Janet's POV
"You gotta be kidding on me?" Richard asked from the other side of the phone. He was surprised but more confused. I sighed, "I'm not kidding, Richard. I'm serious!"
"Charlotte, I'm warning you. If you do this, then this time there will be no way out!"
"You want me to fix this shit just as much as Dad wants me back. So, don't worry about that thing and tell me!"
He inhaled, "Alright! The information we have followed, Elijah Johnson, is the key person who has provoked many gangsters to stand against Williams. He's the only one who's jumping the most and playing his paws with his ass on the golden chair"
"I've never heard his name before!"
"It's because he stepped into the Mafia a year ago. He was one of the notorious crooks in Komi. Remember Mikhail Smirnov?" I hummed, "He worked for him for years to gain his trust and when he did. He slit Mikhail's throat and got over his territory. And when he learned that the Williams were going weak, he was determined to put them on their knees in order to become the leader of Campania and all the clans that we own! And let me inform you, he is quite near to his aim!"
I sighed, "What's Lucas doing so far?"
"He's doing everything in his possession but everything goes in vain!"
"Did you try to track him down?"
"Yup! He's in Bulgaria!"
"If you know where he is, then what the fuck are you waiting for?" I yelled, "Go and blow his head off!!"
"We did alright! We shot him down once, but that fucker seems a little clever. He not just saved himself so wonderfully but also killed many of us!" Hearing him, I scoffed, not believing that little crooks are now standing against Williams, but then something hit me and my eyes slightly widened.
"Have you guys ever arranged a meeting with all the mafia?" I asked. He replied, "Yes. But almost everyone is trying to take us down! So, meetings have never helped us!" I chuckled, "What?" He was obviously confused.
"He's not the key person, Rick!"
"What do you mean?"
"Doesn't it make you wonder how the hell a crook got so far within a year?"
"I don't understand. What're you talking about?"
"Someone's backing him!" There was a silence before he exclaimed, "Yes! God, how could we not get this? Someone is-Someone is backing him! But-But who? Who's backing him, Charlotte, and why? And when he's capable of putting us down, then why is he hiding? Why is he covering his face behind Elijah's? What's his plan?" He bombarded me with questions.
I clenched and rolled my fists tight before I replied, "My dear fiance, Mr. D'Amlio!"
Author's POV
Amidst acres of land, there stands a strongly fortified castle, surrounded by a forest and lake. Its high walls and stoned sculpture were strong enough to keep the insiders safe, yet it was permanently garrisoned stronghold because it wasn't any tourist place but the home of the most ruthless mafia in Italy. The Valentino D'Amlio! The sun was glowing with pride, gracing the earth with its positive gleam and the sound of birds' chirps and waves were music to ears, making the guards outside the castle smile without realizing. Of course, it was a beautiful morning after the heavy rain that had fallen last night, but then suddenly all the birds were scattered away and a dark atmosphere coated the atmosphere with his arrival.
When the guards saw his red Ferrari approaching them at a mad speed, they quickly stood straight, and put on their usual poker faces, refusing to upset her by showing any sort of emotion towards them. The car stopped in front of the castle with a drift, and caused a exhaust of dirt to spread around it.
A guard quickly came forward and opened the door for him, "Welcome, boss!" Saying nothing, he put his leg out first, then himself, scowling when the glorious sun dazzled his skin and caused him to be mentally disturbed by the warmth he received. His white shirt beneath the dark grey jacket was covered with blood, making him look terrifying. He exhaled the smoke out and said, "Don't let anyone in. I need some privacy!" His men nodded and he walked forward with a straight face, smoking his cigar with his one hand in his jeans pocket.
As he walked in through the huge gate, all the maids and servants were horrified to see his blooded white shirt, but keeping their expressions normal, one maid walked towards him and helped his coat off. He smiled with satisfaction when he saw the amount of fear that woman had for him, "Thank you, Margherita!" She bowed her head and he walked past her, going towards the stairs.
"Good evening, Mr. D'Amlio!" A familiar voice chimed from his back and got his eyes on him. He smiled, not kindly, "Ah, good to see you, Mr. William!"
"Whose blood is that?" Asked Mr. William, even though a part of him knew that he was not getting an answer to that. Valentino puffed the cigar in before he replied, "You're not important enough to know!" Mr. William opened his mouth but couldn't speak when Valentino added, "And whatever work you have with me. Spill it out because I'm not a free person for unnecessary conversations."
"She's back, Son!" Said Mr. William. Valentino blew out the smoke and crushed the cigar under his shoe, "And has believed everything I said to her!"
He looked at Mr. William and smirked, "Of course. It was my plan, after all!"
"A splendid plan!" Grinned Mr. William, happiness evident in both his tone and face, "She's arranged a meeting with all the rivals where you and Elijah are going to be invited too!" Hearing this, Valentino chuckled, "What?"
"I knew that eventually she would figure it out!" He smiled, impressed. Mr. William frowned, "What are you talking about, son?"
He shrugged, "She's discovered that I'm the mastermind of all of this!"
Mr. Williams' expression dropped as he asked, "Wh-What?" He became worried because Charlotte hates him already and if she learns that her father was involved in her fiance's plan, she would never forgive him, or worse, would kill him for real this time. "No! You told me she would never figure it out. You said-
"Don't worry, Jasper," he interrupted, annoyed. "She will never discover your involvement in my plan!"
"What's the guarantee?"
Valentino raised his brows, "Excuse me?"
"When she can figure out that it is your plan, then how could you be sure that she will not discover my involvement in this?" He smiled in fear, "My daughter will hate me forever if she learns that I didn't just risk my son's life, but hers's too to get her back!"
Valentino didn't want to explain anything to him, but seeing that he was the only guy helping him get Charlotte back, he said, "What do you think, Jasper? Why did I shoot Lucas and put the bomb in my Charlotte's car?" He paused, "Because no matter how much your daughter hates you. She will never consider you involved in all this because she thinks you love your children more than anything!"
"I do love my children!!" He retorted, but Valentino only chuckled by looking away because he knew that the man before him craves power. He would rather let everyone die than let his power go! And his involvement in his plan is the proof.
"So, now that you are assured, I'd like you to take a leave!" Said Valentino and Mr. William quietly walked away with a quick nod. He sighed and turned around to head to his room but halted when his phone dinged in his pocket. He pulled it out and checked, only to grin widely upon seeing the invitation from William, "Ah, I can't wait to see you my dear Mrs. future D'Amlio!"
Janet's POV
I sighed, looking at Vero, who was staring at me astounded without a blink. I bit my lower lip, rubbing my fingers against each other due to the nervousness. I gulped, "Okay, I know, It's too much to take, but trust me, Vero, I'm-
"You're a mafia?" She cut me off, "I mean, a mafia?"
"Correction. I was the mafia!"
"Whatever!" She got up from the bed and stood away from me. "I-I just don't believe it. I-I can't believe that you-
"Killed people, tortured many, and used to do all the horrible stuff like kidnapping, smuggling, contract killing!" My heart clenched and tears formed in my eyes that once again I'm going to be left alone. Going to lose my one of the closest people of my life. But I don't complain about it because I've taken many people's closest ones. So, her leaving me would be a punishment that I absolutely deserve.
"That wasn't what I was gonna say!" I looked her in the face as she continued, "I-I do wonder how many crimes you may have committed in your past, but the girl in front of me is no similar to the girl you're saying you used to be!"
That left me stunned. I asked, "So, you-you don't hate me?" She shook her head, a smile dancing on her lips. My heart was filled with contentment to know that. I felt overjoyed, "Thank you!"
"No! No, I'm still mad at you because you hid such a huge thing about you from me, from-from us!" I nodded, a tear sliding down my cheek, that even after knowing the truth, she doesn't hate me. "Janet, I love you! You are my best-friend and you will always remain my best-friend, no matter what. But you gotta tell me and Olivia everything about you! No secrets!"
I got up from bed and took her in a hug. I squeezed my eyes, tightening my grip around her and she softly chuckled. "I'm so sorry that I kept it a secret but the fear of you guys hating me for what I was in my past never gave me courage to disclose my secrets to you!" I pulled away and smiled, "But from on, I won't hide anything from you or Olivia. I promise!"
She smiled, "Good!"
