Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: IT’S VERY DIFFICULT

Alayna never thought that her life will become so difficult as that. She had working hours just like any other employee. Her tuck-shop as which was selling breakfast only at the moment, it was open from eight in the morning to noon.

After that, she will close and do whatever she wanted. she also found out that she can eat food from the tuck shop and she doesn't have to pay for it. The prices were a bit crazy and it made her wonder if anyone will buy them.

Every morning she will have a serving of steamed buns that were five and cost 500 copper coins. The jug of water was also the same price so if one wanted to have the two it was 1 silver coin.

These prices were simply very ridiculous as for 1 silver coin, a family can live for a year. She had thought like this before she had eaten the food, after she ate the steamed buns and drank the water, she cried tears of joy.

If anyone were to get lucky to eat this food, she was confident that their lives will be changed forever. Alayna had internal injuries that had not been healed for years but after eating these buns for days she could feel the injuries slowly getting healed.

To think that she was selling such miraculous food with spiritual energy injected into it, she was very lucky. She was now striving to work hard and find a customer. As long as she finds just one then all of her problems will be solved.

But Alayna found out that living in the forest has its own problems. If she had chosen to live somewhere else, maybe she would be popular among the people with her food now. She should have not lived in the forest but it was already too late to think otherwise.

She only has one week to complete the mission and yet five days have already passed and she had not seen any person or animal passing by the tuck shop site, she was on the verge of going crazy.

On the seventh day, Alayna had a gloomy expression on her face, she had dark circles. This was the last day of the mission and she hasn't managed to sell anything. Every single day she has to watch the food vanishing to God knows whereas no one bought the scones.

No one even entered the forest so the stress levels were very high. She didn't want to miss out on the benefits of having a system.

Alayna was counting down the time as the tuck-shop came with a clock so she was able to read the time correctly instead of guessing. Around eleven in the morning, just less than an hour before the tuck-shop closes, Alayna suddenly stood up when she found herself looking into the eyes of a man with a scar on her face.

What scared her the most was the fact that this person silently walked all the way to her tuck shop and she didn't hear a single thing. This kind of ability was very shocking and scary, she felt like dying.

"You… how did you get here?" she asked nervously as she looked at the man who didn't look so right.

The man looked dumbfoundedly at the woman who was inside a store. It was the first time that he has ever seen someone so daring to open a shop in the middle of the forest.

He didn't think that anyone will be living in the forest and even open a shop there. Where was she hoping to get the customers from?

"I wanted to check what is going on here. Is this shop operating?" he asked curiously as he checked inside the shop.

Alayna was so happy to hear this question. She had been looking forward to having anyone just pass here and ask her this question. She just hoped however that this person will not leave after hearing her prices.

"Yes, the shop is operating. I am currently selling steamed buns and water," she answered earnestly with a smile.

The man found the lady a bit courageous to operate a shop in the Dark Forest but in the world that they live in, they were cultivators so maybe she was strong enough to take care of herself.

"How much are you selling them for?" the man asked as he felt pity that such a lady was stuck in this place.

She mustn't have made a sale and he just wanted to help her before he went on his way.

"It costs 500 copper coins for each and 1 silver both," Alayna proudly answered.

She was very proud of what she was selling, they were all miraculous. It wasn't like she was running some pyramid scheme that she should be ashamed of.

The man was so shocked to hear about these prices. Since when did buns that cost less than 10 copper coins in a basket with like ten or more buns ended up being so expensive?

"Are you kidding me?" he was so angry hearing this.

How can she play with his emotions like this?

Alayna sheepishly smiled and answered the man, "you will understand why they are priced that way when you eat them. I can guarantee you that you will be satisfied but if you aren't then I will refund you."

Since Alayna needed this sale, she decided to go all out. The man saw the earnest expression on the lady's face and sighed. It was already difficult to live.

Since he was on a journey of no return, he might as well spend his last money and help someone in need.

"Fine, give me one serving of steamed buns and a jug of water," the man ordered as he took out the only silver coin that belongs to him.

Alayna wanted to dance around when she received the silver coin. She wanted to hug the man and shower him with kisses but that will only shame her.

The man watched as the lady enthusiastically placed the money in a strange box and she took a paper bag and put five steamed buns inside it.

Alayna brought the warm paper to the man and brought the jug of water to him as well.

"You can eat it, I promise you that tomorrow you will be coming here for more," she happily said as she looked at the man.
