Chapter 5 - It has begun

"He doesn't carry the hate that is majorly seen in the others."

Beep!

"It's only a matter of time, you'd see him for the true monster his kind are without control."

Beep!

"Shhh... You'd wake him up. Just watch as he peacefully sleeps."

Beep!

'What's going on?' Ren tried to block out the remarks made about him.

[Venator, I am your system known as Kilia, let's be friends]

'Friends? Could I have friends?'

"Yo! Dude wake up, we don't have all day to stare and hope you're alive!" A male yelled in close range, confident in his abilities.

Irritated that Ren was given special treatment just because he had a similar Sui with their leader.

Jolting awake with a gasp. Ren tried to move his body but felt some sort of restraint.

Looking down at his body, he realized he was strapped to a chair with magic?

A glowing green translucent vine wrapped around his body in a criss-cross manner, keeping him in place.

"Who the hell are you?!" He raged, angered that he was restrained yet again just like in the rehabilitation centers. The reason for the glow could not be explained.

"Easy Ren, we are your friends." A female with unusual green hair spoke soothingly.

She had it styled in a shoulder-length bob, parted in the middle with two face-framing tendrils. She wore spectacles that brought out the brown in her eyes.

"What's up with your hair?" Ren blurted out, unable to keep in his words as he stared at her hair with undivided attention.

"June, looks like you have yourself an admirer, be careful he doesn't draw out a bit of your blood." A voice cut in with a tease.

"Shut it," she snapped through gritted teeth.

Making a mental count of the number of strange people in front of him, he had managed to get six, with the inability to look behind, Ren could only guess some were staring holes at the back of his head.

Ren frowned, with how they spoke, they couldn't be the ones assigned to keep him from escaping once more.

These people were too casual unlike those walking pieces of wood that had been assigned to him.

'Just who are you, people?' He had wanted to say.

"Hi, I'm June." She offered her hand to him.

Looking at his restrained arm, his lips drew into a line at what he felt like a mockery of his situation. "That was a funny joke."

"Pardon me..." She awkwardly dropped her hand, releasing the vine restraints.

"Much better," Ren stretched his arm. He noticed the walls were coated in metal, there were supposedly no windows or doors.

Shaking his head he had to convince himself that he deserved to be treated most humanely.

"June, do you think it's a good idea to uhhh..." One of the males in his early 20's kept shut the moment he spotted Ren glare in his direction.

"Why am I here?" Ren turned around to count the number of people in the room before he could think of a better plan of escape.

'Fifteen?!' He narrowed his eyes to the situation. There was no way he could escape so easily.

[Congratulations, Venerator. You have gained 2 points. For every new, innovative information gained]

"I wouldn't do that if I were you, escape is inevitable." A female pressed her hand on her temples as it did look like she was struggling to maintain her focus on him.

Her black hair was braided in two cornrows that rested on her shoulders. Her white eyes threw Ren off guard, creeped out by how uncomfortable it made him feel.

Walking past the threshold, a secret door opened up leading into the room, Miss Arisa paused on account of Ren's voice.

'Another strange one?' Ren made a mental note of all that was different from the usual things he knew.

"Where is this place?" Ren finally questioned, curiosity got him asking.

"L.I.F.E. Agency." Miss Arisa cut in, walking over to the nearest desk to sit.

[Exp +2]

Ren shook his head, tempted to laugh at what she had just said. He had thought he was in a rehabilitation center, but an agency?

'I must be crazy to think in this way.' He slapped his cheek several times.

"Let me guess, you're the big boss of this Agency?"

Nodding her head, she had a wry smile on her lips as she locked gazes with Ren until it made him uncomfortable.

"What does L.I.F.E. even mean?" He spoke up.

June timidly raised her hand to get permission from Arisa.

With a nod, June proceeded to go at it slowly.

"Liberation of Insidious Foreign Entities." She let the words roll off her tongue. Her nose raised at how well that had played in her head.

The others facepalmed at how she had said that without the right mood.

'Now that's a mouthful.' Ren shook his head but went along with it all by choosing to stay silent.

"Is there some sort of user interface that appears now and then?" June narrowed her eyes, expecting an answer.

The room fell silent.

"I don't see the relevance to what was asked." Nick refused to reply.

June frowned at the intentional disregard for that question.

Miss Arisa cleared her throat, "thank you, June."

"You have a user interface and I know about it." Arisa pointed out, shaking her head to their incompetence. "We all are having something similar which give us the–"

Slam!

The door flew open from the outside. Rushing in was a male who hyperventilate after sprinting at top speed towards the enclosed space he found the others in.

"Ma'am, it has begun." The male spoke solemnly, leaning to the side whispering the best he could while still maintaining the required distance.

"That's way too soon!" Arisa exclaimed, angered by the news.

"Send out four capable hands to deal with the problem!"

The male bowed his head at Arisa's command, scanning through the number of candidates he could pick from to fit the description.

Pointing at the desired people, a groan of dissatisfaction followed whenever he chose from the crowd. Picking on their skills to fit the job, he was limited to four who could fit the description perfectly.

"What is going on? What's way too soon?! Where are they headed?" Ren questioned in curiosity when he witnessed June get picked alongside a female and two males.

"I hope we get along if I return." June whispered with a sad smile, waving at him.

'If you return? What the fuck is going on?!' Ren tilted his head, his lips drawn into a thin line as he chose to scream out the words in his head instead.

"Ren, do tag along." Arisa walked towards the exit, pausing as she continued. "I need to show you something of importance."
