" As if. ", Alex scoffed. " You were my fiance fifty years ago, not now and that was also not on my own will. "
" Still, there was a time when we exchanged vows and rings. ", Clara replied.
" And right after that our engagement broke. I am reminding you in case you forgot. "
Alex's harsh words made Clara freeze for a second. Even Lilly started wondering why he was continuously being so rude to her. She thought that his words broke her heart and that was the reason she became quiet.
However to her surprise, Clara smiled and spoke up again.
" I know, I remember that. I also remember how happy you were at that time. ", she said with a smile.
" I really was and just for your information, Lilly is really living with me. "
" Oh really! I already expected that. So Lilly, ", she said, turning her head towards Lilly. " Shall we start your session now? Alex and my history goes back in time so it will take a while to discuss everything. Shall we first get over with the main task for which you are here? "
" Sure. ", Lilly replied.
" So Dr Alex, would you like to give us the room now? ", she said to Alex.
" Why? I am the guardian? Why will I leave? "
" Because guardians are always required to stay outside during the sessions. There is no personal reason for that. It is just a rule. ", Clara explained calmly.
" Why? ", he asked again, still not about to understand the logic.
" Why are you asking as if you don't know? It is so that the patient can talk comfortably without any pressure. "
" So how will I know when the session is complete?", he asked worriedly.
" I will call you or send someone to inform you. Is that alright?
Alex nodded as he got up to leave.
" Then I will be in my office. ", he said as he left.
After he left, Clara comfortably sat on her chair.
" Isn't living with him more of an headache? "
" Well, he takes good care of me and it's not like I will be living with him all my life so it's fine. ", Lilly replied.
" That's true too. So, I read your reports and referal and came to know that you have lost your memory but I want you to tell me exactly what the problem is. Be completely honest to me. "
" I don't know. The last thing I have is the memory of past week. When I woke up I had already turned into a vampire and was in Alex's house. ", she explained.
" It's normal to forget your past life if it was not worth remembering after turning. "
" No, my past life was very good and I had no, have a loving family waiting for me too and is that memory loss partial? Why have I only lost memories of just a week? "
Dr Clara started going through all the reports again. She read and examined them for a while.
" All your reports seem normal. ", she said and put aside all the documents. " Then do you remember the moment right before you turned? Usually everyone remembers that at any cost. "
" I think I do. I was laying on the cafe when Alex gave me a tranquilizer. "
" Do you not remember anything before that? "
" No. "
" Then it must be after you turned. You don't need any shot to turn anyone."
" Maybe. "
" Well, there can be many reasons for short term memory loss but according to what I think, the cause might lie during the time you were human. What is the last thing you remember? "
" I was at a party with my friends. "
" And what was the date and time?"
" It was 15 around 8 to 9 pm and the next thing I remember, I was in Alex's room and a week had already passed. "
" And what did Alex say? How long were you in his house? "
" Only for some hours and I also remember that I was in a cave at that time as Alex had injected me. "
" Did you return home after that party? ", Dr Clara asked.
" I don't even remember that. "
" Try to think harder. "
Lilly closed her eyes and started recalling the memories of the party. She could see herself talking with her friends, dancing, eating food and having fun. Rest everything remained blank. The more she tried to remember, the more her head hurt. Ignoring the pain, she kept on trying until it felt like her head would explode from pain.
" Ah!! ", she cried, grabbing her head in pain.
" What's wrong? Is your head hurting? ", Dr Clara asked, worriedly.
" Yes. Whenever I try hard to get my memories, my head hurts like this. It feels as if it will explode from the pain. ", she explained.
" It's fine, let's take it slow. Afterall this is your first session only. Let's talk about the things you remember. ", the doctor replied with a gentle smile.
" There is nothing wrong with my brain, right? Will this memory loss affect my future life? "
" Of course not. Your reports are completely normal and short term memory loss won't affect your normal life. Don't worry. "
" Thank god. So will I ever get these memories back? "
" You may or may not get them back. In most cases people do get there memories after some efforts. "
Like this they talked for a while as Dr Clara calmly explained her everything and the session ended an hour and then Clara ended the session.
" Shall I tell my inference right now or would you like me to tell you along with Alex? He is your guardian at present so I need to tell him too but first I have some question to ask from him. ", Dr Clara asked.
" You can tell me after Alex comes. ", she replied.
Clara picked up her phone and dialled a number which clearly appeared to be Alex's with the way she was talking.
" Yes session is over, come quickly I have some questions for you. ", she said as she hung up on him.
It took some time for Alex to come but as soon as he entered, Dr Clara started questioning him.
" Why did you turn Lilly? ", she asked directly, right in front of Lilly, taking Alex by surprise.
" Why... Why are you asking me that? ", he asked, flustered.
