Chapter 1 - Prologue - Dear Diary: 5.6.2022

Friday. 10:00 p.m.

Today started as it normally has.

At 5:50 am, I got up and started to get my little siblings ready for school. They had to leave at 6:30. But, it is quite hard to get three younger siblings ready. They take quite a while to actually wake up and get ready. Even so, I tried my best as usual.

Afterwards, I went back to bed.

I was so tired from staying awake till 2 in the morning. It so hard living in this life. My home situations isn't going so great. But, what can I say? It's always been like this. In all the years I've lived, I feel like there's never been a day where I get to live like a normal teenager.

My parents have high standards. Me and each single one of my siblings have to reach those standards. As the third eldest daughter in the family, I also have a responsibility. I am barely making it through this family as I please both of them. However, my two elder sisters lost trust from my parents.

The eldest sister had dated in secret and was forced to breakup. However, later on, a guy came and asked for her hand in marriage. She had accepted, but it wasn't a smooth ride ahead. She kept being wishy-washy with her relationship and it wasn't so great between us siblings as well. As the eldest child, she believed that she had the power to yell and order us around. Eventually, she was caught in the act and got scolded. She ran away with her fiancé, but, later on my parents forgave her when she had finally apologized.

Now, the second eldest had all sorts of problems. In her senior year of school she went around fooling with men. Like old men that were twice her age. Our parents eventually found out and took her out school. Although, she had already graduated by that time, so the result weren't that affected.

The years went by. It had seem like things had finally cooled down. However, I now know that life takes unexpected turns. My second eldest sibling eventually started to become close with this man that our Pastor introduced to my father. She had told him to help the man adjust to the new environment and that the man had a family, a wife and a son, who he needed to support from afar. Even so, that same married man started to catch feelings for my sister. He had told her that he was forced to marry his wife. That his wife was a fickle woman that didn't love him. My poor sister had believed him and thinking that they were meant to be. I had told my sister that she was foolish for believing such unbelievable nonsense, but she didn't take my word. Eventually, she told our mother that the man had professed his love and that he wanted to be with her. But, our mother, a traditional and stubborn woman, went to his house and demanded that he shall not think of such a thing.

He left the next day.

A week after, while my two eldest sisters were at work, the man had came to their workplace and had told the manager that my second eldest sister had called and told him that she wasn't feeling well that day. We later found out it was a lie; he came on his own. So, my sister had left with him and we called multiple times to tell him that he was wrong for taking a young woman when he had wife and son that lived abroad. However, my sister didn't care.

A month past. My sister called my parents and said that she was sorry. They went to pick her up that day.

The next day we had church. My parents had decided to let my second eldest sister to stay so that she can relax with the younger siblings. When we returned, she wasn't there and the children were left behind sleeping on the floor. We called the man again. The next day, my sister came home by foot, but we don't know how and she never told us how.

She now has a boyfriend who seems to like her a lot. But, she doesn't seem to like him at all.

And, this is where we are now.
