On opening his eyes, Nox was standing at the entrance of the Eternal Library. The floor was filled with water, and there was a single source of light floating in the sky.
"Hey there," called out a voice.
"Caligo?" inquired Nox.
"Nah… It's me, Ying," replied Yinghuo, appearing before Nox.
Yinghuo had shifted into his human form. His human form had a fit physique, blonde hair, and golden eyes, which complimented his fair skin. He wore a golden tuxedo with white stripes on it.
Although all his armour had disappeared, he still wore a monocle on his right eye.
His face was on the borderline between extraordinarily beautiful and extremely handsome. He almost looked like one of the famous Korean idols.
If he were seen on Earth wearing an outfit like this, he would unmistakably be mistaken as a man hailing from one of the wealthiest noble families on Earth.
"You look… different," commented Nox.
Yinghuo smiled, not replying to Nox's understandable confusion.
"Take a seat," Yinghuo advised, snapping his fingers.
All of a sudden, a golden couch appeared behind Yinghuo as well as Nox.
Obeying the guide, Nox sat down.
"Where's Caligo? He's usually the one who greets me," Nox inquired. It was strange that this time, Yinghuo was the one waiting to welcome him.
"He got caught up with some work. Making sure that the Library works smoothly is also the responsibility of a guide," replied Yinghuo as he sat down with his legs crossed.
Nox was a little confused. But, in his time in the Tower, he had learned to expect the unexpected.
"I see," replied Nox.
After a short silence, Nox began to ask some questions he had in his mind.
"So, when do I become a real Librarian?" he asked.
"When the Tower deems you are worthy. There isn't any fixed level or floor where you can become a real Librarian. Although, Luke became a Librarian as soon as he stepped his foot on the zeroth floor," replied Yinghuo.
Nox was a little taken aback.
"Just who is he really?" the man wearing the tracksuit asked.
"Well, his story isn't a simple one. Although I'm sure that the more you climb the Tower, the more you'll learn about him," the blonde-haired man calmly replied.
Yinghuo snapped his fingers again, and the next moment he held a glass of some expensive-looking vine. He slowly sipped on the wine as he looked toward Nox.
His eyes and body language were calm and radiated a feeling of comfort.
Nox thought to ask Yinghuo about the strange title and class he had obtained but concluded that it was better if he didn't.
He couldn't trust anyone in the Tower. To him, it was blatantly obvious that everyone in the Eternal Library was using him for their own gain.
But right now, he had no choice but to do whatever the people in the Library told him to do.
"Do you have any advice for me?" Nox inquired.
"There is one. Perhaps the most important," Yinghuo said, as the glass disappeared from his hand and he looked straight up at Nox.
"You need to acquire as much domain as possible. Increasing your standing in the Tower is the only way you'll be able to rival the Divinas without becoming one of them," the golden-suited man advised.
"How do I do that?" Nox inquired. Margaret had told him something similar.
"You'll know how to yourself, as you climb the Tower. But, you need to remember one thing. Even the lowest floor can often reap rewards that are impossible to find on the higher floors," Yinghuo said.
Nodding his head, Nox reclined back in his chair.
Although he didn't completely understand the concept of domains and standing, he was determined to do everything required to meet his parents.
.
.
.
Nox's beautiful blue eyes opened, staring at the ceiling of his room.
"I need to go to the second floor as soon as possible," he mumbled as he got up.
After freshening up, Nox headed towards the elevator.
The lift operator, Glasluk, offered Nox a slight bow as he entered the elevator. Nox bowed in return and told Glasluk to head to the restaurant.
The restaurant was almost empty since it was so early in the morning.
"Breakfast please," Nox said, beckoning to one of the waiters as he made his way toward one of the empty tables at a corner.
Soon, Nox finished his breakfast, which included a combination of the different dishes of India.
After having a scrumptious meal, the man sat back in his chair.
Even though he would like to head to the second floor today, it would be best to at least get a day's rest before he did.
"I was about to bring your breakfast to your room," Margaret said, appearing in front of Nox. She was wearing her usual green and white waitress uniform; her hair was tied up in a neat bun.
"It's fine, I already had it," the man replied.
"I see. What may I assist you with today?" The red-haired waitress inquired.
"Are there any monsters on floor zero?" Nox asked.
"Of course. Floor Zero has a variety of monsters. Almost all the monsters found until the tenth floor can be found outside the gates of the kingdom," the waitress informed Nox.
Although only a handful of low-level monsters roamed in the forest, some high-level monsters were also sometimes seen.
Most guilds sent their new recruits to Floor Zero's forest to train them without risking their lives.
The waitress continued, "Monsters are mainly spawned in some dungeons that are scattered around Floor Zero. The difficulty of a dungeon depends on the monsters it has in it."
Nox nodded his head, understanding all that Margaret had told him.
"Then please take me to a low-level dungeon," Nox said.
'It's best to start from a low-level dungeon first,' he thought.
"Of course. Our inn owns a couple of dungeons. I shall take you to one of them, but…" paused the waitress.
'But?" inquired Nox.
"You will need a party to complete even the lowest level dungeon. Do you have some people in your mind?" the waitress asked.
Although Nox had people like his former team, with whom he could form a party, he didn't want to depend on them or drag them into his affairs.
"Isn't there any other way?" He asked.
"Well, it's our dungeon. So, a party isn't compulsory. But, it would be troublesome if something happened to you if you went alone," she replied.
Well, it made sense. The inn's owner, personally gave Margaret the responsibility to assist and help Nox in his endeavours. If Nox died in the dungeon where she took him, Sarroth wouldn't let the matter slide easily.
Although Margaret was strong enough to accompany Nox into the dungeon, it would be bothersome for her if Nox saw her powers. After all, the only person who knew her powers was Sarroth.
Exhaling a deep sigh, the waitress said, "Well, whatever. We can leave as soon as you're ready. But, if you die in the dungeon, then don't blame me."
"Of course. Let's leave right now," replied the young man.
"Very well. Follow me," ordered the waitress as she headed out of the inn. Obediently, Nox followed close behind her.
She effortlessly weaved her way through the crowd that had started gathering at the inn's entrance.
Together, the red-haired woman and Nox walked towards the city gates.
Just like the last time Nox got out on the streets, the traders were hawking their wares, and a couple of people were shouting to recruit new guild members.
In a couple of minutes, the duo reached the city gates.
"Hey, Marg," said Givrold, the guard who had initially stopped Nox from entering the city.
"Hey there, Giv!" exclaimed the waitress as she vigorously waved her hand at the guard.
The guard and the waitress shook hands before exchanging some polite greetings.
"So where are you headed today?" the guard politely asked.
"Just taking a little walk with one of our customers," replied the red-haired woman.
Givrold looked behind Margaret and exclaimed, "It's you! Nice to meet you! We met a few days ago. Do you remember me?"
Nox was a little taken aback. A lot of people pass through the city gates every day. How was the guard able to remember him?
"Of course," replied Nox as he put his hand forward for a handshake.
Givrold shook his hand but was confused. Was this the same person who had just entered the Tower a few days back?
"You better be on your way. When the sun fully comes up, the gates will become more crowded," said Givrold, shaking away his thoughts.
"Have a good day," Margaret said, exiting the city, with Nox closely tagging behind her.
The duo walked straight for a few minutes before Margaret turned right into the forest. Not asking any questions, Nox followed her.
They walked on the forest road, which looked like it had been made centuries ago. A few huge shrubs had grown in the middle of the road, and giant trees surrounded it on either side.
After walking for a couple more minutes, they finally arrived at a clearing.
There was a large opening in a stone boulder in the middle of the clearing. Surrounding the boulder were three guards.
Unlike the city guards, they wore green and brown light armour. Among them, two were elves, while the other one was a human.
"Margaret Neto," a voice whispered from behind.
