The wind swallowed Luna's scream. The man before her giggled in triumph as she was helpless. Her voice husky after screaming for help. Despite a small chance to survive, Luna didn't yield to her fate. She wriggled to fight against her dismay and rescue herself.
On the other hand, that man's scrutiny didn't even shift from her body like a hungry predator toward his prey. In a short time, he could devour her whole.
However, living in hardship had taught her many lessons. Finding his drawback might help her. She had to be able control herself, not showing him her own fear.
Before she could think of any method to deal with this young man, that man in a disheveled t-shirt and colorless jeans with his face under the mask and hoodie stretched his hand out to touch her chin. She jerked her head back.
"What is it you want? I don't even know you. Why are you doing this to me?" After a long silence, she forced herself to speak up.
"You don't have to know me. As long as I can finish you, I will get my pay."
"How could you do this to me?"
"That is the question I always ask God. Why does God let my parents leave me and my sister? Why does He let my sister lie on the bed, in serious sickness without any help?" He protested in a high level intonation; whether it was to God or her, Luna was clueless. "And that beautiful woman came to me like an angel. She offered me money for killing you." He sneered and then fished the blade out of his jeans pocket abruptly and nudged to the side of her neck. Luna couldn't hold back her scream while yanking her body back.
"Please… don't kill me..please…" he paused with the tip of the object almost jabbing her neck.
"Do you have money?" His head with a smirk on his lips tilted.
"I don't but I know someone who has money. I-I can h-help you and your...sister and take your sister to the hospital. But, please let me go." She made the promise instantly without even considering the risk. How could she persuade Grandma Li to give this man assistance, especially since it was about tons of money? Yet, she couldn't gulp her words back into ver mouth. That man creased his forehead, thinking of her offer.
"How can I trust you?"
"I am the wife-to-be of Li Enterprise's CEO." His laughter roared through the room. It wasn't strange that he would not believe in Luna's sentence. With her ugly look and simple outfit, who would trust that she was the wife-to-be of one of the richest people in China?
"Do you think that I will listen to your nonsense?" Now the blade drew nearer and nearer to her neck. "Then I can say that I am a son of the president of this country." He laughed out loud.
"Please...trust me. I am not lying."
"But, I won't let the gold slip in my fingers for the sake of your brag!"
"I am not bragging."
That man almost opened his mouth but the door was kicked open harshly. A man in a neat shirt appeared. Luna's eyes widened in disbelief, Danish stood there anxiously.
Shocked by an intruder, that young man posed a knife on Luna's neck while alerting Danish not to move even an inch. Otherwise, Luna would lose her life.
"Stay where you are or she will meet her death." From his shaking voice, Luna was convinced that the young man was an amateur murder.
Like a statue, Danish froze in his feet but his eyes observed the man from top to toe as if searching for an opportunity to attack.
Luna felt the trembling hand of the young man. Nevertheless, she could do nothing but being alerted.
She didn't fathom how it began; a can flew in the air and blew the young man's forehead. He flinched backward and the blade in his hand was thrown somewhere. His torso hit the wall behind him after a kick landed on it.
Danish in a quick movement grasped his hand. His fast punches struck his weak body and face over and over. That man screamed in pain. It only stopped when Luna implored Danish to quit. The man's face had turned black and blue.
"Please… Don't hurt him. He didn't do anything to me after all."
Danish kept his mouth shut while untying the rope. Only a frown remained on his face after his strike toward that young man. Then, he walked out of the room without even saying anything.
That frigid CEO acted as though she was nothing but a burden for him. Realizing that, Luna could only eat her sadness.
That young man still grunted in suffering. He still crouched in the corner of the room with one of his hands treating his bruised cheeks.
"Are you okay?" Luna hesitantly approached him.
"You...why do you care?"
"May I know your name and where you live?" As if not sure what he caught, he looked up at Luna for repeated words. "I have promised you to take your sister to the hospital. I have to fulfill that."
"You...why do you care to help me after what I have done to you?"
"You have done nothing. You didn't even touch me. I know you are a good person."
"Why? Why are you so kind to me? I am just a ragtag."
"Don't say that. Now please tell me what your name is."
"I am Xiou Feng."
Danish's fast and hurry paces intruded their conversation. Luna looked back at the pouted man who snapped in annoyance.
"So, you will stay here forever with your kidnapper?" His tone encompassed his vexation.
"I have to go. Here is the name card with an address you can visit on it if you have made up your mind to accept my offer." Luna passed him Grandma Li's name card, something she shouldn't have done. But, she had no choice. Knowing that man was in need of help, aiding him a little assistance wouldn't hurt. That man doubtfully picked it from her hand.
Before Luna took a step away, that young man's statement interrupted her.
"You are not curious who has paid me to harm you?"
