. Before long the dry Hay fed the flames into a massive blaze, devouring everything in its path. On their way out they lit the main tent itself, and ran towards the woods. In no time at all they reached their hidden cars. Kameron unlocked his car and opened the back door for Steele to slide in with his mate resting her head in his lap. "Get us home kam." he said, brushing the girls hair from her face.
Kameron closed the door and got into the drivers seat, started his engine and roared onto the dirt road leading to their home.

"beep....beep....beep.....beep"
she woke slowly, fighting the fog that was drowning her brain. She'd never had this much trouble waking up. something was wrong..
"beep.....beep....beep....beep"
"What the hell is that beeping?" she thought. A gentle pressure on her arm caughter her off guard, she could hear distant voices, feel the presence of other people. "where am I?" She struggled to open her eyelids, but they were just so heavy. "Am I dead? Did they finally kill me?" her thoughts were scattered, as she struggled to gain consciousness. She tried to take a deep breath, and realized there was something on her face. Something pressing into the bridge of her nose, she took another deep breath to try to smell anything, but all she got was clean air. "odd." she thought. usually the air around her wreaked of dirt, and sweat. she focused on the voices she could hear in the distance.
"She's completely stable Alpha." A voice said. "We can take her off the oxygen and wake her up if you'd like."
"No." A deeply masculine voice said. "She's been through hell. Let her rest."
"Of course Alpha. we'll just let the medication wear off naturally. It could take a few hours."
" I dont care if it takes days." there was that voice again. something about that voice calmed her. Made her feel safe. Something that she hadnt felt in a VERY long time. "Let her rest. She's home."
"Home." She thought as a feeling of warmth washed over her, and she let herself drift into blessed darkness.

The Doctor looked Steele up and down, "Do you need something to help you sleep? Alpha, you look like you havent slept in days." Steele shook his head. "No. I have much to do. I want to know the second she wakes." the Doctor nodded, "Of course Alpha. I am so happy you have found our Luna, even under such horrible circumstances. We'll need to introduce her to Dr. Bentz. she'll need someone to talk to. To help her through the trauma she has suffered." Steele considered it for a few minutes them shook his head. "No. Considering what she's been through she might find it hard to trust another man. His daughter, Becca, isnt she studying to take over his practice?" The Doc nodded. "Good thinking Alpha. Yes, Becca is in her final year of training. From my understanding she is just as talented as her Father."
Steele nodded his approval. "We'll let her decide when she wakes. Contact me first, have Becca and her father on standby." Steel looked down at his feet, dreading leaving his mate, but knowing she was well protected. "I have to prepare for the council. when last nights events hit the news they'll want an explanation." The two men shook hands and Steele walked out, feeling like he was leaving a piece of himself behind. He had a feeling she wasnt old enough for the mate bond to take hold yet. He had to either avoid her, or be very careful around her, the last thing he wanted to do was scare her off. She's been through so much. She needed time, and patience, and small steps. First she needs to be in a good place, physically she is there, mentally, theres work to do.
Steele turned and looked at the small building that served as the packs hospital. the outside didnt look like much but they spared no expense making sure the building was stocked with the best, and most up to date medical supplies and equipment. "She's in good hands." he thought as he turned and walked to his car. Kameron and the commanders of the warrior ranks would already be in the pack hall. "Theres much to do."
