Chapter 7 - A Deal With My Dad

Janet's POV

I stopped my car in front of the huge metal gate of the mansion and my heart lurches into my mouth, pounding, my scalp prickles and my throat constricts with panic. All the things that happened before I left flashed in my mind and my body shuddered. I inhaled sharply, clutching the steering wheel tight, trying to be cool.

"Madam?" A knock on my car window caught my attention to the guy outside the window. I slide down the window and wait for him to speak, but he finds himself speechless upon seeing me after two years.

"Open the gates!" I commanded, keeping my voice low and face void of any emotion. He nodded warily before walking backwards and commanding the guards to open the gates. Soon, the gigantic gate opened and I took my car inside.

Every single corner reminded me of him. I felt as if something massively heavy was placed on my chest, making it hard for me to breathe normally. I gulped hard, breathing heavily as I watched the enormous mansion before me that I left two years ago to get away from the painful memories. I stopped the car and got out with my eyes fixed on the mansion. I closed the door and walked towards it; the doorkeepers came in front to inspect me but as soon as they recalled me, they froze on their spots and gave me a quick bow before opening the door for me.

"Give me your gun!" Without any word, one of them immediately handed me over his gun and backed away. I loaded the gun and walked past them inside the mansion, but as soon as I was in, my heart clenched painfully with all the memories that I received from it.

Slowly, I looked around the mansion, which hadn't changed a bit. I gulpled, my body begging me to let the tears out, but hell if I allowed one. I bit my lower lip and inhaled with closed eyes to keep myself cool. When I felt relaxed, I opened my eyes and turned to a group of maids looking at me with a skeptical look, as they had never seen me before.

"Where is Williams?" I asked, but they didn't respond. I lifted my gun and shot my brows up, threatening them. They gulped hard and one of them quietly indicated her hand on the door near the stairs. The meeting room. I turned on my heel and barged inside without a knock, taking everyone's eyes on me.

"Charlotte?" My Dad's face beamed in happiness and he stood up, "Oh, my precious. I knew you will-

BANG!

The glass window behind him shattered with a loud booming sound. Shook up, he looked behind and then at me, my gun aimed at him. He sighed, "Precious-

"Where is she?" I asked, my eyes burning with rage. He remained quiet. I clenched my jaw and shot the vase beside him, threatening him.

He squeezed his eyes with dread and replied, "She's upstairs!" He was slightly angry, of course, he wouldn't have expected me to aim my gun at him. I withdrew my hand and turned around to get her but was stopped when he called me out.

"Is that it?" I turned to him, looking at him with no emotions. "You will leave us again?"

"Any doubt?"

"Charlotte, I need you!" He requested, his eyes begging me to stay, but I had made up my mind to never come back. "I know that after your brother's death you hated this place, but precious ever since you took that gun in your hands, you dedicated yourself to this to no escape!" I looked away as he continued, "I didn't disturbed all these years because I knew that after what you've gone through, you need time to collect yourself. And I did. I gave you two years, but not anymore!"

"I DONT WANT THIS!!!" I screamed, my eyes welled up with tears and my voice cracked, "I-I don't want to be a part of this. Nor, do I want to be here or want to stay in any sort of touch with you!"

"You can't escape your fate, precious!" He snapped and I shook my head, "This is not my fate!"

"Then explain to me why after these years you're standing in front of me?" His question left me speechless. He stepped closer and looked me in the eyes, "You belong here, precious! Every time you escape, your fate will bring you back here!"

I smiled, a tear slid down my cheek and dropped, "So, I'm tied to this world?" He didn't respond, just stood there like a static idol, but then his eyes timid and body stiffened when I brought the gun to my head, "This is the only way I can escape my fate, isn't?" His expressions horrified and breath fastened. "Precious, don't?" He said, looking at me worriedly.

"End yourself" I said, and pulled the trigger after closing my eyes.

"CHARLOTTE!!!" Lucas from nowhere lifted my hand and caused the bullet to hit the ceiling. I opened my eyes and looked at him surprised as he snatched the gun out of my hand and threw it away, "WHAT THE FUCK WAS IT?!!!" He yelled, grabbing my forearms strongly. I looked down and broke into tears.

"How could you?" I looked at him, tears falling inconsolably. "HOW?!!" I covered my face under my palms and put my forehead on his chest, "I'm sorry!" He inhaled sharply and wrapped his around me, "Don't you ever dare do this again!" He said, his uneasy breath and shaking body told me how terrified he is.

I hugged him back and shook my head, "Never!" My eyes went to Dad and he was still in hysteria. He pulled away and looked at our Dad with rage, "So, is that the reason why I was suddenly sent to Columbia?" He asked, rolling his fists to sustain the anger.

Dad looked at me and clenched his jaw, "Taking your life was the worst decision of your life, Charlotte William!" He was angry, but hell if any of us cared about him.

"Janet!" Said Lucas, taking our eyes on him, "She's Janet Reyes!"

Dad smiked, "A different name can't change what you are, Son!" He looked me in the eyes as he added, "And no matter how many names she uses, she will always be my precious. My strong, courageous, daughter who I love the most!"

I rolled my eyes.

"If you love her the most, then let her live her life the way she wants!!" Said Lucas, causing Dad to turn red.

"You know, son, that it's impossible!" He once again looked at me and added, "She belongs here and so do you!!"

"I don't believe this!" Lucas shook his head in disbelief, "Right away, she tried to take her life and you're again saying this?"

"She's my daughter!" Retorted Dad aloud, only to receive a louder reply, "But she no longer wants to be your daughter!!"

"Lucas?" I held his arm, trying to calm him, as after what I just tried to do, he's dead mad at Dad. He looked at me and nodded.

"Since the day you left, we're no longer as powerful as before. This is why the ones who never dared to look us in the eyes are attacking us to take over our empire!" I frowned when I heard the word frown. He continued, "Lucas was taking everything sharply and I'm proud of him that, even after all the attacks, we're alive, but when-

"For God's sake Dad, just shut up!!" Yelled Lucas, glaring at him with his fists rolled tight. Seeing his expressions which were threatening Dad to stay quiet made me curious.

I looked at Dad and said, "Go on, Dad!" Lucas looked at me surprised as I added. "I'm listening!"

"He was shot, precious!" My mouth slightly hung open and I looked at him surprised, not believing that he didn't care to inform me all this. Before leaving, I told him to call me back if anything goes out of hand, but he didn't.

"You were shot?" I inquired, glaring at him for not telling me this.

He rolled his eyes, "If you're thinking about putting bullets in their heads as an act of revenge or whatever, then do not fucking dare to ask me to help you out from here ever again!" He turned to Dad, "And what kind of father are you, huh? She nearly killed herself yet you told her all this. I mean, you're emotionally blackmailing her to just bring her back to this fucking hell!! Doesn't her life matter to you?"

"Yes, her life matters to me and that is why I have summoned her here!" replied Dad.

Lucas chuckled, "How many times does she have to tell you that she doesn't want to LIVE HERE ANYMORE!!!"

"She was attacked!!" Yelled Dad and I closed my eyes, trying to keep myself calm, "I'm sorry, but couldn't let my daughter die! And as long as this situation is up. I won't let her go!"

"You mean, if I eliminate the threats, you will let me go and won't disturb me ever again?" I shot him a question, snapping his and Lucas's head at me.

Dad frowned, "What?"

"Yes. I will kill the major keys of this situation and will return you your lost powers as well, but in return, I want you to promise me that you will never try to contact me!" I took a step forward and looked into his blue eyes, "Do we have a deal?" Dad looked at Lucas and then at me, unsure of what to say at this point.

"This is your only chance, Dad!" I said, "Don't make me change my mind." He gulped and finally gave a nod. I smiled, "Cool!" When I looked at Lucas, he was not at all pleased with my decision. I opened my mouth to talk to him but before I could say anything, he stormed off. I scoffed, staring the way he's gone.
