Chapter 38 - The First Floor (2)

[The levels and strength of monsters have been significantly raised]

Just what was happening !?

The challenge made itself more difficult for me?!!

[The first wave is being summoned]

Suddenly, the ground started to shake violently. Dust began to fall from the shaking ceiling, and the piles of rubble flew around. But, maybe because of my high agility and strength, maintaining my balance wasn't much trouble.

After the earthquake stopped, something emerged from the other end of the hall. It was around a metre high and walked on all fours. Its fur was bloodred, and its red eyes shone brilliantly.

It was a wolf! But it was different from the ones I faced in the tutorial. Even though it was obviously weaker, the way it looked at me was the same way the great wolf did.

**********

Red Wolf

More powerful compared to normal wolves.

Due to the low proficiency of the user, no more information can be seen.

**********

A red wolf? How interesting.

I don't need to spill blood on my new dagger to kill something like it.

I slowly approached the beast, readying the fang of the great wolf. I was somewhat of an expert in hunting wolves.

The wolf sprinted towards me at full speed. It swiped its claws at me, but I was much quicker. Dodging at the last moment, I thrust the dagger into the wolf's head, catching it by surprise. The beast instantly lost its life.

Another wolf stepped out from the dark end of the hall. But, this time, an entire pack of more than ten wolves followed behind.

Was the dark end of the hall a portal? Well, I can ponder that after taking care of the current nuisance.

All of the wolves sprinted toward me. Some of them approached me from my flanks and my behind.

One of the wolves lunged at me from my left, growling loudly. As it neared, I performed a handstand, using my legs to kick the wolf to the ground.

One of the wolves sprinted toward me without giving me the time to get back on my legs. Using my hands, I pushed myself up into the air. Thankfully, my strength had improved a lot by levelling up.

Performing a backflip, I kicked the wolf's snout, knocking it out.

The other wolves became warier and started simultaneously lunging at me from different directions.

Anatomical Liberation!

Using my increased agility and fluid body, I rolled out of the way, getting behind one of the wolves.

Using the momentum I gained, I jumped onto the pillar right in front of me and used my legs to push off the pillar, launching into the air.

I landed on the nearest wolf and pierced its neck.

From on top of the wolf, I jumped on top of another wolf, punching its eye with all my strength.

In under three minutes, all the wolves had been eradicated.

[You have levelled up!]

Suddenly, a loud howl was heard from the dark end of the hall.

A pack of more than a hundred wolves stepped out and spread throughout the hall.

Guess I need to pay more attention now.

I strolled toward the nearest group of wolves, enveloping my arcane around the fang.

[You have levelled up!]

After finishing off those hundred wolves, another hundred of the beasts were summoned. Although I was able to handle them with some moving around and outsmarting, taking care of all of them took me around an hour.

Although I hadn't been forced to use my new dagger, the new armour had saved me from a few attacks that may have been fatal otherwise.

Even though the tracksuit suffered some wear and tear, it was able to stitch itself. Having a cloth that never stayed torn was really amazing.

On a serious note, I levelled up a lot in this fight. Undoubtedly, the wolf slayer skill helped me a lot in levelling up. It was really fortunate that the monsters on the first floor were wolves.

To increase its proficiency, I sliced some of the wolf corpses with my' arcane dagger'. In the beginning, the 'arcane dagger' couldn't even pierce the wolf's skin, but now it has become a much more useful weapon.

Sitting down, I leaned my back against one of the pillars. Even though running around so much wasn't exhausting, it still mildly hurt my legs.

"It feels weird," I mumbled to myself.

I had killed around two hundred and fifty living beings, yet I was calm.

This was a feeling I had experienced only once before. Yet, that time I murdered due to my rage. Even today, I don't regret the action I took that day.

But, this time, why was I still killing and feeling nothing about it?

Had I finally lost my humanity? Maybe.

If that was the price I had to pay to meet the only two people in the world I could call my own, I would gladly accept it.

But to save my loved ones, what I require is power. Unimaginable and unrivalled power. Climbing the Tower is the only way to obtain it.

"Mother, Father, I will come. Wait for me just a bit longer," I said, staring at a random pillar.

Who was I even talking to? Sometimes I did the weirdest things.

[Your exceptional skill in handling a dagger has been appreciated by the Tower!]

What was this all of a sudden?

[You have obtained the title:- Weaponry- Dagger Master]

Did I get the title just because I was good at handling the dagger?

Maybe, the talents and skills we had back on Earth could be converted into 'skills' and 'titles' in the Tower. To think that the Tower worked in this way too. How interesting!

Let's take a look at the title.

Dagger Master!

**********

Dagger Master(B)

Gain random skills related to daggers as your proficiency with daggers increases.

Proficiency: 36.9%

**********

What! The proficiency was already above thirty! Was this because I was already experienced with daggers? This was amazing!

[You have obtained the skill: Dagger throw]

I have already obtained a skill too!? Fabulous!

Dagger throw!

**********

Dagger throw (B)

Gain the ability to connect with your daggers.

The accuracy when the user throws their dagger increases.

After the dagger is thrown, the user gains the ability to summon the dagger back.

Arcane consumptions: None

**********

This was great! To think that no arcane would be used was excellent.

Standing up, I took out the fang of the great wolf.

I aimed for the corpse of one of the wolves, about twenty metres away. Then, aiming for the eye, I threw the fang.

It perfectly hit its target.

This was amazing! The accuracy of my dagger throw has increased significantly.

Let's try calling it back!

I raised my hand and tried to feel my dagger, which was twenty metres away.

There it was! It felt as if a thin string connected me and my item.

Directing my complete focus on the dagger, I imagined it coming back.

And it did! It flew out of the wolf's corpse and perfectly slid itself into my hand.

This was indeed a very useful skill!

After practising throwing and summoning my dagger a few more times, I had gotten comfortable with the feeling.

Almost ten minutes had passed since any of the monsters had been summoned. Was the challenge already over?

[The second wave is being summoned!]

I guess not.
