Chereads / Chronicles of the alpha and his human mate / Chapter 7 - A descendant is mysteriously dead!

Chapter 7 - A descendant is mysteriously dead!

It was morning already, the atmosphere is peaceful and amicable as usual. A few students could be seen striding towards the class while occasional ones jogged towards the training field.

Meanwhile, Princeton is wakeful as he could be seen crouching silently on his bed. He's peering keenly at the beautiful picture of his mother in his right palm.

"I miss you mom, so damn much," he murmured, sadly.

"Ain't you going to the training field, Alpha?"

Princeton heard a familiar voice ask, he quickly lifted his head and he saw his best friend, Peter standing in front of him with a sly smirk.

"Where have you been? I and Naomi were assigned to fight off the outlawed. You weren't excluded from the task, but we couldn't unearth you," he informed while slightly itching his snout.

"Oh," Peter mugged, he turned and changed positions toward his bed which was opposite Princeton's.

"I took a tour to the otherworld, I went to see someone important," he said, perching his butt on the bed, as he positioned his hands on his lap.

"And you never told anyone? Not even Tremblay? And speaking of that dumb-head, where is he?" Princeton inquired, he bounces his eyes across the room in the exploration of his friend.

"He left already, he said he needed some training," Peter informed, fidgeting his fingers as he glanced at the window, he stared back at Princeton.

Princeton chuckled. "Girl broke his heart?" He asked teasingly.

"I don't know but I would think the same, Tremblay is such a wimp," Peter taunted and they both lightly snickered in joke.

"Hmm..." Peter paused instantly as if remembering something in his head. "I heard a human girl was accepted into the academy," he let out.

Princeton shot him an eye. "Yeah," he nodded in reply as he stood to his feet. He stepped closer to his nightstand which was near his bed and then, he lowered his mother's picture. His mind drifted off at the thought of Sapphire.

"Hmm, that's unusual. I thought the academy doesn't accept humans," Peter said, his lips tightened in a glare.

"It took a lot of pleading to change the Dean's mind. Two nights ago, we saw the human girl in the dark woods, she was apparently in danger so we couldn't leave her all alone," Princeton clarified.

He walked towards his window and stood by it, scrutinizing the steady view outside as the warming breezes wreck his face.

"Danger?" Peter asked, curiously.

His adam forcefully worked up as he gulped down, he jostled his fingers in his disheveled hair while his eyes stared at Princeton's back.

"It's nothing!" Princeton murmured.

He glimpsed at Peter through his shoulder as he pushed him a fake smile. Then, he pulled away from the window and went to the bathroom.

"The human girl? The dark woods?" Peter muttered restlessly as he struggled to make a finding out of it.

Could it in any way be the lifeless girl two nights ago?

Along the feminine dormitory corridor, several girls could be seen trooping out of their rooms recklessly as they left for class.

It's Master Morton's teachings today, he doesn't tolerate unpunctuality.

Meanwhile, Sapphire had just had a cold shower and could be seen standing in front of the dressing mirror as she examined her dress for the day. All thanks to Henrietta, she's got to have a treaty of her wardrobe.

Momentarily, Henrietta was vigorously pacing intensely in the room, her head was crowded with the thoughts of Peter. She's extremely nervous about confronting him but what does she do?!

He wouldn't want to talk to her, he wouldn't want to see her or give her a listening ear. He doesn't want a thing with her but she couldn't stop falling deeply in love with him.

"Darn it!" she cussed, smacking her forehead frustratingly.

Abruptly, Evergreen barged into the room at that moment and came upon the girls still inside, and that made her provoked.

"What the hell?! It's late already and you guys are still not done yet?!" She yelled at both of them as she stood by the door.

She forcefully jammed the door to its core, not minding if it's gonna get broken. She strode into the room and sauntered towards Sapphire.

"I'm done!" Sapphire told, spun and Evergreen crosschecked her properly.

She napped her chin on her palm, narrowing her eyes scantily as she glimpsed upward to her blue hair and then, downward to her toe.

"Nice pink hoodie, satisfactorily black sweatpants, you look good, blue princess!" Evergreen complimented with a grin.

"Blue princess?" Sapphire and Henrietta asked at the same time.

"Yes, it's your nickname from now onward. I love your hair, it's extremely blue and looks natural," Evergreen spoke in panegyrize, she was flattering Sapphire's hair so much she wish she could have possessed one.

"Of course, my blue hair is natural," Sapphire told.

"I knew it! Come on blue princess, Henrietta. We gat to hurry up to class or else, Master Morton would chase out like clout," Evergreen said, she scrambles to the door and the girls followed.

Within nine minutes, they made their way into the class and joined the rest of the students. Every eye turned at Sapphire, faces that engraved resentment and hostility glared at her while a few ones doesn't seem to mind her presence.

Meanwhile, Evergreen was ravaging her eyes in search of a good spot. She caught sight of a vacant seat at the back and they gushed at it, slumping heavily on it.

"That was hell!" Evergreen screamed unrulily and all eyes jerked to her.

"Sorry," she whispered in a tiny tone and with an apologetic manner, the students annoyingly looked away.

"That's quite an attention," Sapphire giggled, she was perching in between the girls.

"I love attention," Evergreen muttered softly into her ears but Henrietta heard her.

"Tell her something I don't know," Henrietta scoffed, she elbowed her arm on the desk and she rested her chin on her palm.

Abruptly, shocking gasps resonated and alarming stares could be perceived across the class. The girls quit chattering as they snapped their heads to the entrance of the class.

It was Princeton, Peter and Tremblay, their best friend too.

"Alpha Princeton is in class!!" A female student unknowingly shrieked.

Everyone began to whisper and murmur among themselves surprisingly, the girls began drooling heavily at the alpha and ogling shamelessly at him.

Evergreen leaned to Sapphire as she whispered. "My brother is gorgeously cute, isn't he?"

"H-huh?" Sapphire shutters as she gawked at her, she was absentmindedly carried away by Princeton's hottest sight.

"I saw you staring!" Evergreen sing-song dramatically which elicited herself a playful slap on her shoulder from Sapphire.

Sapphire glanced at Princeton and caught him looking up at her through his lashes, she nervously looked away.

Princeton smiled handsomely, making him look so sinfully stunning.

"He smiled?!" A girl exclaimed shockingly and the murmuring among the students intensified at the new development of his.

"Shitty girls," Evergreen groaned with an eye roll as she glanced at Henrietta who was speechless, and so did Sapphire peeped at Henrietta too.

They saw her gazing at Peter as the guys walked past them, Henrietta nervously bites her lips, and her heart whips rapidly at the burning tension.

Sapphire took her eyes to Peter once more, he looks familiar to her —and when she struggled to recall where she has beheld him, she gasped lowly.

Peter peeked in Henrietta's way but saw Sapphire instead, his eyes widened in extreme shock and he instantly looked away in sudden terror.

Sapphire knew he recognized her, she faked a cough as she cleared her throat, staring back at Henrietta —she could tell that her poor friend was blinking back tears.

"Is he the one?" She asked.

"Huh? Who?" Henrietta asked as she inhales and exhale.

"Him, your crush?" Sapphire gestures, pointing at Peter who is straddled on his seat with his head positioned on the desk.

"Yeah, he's my mate," she disclosed.

"Mate?" Sapphire asked, confusingly.

"Mate is like a soulmate to the werewolves, they are fated by the moon goddess to be together," Evergreen clarified.

"Moon goddess?" Sapphire asked.

"That's a story for another day," Evergreen replied.

"Oh," Sapphire mouthed at her. "So you got rejected by him, right?" She blurts out the question at Henrietta.

"Hmmm!" Henrietta nods sadly. "He rejected me because I'm a witch," she muttered, awfully.

"Oh," Sapphire mugged, she doesn't know if she should be pleased or not.

She recognized Peter, he was the guy who abducted her by her stepmother's orders. And currently, her stepmom and her daughter would believe she's dead.

Sapphire peeked once more at Peter, if only Henrietta knew the real him. Would she still want to be with a killer for the rest of her life?

"Peter is an ignoramus fool, how could he reject his mate simply because she's a witch? Well, every supernatural has its species and can mate with other species too. Princeton, my elder is a werewolf alpha prince in the pack which is situated outside the walls of the academy, I'm a werewolf princess too, and Peter is a werewolf too... Every other werewolf student must acknowledge my brother as their pack ruler in the academy," Evergreen clarified.

"So Peter is a werewolf," Sapphire inwardly reckoned. "Has your brother found his mate, yet?" She blunts the question at Evergreen before she could stop herself.

"No, he hasn't," Evergreen replied with a shrug.

Sapphire nodded, she doesn't why but she felt this immense emotion of relief and butterflies gush through her stomach. Slowly, she tugged her hair behind her ear as she draws her eyes to the spot Princeton crouched.

She inhaled tightly as she caught him staring at her, and quickly she gawked away. At that stance, Master Morton strolled into the class.

"Good morning class, let's go straight to the point. What is protection?" He inquired with his hands behind him.

He walked toward the table meant for him which was been positioned at the front of the class, he simply stood beside it as he confronted the students.

"Protection is the action of shielding someone from someone dangerous. Perhaps, a villain or anything harmful," Evergreen replied.

"Correct, Miss Evergreen!" Master Morton complimented.

Evergreen grinned, and Princeton scoffed lowly, but she heard him. "Do you need a glass of water, brother? Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm just being concerned because you might die of throat ache," she retorted.

"Mind your business!" Princeton snapped at her and he faced Master Morton's teachings.

"The outlawed are building up in multitudes every single day, we need to be each other's keeper. We need to be strong and spirited, we need to protect the world from destruction and that's the role of a descendant," Master Morton told.

An abrupt silence lulls in afterward, he let his words slip into their perking ears.

"We are called the descendants because we are sent from the heavens, we need to braze up like one," he began again.

"The outlawed were previously just like you all, ancient supernatural. The demons, the witches, the elves, the fairies, the vampires, and a lot of them. However... They were hungered by bloodlust, vicious against each other for a battle of power to rule the world. Only Hector was able to rule but he committed a severe mistake which lead to his downfall and every other supernatural," he taught.

"Sorry for the interruption, Master Morton," Tremblay chipped in and all eyes turned to him.

"But there are rumors that Hector didn't die, but was caged in the underworld. And also, he begot a child who is human which was as a result of his bred with human femininity which was forbidden according to the law of the supernatural," he told.

"Hmm! im-impressive!! W-where did you learn that, Tremblay?" Master Morton shutters, his voice vibrating in curiosity as he restrained his brows with a waggish smile.

Princeton tugged his lips aside as he remained modest, his eyes on Master Morton —something comes across to warn his gut that something is certainly wrong somewhere.

"I love history, I once read the book in the library last week," Tremblay confided and Master Morton nods rapidly.

"I will also love to read the book," Master Morton said with a grin.

"Master Morton, the outlawed were banished from the world but how did they emerge again?" one of the students put forward a question and all eyes were glued to Master Morton for an answer.

"Someone or something must have awakened them," responded a female student. However, their enthusiasm for an explanation lay on Master Morton.

Master Morton simply heaved, and a creepy smile slowly crept on his face as he traversed his hands on his brawny chest.

"Where is Naomi?" He asked instead, furrowing his brows at the students.

His ignorance causes the students to groan in dismay and disappointment as they conveyed a nasty look among themselves.

Master Morton lifted a brow as he explored his eyes on the students, scanning particularly for Naomi.

Abruptly, a nerd-looking male student fled into the class in panic, heavily panting and gasping with a horrifying face as he shrilled aloud.

"A female descendant is found dead!"
