Chapter 39 - The First Floor (3)

Just like before, the entire hall started violently rumbling.

Somehow, the corpses of the wolves disappeared into thin air. The only thing proving that a battle between the wolf and me had happened was the blood splashed around the hall.

Soon, the rumbling stopped, and the sound of clanking metal could be heard from the dark end of the hall.

It sounded like a hundred pieces of metal were clashing at once.

The ground began to shake once again as monsters emerged from the darkness. Their number was too large to count at a glance, but there were at least two hundred of these monsters.

They almost looked like knights. Most of the monsters wore dull suits of heavy armour and carried around huge swords. Their suits of armour looked almost impenetrable. Except for the gaps in the joints, the armour didn't have any cracks.

[Low Tier Knights]

A couple of them wore pale, dull brown cloaks around them. I couldn't see any kind of weapon on them. They were probably concealing it under their cloaks.

[Low Tier Assassins]

But, the five human-like monsters floating a foot above the air were the strangest of all these creatures. These five monsters wore only a piece of cloth wrapped around their entire bodies, from their heads to their toes. In their hands, they carried a strange pale orb.

[Low Tier Magicians]

Unlike the wolves, who mindlessly scattered around the hall, these knight-like monsters marched in five straight lines. Behind these lines were the monsters who floated and the assassins scattered among the knights.

Were these really monsters?

One of the knights at the front rushed towards me, holding his huge swords with both his hands above his head.

What was he even doing? Running with his sword above his head left countless openings in his defence.

I enveloped the great wolf's fang in arcane and sprinted towards the knight. As soon as the monster flung his sword toward me, I stepped aside, dodging his strike.

Using the fact that his huge sword sank to the ground, making him partially stunned, I got behind him and tried to pierce his waist.

But, his armour was too thick. A dent was all I managed to inflict on him before I lunged back, making some distance between us.

The power at which he slashed his sword at me was abnormal. His slash even broke a part of the ground.

It looks like it's finally time to bring out my new dagger.

I slid the fang back into my pouch and took out the Moon Dagger.

Dash!

"Thank you for being my first test subject," I whispered, using my enhanced agility to appear behind the lone knight.

I wrapped the moon dagger in arcane and thrust it into the knight's neck.

Like a knife slicing through partially molten butter, it pierced the armour with minimal difficulty.

The six-foot monster fell down instantly.

A group of five knights sprinted towards me, surrounding me from three sides.

'Dash' was still in effect! It had a cooldown of half an hour. I needed to use it to its full potential.

Taking advantage of my abnormal speed, I disappeared from where I originally was and appeared in front of one of the knights, taking it by surprise.

It tried to swing its sword at me sideways, but I jumped up, avoiding the blow.

Still in the air, I stomped on the knight's helmet, deforming it completely.

Not wasting time on it anymore, I made my way in front of the knight closest to me.

Like the monster before, it swiped its sword at me sideways.

I ducked down, avoiding the slash. Then, gripping my dagger tightly, I thrust it into the knight's submental space, killing it instantly.

I sprinted towards the other knight, but before I could reach him, I lunged back, barely avoiding the dagger aimed at my face.

Looking to the side, an assassin had thrown the dagger. The assassin sprinted towards me with a dagger in both its hands.

Just before the assassin could react, I sprinted, appearing behind him and slashing his throat.

But, all I had cut was thin air. Was it a clone?

Suddenly, I felt an inhuman urge to duck. Before I could think, my body had already crouched, barely avoiding the dagger slash of the hidden assassin.

The assassin reappeared behind me as the camouflage disappeared from his body. Before it could regain its footing from the momentum of its slash, I twisted my body, facing the assassin, and punched the assassin's face, smashing it to the ground.

I now understand the monsters here. The knights had abnormal strength, while the assassins had exceptional agility. As such, the magicians must be proficient in using 'skills'.

[A debuff has been placed on you by a low-tier magician!]

[For 30 seconds, you will be unable to use any skills]

The magicians could seal my skills too? How intriguing.

Well, I could survive for thirty seconds without using my skills.

Two knights sprinted towards me together. They held their swords at their sides, preparing for a slash.

Pushing the ground with my legs, I took to the air. I rotated my entire body and used its momentum to kick the helmet of one of the knights, crushing its helmet.

Taking advantage of me being in the air and unable to move freely, the other knight swung its sword at me.

Luckily, due to my high perception, I was able to perfectly block the knight's sword with my dagger.

With my dagger, I pushed the sword above my head, disrupting the knight's balance. Then, grabbing the knight's helmet, I punched it with full strength, crushing it completely.

[You have levelled up!]

Now that I think about it, this won't be that easy.

An unintentional scoff left my mouth.

[The debuff has ended!]

A group of ten monsters made their way toward me now.

Why weren't all of them charging me at once? Well, anyway, that's a good thing for now.

I had obtained a new skill too, didn't I?

"Shadow Morph," I whispered.

Although I didn't feel much change, my body started emitting some black fog.

Even though my body became neither translucent nor did I feel myself getting lighter, the knights suddenly became confused.

The monsters looked around everywhere, confusion prominent in their body language.

Anatomical Liberation!

Using their confusion to my advantage, I weaved my way among them, slitting each of their throats.

Enveloping my dagger with arcane made slicing through the armour easier.

All ten knights had fallen to the ground within a minute.

Suddenly, the magicians started chanting a spell.

[Low-tier Magicians have activated the skill: Searching Eye]

Suddenly, a huge eye appeared on the top of the room. Was this a skill?

[Due to the low proficiency of the *skill: Shadow Morph*, the user is unable to resist]

[The skill: Shadow Morph, has been forcefully terminated!]

It made sense that I couldn't resist the search skill. After all, it was my first time using 'shadow morph'. Still, thanks to that skill, I was able to slay ten knights.

These magicians were too much of a bother. It would be best to take care of them first.

I gripped the moon dagger with my right hand, slid the great wolf's fang into my left, and slowly made my way toward the army of knights.

Allot five stat points to perception!

Allot six stat points to agility!

Allot seven stat points to strength!

[Three stats have been increased!]

[Strength: 38—>38]

[Agility: 32—>38]

[Perception: 30—>35]

I exhaled all the air out of my body and took a huge, deep breath.

"It's time to start fighting for real," I said, coating my daggers in arcane.
