Chereads / Seduced By My Rogue Mate / Chapter 31 - Weeding

Chapter 31 - Weeding

I stood, transfixed for a long time, thinking about the reason for his change of mind, but I can't think of anything that could have made him change his mind at the last minute.

Deciding to leave things as they are, I walk back to my room. He made me eager to have a run, but right now, he has disappeared without a trace.

I can't hear his sound in the house, and that might mean he has either gone out, or he's already at sleep.

The morning was still the same. Fern didn't say anything much during breakfast, except to remind me of the run with the pack.

"Are you going out to work with your pack members?" I ask when he stood to carry his plates to the sink.

"That's what I usually do whenever I have nowhere to go." He answered, before walking into the kitchen to deposit the used plates.

I hastily ate my food, to join him, but I wasn't fast enough. He left before I finished my meal.

I washed the plates, took my bath, and got ready for the day. I wore the black short I got during my visit to my pack, and a loose tank top. This way, I won't get to sweat like a Christmas goat without reason.

The weather was as hot as I predicted it, and I was grateful for the light clothes I'm putting on.

At least, they are capable of shielding me from the hit.

Today, they are not at a place. And it's mainly based on the fact they happen to be weeding. I look around the place, searching for the rogue, but he wasn't around, just like yesterday.

"Good morning." I smile at the old man whom I had a chat with.

"You came back?" He looked shocked at the prospect.

"Of course I did." I smile at him, "Were you expecting me not to be here?"

"That's not it. Youngsters of this day are nutcases. I don't understand the way they think and all that."

I smile at him. "I'm here to help you."

I did resist the urge to scoff at his words. This old man surely must be coming from the Old Testament.

"That's good. Our Alpha finally found —" He paused before turning to face me, "you can start by removing the yellow grasses. Leave the wedding to experts." He said before he started weeding.

I wanted to badly ask what he meant by his words of minutes ago, but I restrained myself from doing so.

Asking him that seems rude, since it's obvious he would rather not complete it.

I did as he asked, removing the yellow grasses and pilling the small stack, on the floor close by.

"I never pegged you as someone who loves to work." The elder said conversationally, "you didn't strike me as someone who loves to work. You look —"

"Haven't you heard, that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover? It's rude to do that."

Now, it's my turn to frown like an Alpha whose identity was mistaken.

" I know. But in most Aspects, you can judge a book by its cover." He gave me a kerchief," wipe the sweat from your face."

" Thanks." I took it with my dirty hands and wiped the sweat off my face.

" You are welcome." He gave me a look before he continued with what he was doing.

I heard the sound of laughter, and turned, only to ball my hands into fists when I saw who was behind that laughter.

The rogue Alpha and the same female whom I saw him with were laughing as they worked, and no one made to stop them.

I wanted, so badly, to go over there, and tug the girl on her hair while threatening to tear her hair out should she so much as smile at him.

And to make the matter worse, he's shirtless. The glistering of the water on his body made me want to protect him from the eyes of those who would like to look at the beauty of the rogue.

"Alpha and Lolita are like a match—"

"Are there more grasses to pile?" I stood from the ground.

What I wanted to do right now isn't to heap grasses on each other. I wish to walk over there, drag her hair to teach her a lesson of her life, and drag him out of there.

I'm itching to show her she messed with the wrong person.

But instead of doing that, I decided to pretend not to be affected by what was happening around me. I pretended it didn't hurt me to see him smiling and laughing at another while he ignored me.

It hurts badly.

And —

Why's it even hurting?

I can't tell the reason for that. All I know is my heart aches as Nothing else has ever done. It felt as if my heart is laced with lead.

"Oh, that?" The old man turned and looked around. "You can help those males there. I think they need a helping hand."

"Roger that." Smiling at him, I walk over to the males he pointed out to.

Two of the muscular males look to be siblings, while the only one among them with blonde hair looks like he doesn't belong.

The three of them are shirtless, and that made their muscular chest visible. Had I been one who swings that way, I would have drooled at the heavenly abs in front of me.

But no, my mind seems to think a particular Rogue's abs are the best thing after sliced bread.

The two males who are like siblings have their long black hair, tied into a ponytail. While the other one has his head cropped low.

The only thing identical about them is the colours of their eyes. The peculiar yellowish green of their eyes makes me want to pluck the balls from their socket and hide them in a safe place.

The eyes will look in glass.
