Chapter 38 - Code Name Trinity

Located in the western part of the Earth's North American continent was a bunker within which stood around twelve people covered in protective suits as they observed something on a screen wearing glasses.

-BOOM-

Just then a shocking explosion occurred and the entire ground trembled with the sheer tremors emanating from the resultant shockwave. The faces of the twelve people were glued to the screen on which one could observe a huge mushroom cloud that carried with it raging flames, ash and other harmful materials as it soared towards the sky.

Horror and terror visible on their faces along with fear and regret. Two men among the group shook hands with one another and then slowly everyone departed as the test had been successful, concluding the beginning of a new era for the Human race on the planet.

Within the base camp of the test site a man with two silver stars on his shoulders could be heard reporting to someone.

"Mr. Secretary, Doctor has just returned most enthusiastic and confident that the little boy is as husky as his big brother. The light in his eyes discernible from here to High Hold and I could have heard his screams from here to my farm." The man relayed his report.

After receiving his reply, the man disconnected the connection and lay powerlessly on the chair.

'May there never come a day I am ordered for such a weapon to use.'

He thought as he glanced at a report that was present on his desk stamped with a 'confidential' stamp and code named 'Trinity'. The person did not know that his connection had been tampered and he was being spied on. The said person was Major General Leslie Groves, the man in-charge of a project codenamed 'Manhattan Project'.

The planet was embroiled in the war that spanned across the entire globe. Millions of people including civilians and military were losing their lives in this war. Within the same base camp was a human who wore a simple military uniform, though on his left hand there was a tattoo of 'A' which was hidden under his sleeve. Taking a big stretch to relax his nerves this person proceeded to open the drawer beside his bunk bed and he took out a small bracelet.

Secretly keeping the bracelet within his pocket the person headed towards the toilet but not before making a brief stop to pick something up from the communication center. Once inside the toilet, the person's expression turned solemn as he immediately swiped his fingers on the bracelet and it lit up in blue light as a projection of a console filled with multiple characters popped up.

Using the encrypted language that he was trained with, he hurriedly typed the message and sent it along with an encrypted file attached to it that he received from the communication center. Just as he sent the message, few other people within the base camp were alerted. Although they could not discern and stop the message from being sent, they were able to track the source of the signal and they immediately caught up with the person who sent the message and was trying to flee.

"It seems like a spy from the Academy. What do we do Captain?" Asked one of the people who held the man captive as he gazed at his 'A' tattoo.

"Leave no trace or the Monarch won't be happy about it once he knows." The Captain ordered as he left.

But just as the captive man was about to be killed something flashed past his eyes and a brown skinny man dressed in the uniform of the Academy appeared. With a gentle punch the man was sent flying and the captive was released.

"Dron don't kill them, we need them alive to gain some answers and also keep your movements discreet. We do not want to alert others." Another voice sounded from behind the person with brown hairs as one could observe a similar person with black hairs and pupils filled with stars radiating calmness as he stood with his hands clasped behind.

-Thud-

"Hey Aria, I caught this fellow!" A woman reported as she threw the person that was called by the tag of Captain, on the ground and now lay unconscious.

"Good work, Jasmine." The person with the black hair praised the woman.

That was right, the trio were Aria, Dron and Jasmine. It had been more than a month since the trio started their lessons in the Academy and they had seen substantial results. Dron and Jasmine had both been promoted to Level-2 and Aria too was making progress with the constant supply of the Primal Vital Energy from the training capsules.

His strength was increasing in real time, not to mention the fog that sealed his memory was disappearing rapidly.

It was after the duo's promotion to Level-2 that Old Seven had assigned Aria with the mission to protect the spies sent by the Academy. Although he had not provided him with the details, he did mention that he could recruit two team members. Aria decisively chose the duo as they were the only ones he was close with.

The Academy classes were on break as the cadets needed to have ample rest between the high intensity lessons. Not to mention that there was a prerequisite of completing a mission as a part of their graduation curriculum. The trio would be considered to have partially graduated if they could complete this mission successfully.

They were also provided with fake identities to be stationed within the base camp, but upon the trio's arrival Aria's immediately used the Detection function and caught the Vital Force of few other soldiers ranging from Level-1 to Level-2, so thus he made the decision to only focus on the important issues.

It was only today that he caught hold of the movements from the spies and thus stumbled upon the current opportunity to capture the traitors.

"What now?" Jasmine asked as she looked at the unconscious person from the Academy and the other people, who were supposedly the traitors or so the duo believed.

"Let's carry them to our hideout. It will be easy to keep them there. I shall inform Old Seven to have them transported soon." Aria instructed as the trio carried the unconscious people on their shoulders to their hideout.

Technically it was not a hideout, but more like the only place that nobody would suspect. The basement that was located beneath Major Generals' quarters. This was something that even the Major General was not aware about and was only created recently underneath the kitchen to be used as a storage place when the trio arrived. Since the location of this place was the focal point of the base camp each and every piece of information flowed through this zone and it was easy for Aria to spy on them this way.
