Chapter 20 - Wake up

He stared at his young master as if his thoughts had suddenly stopped.

His young master of 7 years, who was born as a "Warrior" among the Flower, was trying to cope with the concept of luck and fate already.

Needless to say, it was all a misunderstanding of his own.

Raimon was just tricking his nanny who was younger than him in his first life to do his bidding.

To be honest, no seven-year-old would talk about such matters, even if he was a genius born into the dreaded Flower family. However, Reineza and the others in Castle Blood had no reason to doubt Raimon's words and actions.

No one could imagine that he had retained the memories of his first life.

Something had changed in the young master since he met the Duke.

"The Duke must have told him something crucial."

Reineza fixed his expression and bowed.

"In that case, I won't stop him. I believe the young master will one day become a remarkable warrior who will lead the clan."

"Having heard your honest opinion, I must say that I am extremely proud of you, Young Master."

"Thank you, Reineza. Until I leave Blood Castle, I will spend 1 or 2 hours a day in the tomb."

"Yes, Young Master."

"And while I'm there, I don't want to be disturbed in any way, do you understand?"

"I will inform the gentlemen about that. Also, Young Master?"

"Yes?"

"If I had to say something as your babysitter and as an adult... it's not always good to think too much about such matters at a young age. Please enjoy doing fun activities from time to time."

"Okay, Reineza. In that case... hmm... I want a strawberry shortcake as a snack later. With lots of honey on top."

Reineza's stiff expression finally loosened and color returned to her face.

"I'll make the best strawberry shortcake in the world. Have a good time."

Raimon smiled cheerfully and immediately left the room.

"I've done it!"

"Now I can concentrate on transcription without having to worry about anything."

For the past two months, Raimon was always nervous when he entered the subway chamber. If the knights or Reineza came looking for him and discovered the hole, chaos would engulf the family.

"Since I've managed to capture father's interest, they probably won't execute me, even if they find out about this. But it would still be extremely troublesome and disconcerting."

A humming sound escaped from his nose unconsciously. Even the Earth Resonance spell seemed to be creating a rhythm as he destroyed the subway wall he had resealed the day before.

He planned to transcribe the latest volume of the Moon Clan's tomes on close combat techniques.

Scribble, scribble, scribble!

As he was glad that his remaining five years in the castle would be peaceful, he copied the contents of the page.

His reincarnation was truly a blessing for him.

"The Moon family's close combat technique doesn't seem as difficult to understand as the Magno family's swordsmanship."

"But this passage about merging the physical body with the aura... I don't understand it. Oh, well, I'm sure it will become clearer in time."

He spent an hour inside the subway library.

After transcribing several pages without a break, Raimon's thin, soft fingers throbbed. He decided to take a three-minute break.

Crrrrrrrr...

He heard a noise behind the sliding door. Raimon immediately stood up in surprise and concentrated his senses.

It was the sound of the glass wall opening.

During the last two months he had spent transcribing the books underground, the only sounds that echoed down there were those of his pencil scribbling on the paper and the occasional blowing of the wind.

That's why, despite being separated by the sliding door, Raimon knew instinctively that Eclipse's glass wall was opening.

Anyone else in Raimon's situation would have come to the same conclusion.

"Damn it. Why is Eclipse waking up precisely now?"

Ba-dump! Ba-dump!

His heart raced like crazy as if he had lost control over himself.

The quiet, safe subway area of Castle Blood had suddenly become threatening and dangerous. A shiver ran down his spine as a cold sweat crept down his face.

"Could it be... I heard it wrong?".

When silence fell, Raimon began to doubt his ears. The earlier sound could have been something else, or Raimon could have imagined it all along.

His hopes were dashed, however, as another click sounded beyond the sliding door.

That wasn't the only noise this time. He could hear the scraping of scales against the glass wall, along with the sound of someone's feet touching the floor.

It was impossible for the dragon that had been sleeping for a thousand years to suddenly be sleepwalking. It could only have awakened for a clear reason and purpose.

Or it could be that his lethargy had finally ended, and the timing was a complete coincidence.

"Calm down, calm down. I have never offended Eclipse before. He shouldn't be hostile against me..."

He didn't remember Eclipse waking up if not father had returned.

There is no way Raimon could have missed the news of Eclipse's awakening, especially since he also lived in Castle Blood.

"'My guess is that Eclipse awakened because of my constant appearance here."

There was a famous story all over the continent. It said that one should not disturb a sleeping dragon. Otherwise, one would lose one's life.

Needless to say, despite being a famous story, people rarely encountered dragons in real life.

In any case, the moral of the story was.

Dragons have terrible personalities.

"Hey."

Flinch.

A deep, gravelly voice reached Raimon from behind the door. Raimon was still pondering how to survive this situation.

A few chaotic seconds passed. He decided how to behave with Eclipse.

Be respectful but cheeky.

"Even if Eclipse tries to attack me... I just need to buy time until the knights arrive."

But that was only for the worst case scenario.

And even if the worst case scenario happened, Raimon was confident that he could survive with his life intact at the very least. He could easily buy time with Belenus' spiritual power, his own physical power and his silver tongue.

He was unlikely to die.

As soon as he came to that conclusion, the tension weighing on his shoulders eased.

Eclipse could also be different from what he imagined. The dragon could be friendly to him rather than hostile.

Sccrt.

Raimon stood up and opened the door to look at Eclipse.
