...(time: Somewhere in the prehistorical era )...
"How did that page end up in Cleopatra's hands again?!" Yurei being constantly frustrated and asking questions, was beginning to weight heavy on Ned's patience as well, "I don't know, but it's a good thing we snatched it...unseen." Ned replied, the other thing bothering the ex-doctor other than Yurei, was wearing disguises.
In order to fit in with most cultures they were exploring, both Ned and Yurei had to wear outfits that would coresponde to that area and part of history, like the kilts they had to wear, Or at least wear something that wouldn't draw unnecessary attention to them.
Ned who usually wore only plain clothes, Always dark and bigger than his original size, felt so uncomfortable being out in the sun with nothing but a white skirt on, he and Yurei were bare chested against the sunlight when both of them are fair skinned, and as a doctor it didn't seem like a good idea for him.
"So Cleopatra had a relationship with this guy Caeser...well that explains something! remember what we heard her say that one time!" Yurei spoke smirking a little.
"Yurei, are you done fanboying about their Romance? it's going to be a tragic story I can tell just by having you talk about it." Ned replied.
"Hey! do you mean to say I bring bad luck to others?!"
"I'm saying that if we found a page here that means bad things are Bound to happen, it's history we're speaking of! but you do sure bring bad luck to me, Yurei."
"You're so mean Ned!"
"Yeah yeah, let's focus now...ugh! how long are we going to keep going?"
"A long way from here apparently...Oh I miss my Taci so much!" Yurei whined, "I miss my babies too so shut up and focus!" Ned replied fighting the urge to kick Yurei for the thousand time.
Jihi made Ned leave his newborns behind with Tacito in the future, and Yurei couldn't stop reminding him of the fact they're separated every few seconds.
"But you know how hard it is to be separated from your mate! and we're not just apart, We're far from each other through both time and place!... oh I feel like my heart is going to explode!" Yurei whined again, but secretly within he was actually flying in joy, remembering that Tacito is his mate.
Before they embarked on their book mission, Tacito surprised Yurei with a goodbye hug, Yurei didn't expect Tacito to even come see him before he leaves let alone physically touch him, but it was all thanks to Ned who managed to convince Tacito to forgive Yurei in the end.
Only one issue occurred, the next day when he was already on his Mission, Yurei started experiencing a nagging feeling in his chest that soon over the days blossomed into a constant stinging pain in his heart.
Ned who happened to discover Yurei's mating mark after checking on him to see what's wrong, was surprised how far Yurei was able to hold on in their mission without Tacito by his side.
The two were unable to stop their mission or go back before it's done, so Yurei had to endure this separation for as long as it takes.
But thankfully for him, being a demi immortal slowed the agonizing process of his torture and made it possible for him to work.
...(time: somewhere in the dark ages)...
"Remind me again about the whole bad luck thing Ned?"
"That you bring bad luck whenever you're excited about something...honestly this whole time period is bad luck, it's not about you Yurei."
"Okay...so shall we teleport from here Doc? we should've been on our way a long time ago, if you didn't decide to save that teenage omega boy." Yurei asked, he and Ned just saved a helpless boy who was being cornered by a group of perverted men.
"And let him get assaulted? if two men were having a consensual loving relationship, they'd burned by the stake, but pedophilia and other sexual offenses are allowed?!" Ned answered him angrily.
"Yeah you're right...I never said this before because I was afraid my opinion might offend you, but you often mentioned how bad omega had it even in our world...the thought of it spooks me."
"You have no any idea how life is terrible for an omega literally anywhere, it's the same kind of terrible as the women's life in this world...everyone thinks we're below them just because of our biology, seen as nothing but an object of desire and baby making." Ned replied pinching his nose in anger, when jihi warned him about how inhumane the people in the normal world could get, he Hoped that was a bad joke.
Since almost everyone in the normal world is Like a beta human who has nothing to do with anything supernatural, Ned found a little solace in knowing that there's actually other people like him in this world.
Alphas and omegas, Mages and witches that possess and use magic, or supernatural beings like vampires and werewolves.
Although these people like Ned, are in the minority of the minorities and live mostly in secrecy, hiding their real identities and their abnormal part of their lives, for their own safety.
Because the greedy normal humans that becomes aware of them, pose a huge threat to these supernatural creatures, They go as far as hunting the supernatural for sport, killing them, using them and then picturing them as real monsters.
"So what you saved him this time? but who's going to come for him the next time...we can't help everyone Ned, this isn't our world anymore!" Yurei said.
"But we can still try, our world wasn't perfect either, but sure as fuck it was better than this hell hole." Ned replied.
...(time: somewhere in the Early Modern Era)...
"Ming dynasty...why did the late bookkeeper come here?" Ned asked himself loudly enough for the equally curious guy next to him to hear, " I don't know for sure, we still need to find what village the bookkeeper lived in during this period...I have a feeling that we would be traveling in Asia for quite the while." Yurei replied smiling as he walked side by side with an unamused Ned.
"Look at you all excited and comfortable in your disguise, while I have to walk around wearing women garments!! why do I have to dress as a Chinese woman?!" Ned nearly shouted.
"Your physical features match, you're the smaller one in the both of us, also it's more convenient to dress up this way since we're pretending to be a traveling couple." Yurei replied.
"Is it my fault that I'm small now?! your beloved Taci is taller than the both of us so how does that make you feel huh! and EWW! wipe that ugly smile off your fucking face I'm not Taci to stare at me this way!"
"Of course you're not my sweet beautiful Taci!... you're not up to his level Ned hehe!"
" YOU LITTLE SHIT!"
"Careful fake wifey! you have to maintain am image in this place." Yurei replied snickering at the distressed Ned.
"The only thing I'm grateful for about having you around me Yurei, is the fact that you don't get affected by my heat."
"See I'm not such a nuisance after all? what would you have done without this humble beta man's assistant." Yurei spoke winking at him.
"You being a beta is possibly the only good Quality about you."
"OUCH! don't be so mean!....hehehe you're always like that it's funny. " Yurei found himself snickering again.
"What's so funny you little shit?!" Ned asked Yurei, barely holding back from slapping the back of Yurei's head.
"Nothing...you reminded of me that time when you were giving birth, before our mission."
... [tiny flashback]....
" You're doing great four eyes! just few More!" Shadow spoke encouraging
Ned as he pushed for what it felt like the thousand time.
Shadow was forced by Jihi to help Ned since she used to be a midwife before her current job And everyone else capable other than her, was highly intimidated by the doctor to actually help him.
Good thing he wasn't having twins right?...oh wait! he was actually.
" AHH FUCK THIS! ugh I should've...ugh...MOM I HATEUUUU!"
"Umm hang in there I guess? you can do it!...eh?! who am I kidding, I'm bad at being nice, just like you." Shadow spoke again.
"SHUT UP YOU'RE NOT EVEN HELPING! Are YOU REALLY A MIDWIFE?!" Ned screamed, Even though he was a doctor, he couldn't act like one in this situation.
Yurei stood horrified outside of the room with Tacito next to him, the beta was jumping at every sound of screaming and cursing Ned let out.
" I have never been in my life more grateful for something, as I am grateful for not being an Omega." Yurei spoke up.
The heterochromic eyes man quickly regretted his words, when he felt Tacito who was also an omega was glaring furiously at him for his comment, " Oh sorry I didn't mean to insult anyone! Taci come back I swear I didn't mean to insult you!" Yurei added following Tacito who stormed away from him fuming.
...[tiny flashback ends]...
"So my trauma is funny now?!" Ned spoke bringing Yurei back to reality, he began chasing the Yurei around aiming to hit him.
And while he ran for his life "AYE AYE stop! seriously I didn't mean to insult you!" Yurei pleaded before he got hit by a shoe to the face.
...(Time: somewhere in the Early Modern Era, again.)...
An enthusiastic Yurei danced around the ship, tapping his feet here and there, "WOAH! AWESOME!! This ship and these pirate outfits are the best!"
"Stop making so much noise so early in the morning! the only thing awesome about this, is that we got a chance to meet those two female pirates, since it seems like most work domains around here are male dominant.
Can you believe it, even crime?!" Ned protested while folding his arms, thought the unfortunate patriarchy in the sea wasn't his problem, The motion sickness was what Ned dreaded the most about being in the sea.
"Do you need to over analyze everything? let's have some fun while we can WOOHOO!" Yurei cheered loudly as he finally stood in one place, he got suddenly enchanted by the colors in the sky.
"Ugh what fun are we going to have here?!...are you sure you're even missing your mate? you look overly happy to me Yurei."
"Maybe I'm happy because our mission is close to an end." Yurei said.
The ex-doctor rolled his eyes, "What close to an End? we still have a long way to go, Though we did come a long way too, so technically we're closer to the end.
Hey, how many years has it been till now? how much time do you think we spent so far?" Ned asked curiously.
"Idk, I'm not keeping count of anything else anymore." Yurei replied admiring the view of the sun rising slowly, despite seeing it hundreds of time, he still enjoyed it.
"You really like traveling...anyways, we're sailing very soon so be ready for a long journey, Apparently england is a favorite spot for the late bookkeeper." Ned spoke while checking the guide Jihi gave him to help locating where the pages might be.
"Do what you have to do, I'll stay here for a little while longer." Yurei replied and Ned nodded.
Soon, Ned was walking away from the chestnut haired young man, as he went to greet the ship's captain who has finally came back on board.
Yurei remained behind, calmly watching the sunrise, " I wish Tacito can see all of this with me." he whispered into thin air, before sighing.
