Chapter 26 - Unexpected Encounter

In the midst of complete chaos, Druak sat there, closing his eyes. He could hear the screaming for help and could smell the burning of flesh but he continued to sit there.

As Druak sat in the middle of the chaos the only thing he could hear was the scream for help from his best friend and mother, it was torture and every second he heard it he wanted to get up and run to them. But each time that thought came to mind so too did Astra constantly saying. 'You can make it, I believe in you.' Somehow with the help of Astra, he managed to push through it.

As he opened his eyes he soon realised that he was lying in a bed. At first, Druak was confused as to how he got there, but after being greeted by a middle aged man who had just walked into the room he eventually realised what had happened.

'So that was a test. What a horrible exam this has turned into.'

As Druak began to sit up the man turned around with a slightly shocked expression and said."You're already away, but how."

The man then proceeded to approach Druak, casting a strange spell that enveloped Druak's entire body in green light.

'I always hate when healing mages do this.' Druak had experienced this a few times in his past life and never liked the feeling, it felt as if his entire body was being invaded and causing a really irritating feeling wherever the mana flowed.

This feeling soon subsided and the mage then looked at Druak saying."You're bodies in perfect condition, congratulations on being one of the fastest applicants to pass this test. I am going to check on the other applicants, if you have any problems be sure to let me…"The man stopped speaking for a second and looked down at the badge on my uniform. He seemed to notice something as when he continued with what he was saying, he now had much more of an annoyed tone."Actually, don't call for my help. You don't deserve it, peasant."

As the man opened the door he was suddenly stopped by the figure of a rather old looking man, the strange thing was that despite looking old he didn't budge in the slightest when the man slammed into him, it was as if he was a solid brick wall.

"Who dares be so insul…." As the middle aged man spoke he also looked up at the old man, much taller than him and as he did so his face plummeted as if he saw his greatest fear.

Trying to speak the man eventually managed to stutter a few words out."M... m... mister Heart, I'm s... s... sorry for getting in your way." He then quickly scurried off out of the room.

This was the same teacher that had given Druak and his group the explanation of the exam, or at least was going to. The once cheerful teacher now had the face of a man ready to kill someone, even exuding such a killing aura that it caused Druak to grab his throat in an attempt to catch his breath.

The man then let out a voice that seemed to echo throughout the room, despite it being only as loud as a normal voice."Despicable, what kind of healer treats their patience in such a way."

The man then turned around and looked at Druak. Realising what he had done the teacher quickly calmed his killing aura and began to speak, this time in a much calmer voice."Oh my. I'm terribly sorry. I have a habit of releasing my killing aura. I hope that you're alright young one."

Druak looked up at the old man before him, still slightly shocked by what had just transpired. After catching his breath and realising what had happened he managed to let out a few words."Yes, I'm fine. I know this might seem strange to ask but what was that aura you just used."

The man looked down at Druak with a slight smile on his face and responded by saying. "What a curious one you are. Let's see how you do in the future and I might consider telling you." The man then walked out of the room, chuckling as he exited.

'What a strange teacher.' Druak thought, although he also seemed to have a faint smile on his face.

Astra on the other hand did not seem to like the aura she felt as she had a face twisted with anger, although she hid it from Druak.

After settling down a bit Druak noticed that he felt a much stronger bond with Astra, it was enough to read her thoughts but he could tell how she was feeling almost instantly, as long as she allowed it. Once he realised this he decided to scan his body with Dragons insight, it was very similar to what the middle aged man did, however, it instead didn't show any signs of the scanning and also felt much more pleasant for Druak, feeling more like calm river flowed through his body.

'It seems the closer we become the higher my bond strength with Astra becomes. But I still don't understand what more bond strength actually does.' As Druak thought of this he heard the sound of banging.

Quickly standing up he rushes to the door, swinging it wide open. As he does so he realises exactly where he was, he was in the rooms that had the small griffon doors and from the looks of it the crystal orbs informed you of the state the patient was in, some were green but most were yellow in colour.

After looking at the doors he heard the loud banging once again and decided to head towards the sound. As he approached the sound he started to hear the sound of panting and the swooshing sounds of weapons flying through the air.

*Bang* This time the sound was much greater and Druak could finally see what was making all the noise. Before him was a fierce fight between a beautiful, attractive red haired and a large brutish man. However, whenever Druak watched the girl's movement it looked more like a wild dance, each move flowing into the next. "Beautiful." Druak blurted out, not realising he said those words out loud.

As Druak spouted out those words it seemed to be heard by the red haired girl and caused her to lose the flow of her movements. The large man took advantage of this and swung his giant greatsword at her. As the sword flew towards the girl she quickly lifted her weapon up to guard against the attack, fire spurting out of her weapon.

As the flames flew out of the sword so too did a phoenix, covered in beautiful flames of red and blue. The phoenix flew straight at the greatsword melting it to pieces and sending what remained flying in the air.

A man's voice could suddenly be heard from within the hall, it was a voice of both disappointment and anger."Raya, what are you doing. I warned you not to use your magic, you need to learn to fight without really on it. Do you understand!"

The girl's voice responded, much softer than the man's yet it also seemed to have a wild side to it."Yes Sir. It won't happen again." She then proceeded to bow towards an older looking man that was on the side of the arena, Druak had assumed this large older looking man in full plate armour was probably the person she was talking to.

She then started walking in the direction of Druak. As she calmly walked past him she sent out an aura that felt as if it would burn his entire being, it was as if he was in the Volcanic Isles all over again. This had caused Druak to break into a cold sweat and made him both surprised and slightly weary of this girl he had never met before, the main reason for his surprise was the fact that she had such control of her aura that even if she used it she could still keep that calm and composed expression.

As he stared straight at her she gradually turned to look at him and said."Another perverted Idiot." She seemed to want to punch him but sighed and decided to walk away from Druak, stopping her aura in the process.

Astra seemed to find this rather fun as she quickly smiled and said."I like her, she also thinks of you as an idiot."

"Why you." Druak stared at Astra as he tried launching small blasts of ice, each managing to be dodged by Astra as she continued laughing at Druak.

As they joked Druak had yet to realise this was his first encounter with the best applicant the academy had ever seen.
