Chereads / Lola: Lady Of Sorrow / Chapter 10 - Run

Chapter 10 - Run

Regina held my hand tightly as she pulled me towards the kitchen. She kicked the door open, pulling me to the storeroom.

"Regina! Regina, please!" I cried struggling to pull myself free.

"Aunty, please!".

She pushed open the store door. She stopped, shooting her palm across my face. I screamed holding my reddened cheek.

"Shut up! Shut up!"

I pinched my lips with my fingers, swallowing in my cry. "Now listen here and listen good, no matter what my sister, Dianne told you, I am not your aunt, do you understand me?" She pointed at me.

I stared at her as endless rolls of tears ran out of my eyes. "Do you understand!!?" She shouted. I nodded quickly.

She dropped my hand. I placed both palms over my mouth holding in my cries. She walked to the shelf, pulling down a heavy barrel.

"Come", she ordered, slowly turning the cover. I gulped, taking slow steps towards her. She pulled off the cover, revealing the content inside. I stood next to the barrel and looked down at the vegetable oil in it.

In a blink of an eye, I felt my head being pushed down into the barrel. I couldn't breathe. I shot my hands in the air, struggling to push myself up. She tightened her grip on my head, pushing my head deeper and deeper, with the oil above my neck.

She pulled up my head. I gasped for air.

"You", she slammed my head back into the oil. I began again to struggle.

She pulled me out again, "Killed..." Again my head went in. While struggling, I tried to push up my head, hearing her scream, "...My sister!"

I tried to escape her grip, gobbling in a mouth full of oil. She pulled me out again. I coughed, struggling to balance my breath.

"You deserve everything for what you did to her!"

With my eyes pinched shut and my hands over her wrist, trying to pull myself away I cried out, "Please! I'm sorry--" I wheezed.

Again she dug my head back into the oil. She held my head with her two hands this time, pushing my head back and forth. It became harder to hold my breath, as the oil kept jabbing its way through my nostrils and down my windpipe.

I kicked my legs violently in the air, pinching her skin as I screamed in the oil, feeling my heart pound through my chest.

I couldn't hold my breath any longer, I needed to breathe, I needed just a second of gasp—I could feel my body choking on oil.

With the little strength in me, I kept kicking, struggling to push myself up, she just kept pushing me deeper. I screamed.

She suddenly released my head. I felt her hands brush over my neck and fall to the side. I shot my head up, falling to the floor coughing and gasping.

"Lola!!!" I heard numerous voices. I rubbed my palms over my eyes, coughing while trying to wipe my face. I immediately caught of glimpse of all my sisters kneeling around me.

I shot my hands in the air still coughing, finding it hard to breathe in. Anna and Beatrice patted my chest hard as I gasped. I immediately barfed on the spot, taking in a deep breath.

"Lola? Lola?" They all patted and stroked me as I rose my head up weakly. I turned, seeing Dianne right next to Sister Regina who was laying on the floor. I instantly knew what happened, seeing Dianne had a cooking pot in her hand, while Regina rubbed the back of her head, groaning, struggling to get up.

Dianne turned to me, throwing down the pot. "Quickly!" She ran to me, forcefully pulling my arm as I still battled to breathe. The others grabbed my other arm. They dragged my body roughly on the floor through the store door.

I shut my eyes still coughing and choking. I blinked my eyes repeatedly, trying to push out the dripping oil from my hair. I noticed a hand push out through the door.

"Uuughhhhh!" Regina grumbled, pushing herself up into the kitchen. We were already in the hallway, but I could see Regina drag herself to the door, looking anything but pleased.

"LOLA!!!"

She screamed as we got to the staircase. They stopped, pulling me up on my feet. I kept my eyes fixed on Regina. "Sorry, Lola!"

"Get up, let's go!"

They dusted my body roughly. I stared at Regina, who pulled out a knife from the counter next to the door. They tried to pull me but I didn't move, "Lola let's go!"They cried.

"LOLA!!!" She screamed like a madwoman charging at us.

"Lola now!!!" Dianne lifted me, running down the stairs. The flashlight in Grace's and Anna's hands shook rapidly as we ran downstairs, making Regina look diabolical and horrifying as she chased us.

As we reach the last staircase, Regina slipped, landing on her face.

The girls began screaming, as we made our way to the playroom floor, which leads to the front door. Dianne dropped me quickly but gently, grabbing my hand forcefully.

"Run!" She shouted.

I could hear Regina's feet run down the stairs, almost behind us. We hurried to the main door.

Kate threw herself to the door. "It's locked!" She screamed.

Our eyes broadened staring at ourselves and then behind Regina. Dianne immediately shot her eyes around panting. "What do we do!!?" Grace cried.

Dianne dropped my hand, running to the teapot table. With all lights shot at her. She picked up one of the chairs, taking a few steps back.

She darted forward, lifting the chair above her head, shooting it straight through the glass window next to the door.

Pieces of glass poured loudly on the floor. She ran to the window, picking up a toy hammer to hit out the remaining glass pieces stuck on the frame.

"Go!!!" She screamed. The other girls ran to the window first, jumping out.

They screamed, running in different directions. Beatrice, Anna, Kate, and Grace pulled me to the window.

Beatrice and Anna jumped out, waiting for me on the other side. Anna and Kate helped me up.

They pushed me through, letting me land on Beatrice. "Quickly!" Dianne shouted. Kate jumped out, leaving just Grace on the frame.

Grace turned around as Dianne helped her, "Why isn't she here yet?"

"Grace!!!" We shouted pissed at her question. Dianne pushed her out angrily. "AHHH!!!" We screamed out of shock as Regina slammed herself at Dianne.

"Dianne!!" I cried. Regina stood up, turning to me. "Hey, Lola dear", she smiles manically, placing her hand on her window frame and pushing her head out.

We step back staring at her shaking, the flashlights slipped out of Grace's and Anna's hands.

"Lola!" I heard Dianne's voice echo from behind. She jumped on Regina's head, digging her hands into her eyes.

"Lola!! Run!!" She screamed as Regina struggled, falling herself down. My eyes widened. "Lola! Let's go!" Anna grabbed my hand pulling me back.

"Lola now!!! Let's go", they all held me pulling me back. I kept my head faced back as they pulled me forward, seeing Regina toss and kick Dianna on the floor. She stomped on her angrily. I shut my eyes turning away.

We ran through the small garden of the church, rushing through the open gate. Without turning around, we kept running through the light forest outside the fence.

I trip a few feet away, making the other lose their grip on me. I jumped off, racing on my heels. I continued to hear steps behind us, feeling something trying to grab me.

I shut my eyes, running without caring to turn back, nor to the girls around me.

"Lola!" I heard their voices echo. Full of fear, anxiety, worry, and adrenaline, I kept running in pure darkness, just hoping to wake up from the nightmare I was in.

"Lola?" Their cry got lighter and fainter. I didn't know where I was going, nor where I was, but all I knew was that I was running, and I couldn't risk stopping with little Strength in me.

"...Lola?" I thought I heard a whisper. I felt a sharp sudden knock on my forehead.

Everything went blank.
