It had been a few hours since Clarke sent a summon to Smith, but there was no response. Despite her calm expression inwardly her heart was beating rapidly and her instincts as a ruler made her feel something really bad was about to happen.
-Beep-
Within the silent conference room, the jarring noise of a notification reverberated. Evan and Wilson turned their attention towards Clarke whereas Old Seven and the Director were not bothered about it.
Clarke furrowed her brows as she checked the message. And sure enough, her intuition was right, something indeed was not right.
It was then the Director opened his eyes and looked at Clarke. The calmness in his pupils reflected that he was aware of the truth.
Clarke too decided that she could not hide this as she spoke.
"Forgive me, esteemed guests from the Academy. But I just received a message from Governor Duffy, Smith has fled the State and is no longer reachable."
